...sometimes a name can inspire look as well. while powerset is a good thing to look at I find it is put a small piece in the over all look and feel of a character. background, name and mentality all play a part in over all look.....well, for me at least.
basically the more information you can provide the easier it is to nail down a costume that accomplishes not only what you want but also that you like.
just a random thought on the matter. ~

well his name is Volt Sentinel (Voltaic was taken...but he is on my friends list just in case 
)
he grew up in paragon city perez park
he developed his abilities when he was very young and can do most anything with them, including reading the general though (or emotion) of people by "reading" their brains electrical activity (potentially mind control in a limited manner) or identifying people by their electrical auras...he has the potential to be.....truly super
but he is still a average geek likes to read comics and watch tv shows, he has a tendency to jump in head first into a situation.

Aww, don't say that you lack imagination! You are off to a good start: The theme is dead on, you use complimentary colors, and the patterns are very uniform. I would say you have a very structured mind, not an "unimaginative" one.
I like a lot of the costumes others have suggested here. Just pay attention to what you like in the other pieces, and your own designs will start to feed off their energy. Just be patient, and your creativity will come out of its shell, LoL!
I would design you one tonight, but I'm still busy tonight (I won't be getting much sleep! 
)
Keep your chin up. There are so many talented and helpful designers who are willing to show you not just examples of, but how to actually make really expressive suits!

I'd like a shot at this too when I get home later, 2 of my costumes are in my sig for examples of styles and colours that I use, I'll post some ideas up later on if you haven't chosen one already i can stick to the general look and maybe you can use optional designs for other constume slots in the future
