Blast from the Past ((Open RP))
(Erm, as Diov just impl-... Hell, as Diov just explained, it'd take a while to traverse a useable path to the creature's destination. I'm not questioning your char's ability to get there, but that's gonna be some wait. >.>
Dennis blasted Clockwork left and right, only stopping every now and then to reduplicate himself and to re-assess the battle.
He didn't know what Dusan had gotten himself into this time. These weren't the Clockwork he had known when he was alive. These things coordinated their attacks and seemed much more resilient than the pushovers he had known.
What had Dusan gotten himself into?
Dennis sighed and continued to clear a path for those he supposed were allies, only taking harmless bolts of electricity to try and impede him. Funny thing about electricity, it doesn't seem to affect the dead.
((Darn it! I leave for five hours and miss the first battle! ))
Right behind the Soulhound, the puddle-man ((Anyone wanna suggest a name? That's the one thing I haven't decided on yet.)) Suddenly melted up through the floor as though he were intangible.
He stared at Bladwing with an intensity that would've unnerved most people, almost as though he was scanning him...
"Life is hard; it's harder if you're stupid." - John Wayne
There came a low whistling from above Dusan and a large shadow passed over him seconds before Ghoul slammed into the ground with a heavy thud. He had landed directly on a retreating Tesla Knight, pulverizing the thing to bits and cracked the ground under his feet as he slowly uncrouched and looked back at the hero.
"Get a move on, kid," he grunted. "Leave the small fries for when they're actually dangerous."
Snorting in contempt, Ghoul tensed up his legs and then leapt back up into the air as he continued jumping toward where the Soulhound had stopped.
Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.
Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.
NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.
Watcher on the Knoll. He'd always though that a somewhat odd designation, especially considering the happenings connected to it. Still, for this operation, it had been a more than acceptable codename; a very good suggestion indeed.
Perhaps he really should study up on local history more. It had been described as truly captivating at times, not to mention highly useful when it came to certain things.
In any case, there'd be time for that later. Right now, the idea was but to observe while at the same time remaining unobserved. So far, that had been working excellently. Here came the first of the group, Bladewing, without even the slightest clue as to the location of the observer. He had to admit, the idea of hiding right here had been truly fantastic. He even stood close enough to hear every bit of what was spoken, and yet none of them had even the slightest clue...

The duo of the Sword didn't bother with any walls or bridges. Sure, if they'd gone straight north, they'd have to navigate said obstacles, for whoever had built this section of town had apparently possessed some sort of love for meticulously wound roads and hairpin turns. Still, blocks were hardly present to such an extent to stop the truck. Traversing this area was just a waste of time.
Instead, they headed out of the DPO due east. The engine roared as the Sorcerer popped the truck into six-wheel, rumbling over two consecutive debris piles, then taking a left onto a smaller side road. A few girders of mangled steel went down like a house of cards, the vehicle easily clearing the mound of rubble that contained them, rolling onto another section of open road beyond.
Another left followed a curve, and then the truck pushed its way past a fallen tramcar from the destroyed tracks overhead. What few windowpanes the thing still had shattered cacophonously, metal protesting loudly as the truck shoved the tram out of the way to get to the road beyond.
A little further sat a pair of containers, the vehicle's powerful engine pushing past them just as easily (one was empty and very easy to move), then cutting across the concrete in front of a somewhat still-standing high rise to make a left turn ahead. From then on, only one more large mound of debris stood in the way of the ramp to the Powderkeg, the ascent perhaps fourteen meters, give or take.
After that, the Vanguard simply followed the mostly clear road that zigzagged its way through the sector on the upper edge of the wall that snaked through the Powderkeg in the same fashion. There weren't any obstacles larger than a car, and even those had more than enough clear space about them to give a comfortable berth.
All in all, it took the Sword duo about three minutes to reach the three-way junction at the outskirts of the Cannonade, the very same intersection that sat right above the tunnel leading under that sector.
Said minutes, however, did not pass uneventfully.
"Talk to me." the Sorcerer answered what appeared to be a transmission coming in through his helmet, "Yeah, I'd say so. They're almost there, yes. No, not just yet. Need to wait until the moment's right; otherwise they won't react the way we want them to. Of course I understand. Don't worry, the observation is being carried out close as it can be, and..."
The seemingly one-sided conversation ceased long before the Sword duo arrived at the destination, of course...

"Right." Dusan said, giving a nod of thanks and a slight wave, in addition to granting his soul an increase to his damage output.
"Dennis! We're moving forward!" He shouted, shortly before pushing the boundaries of his own body and soul, allowing him to speed ahead with great speed.

Energon X remained stealthed, ranging far and wide across the Soulhound's tracks- while his HUD hadn't been able to provide any particularly useful information on the creature, it did have a solid lock on it. The occasional luckless Oscillator that passed too close got swatted out of the sky with such force that it cratered out, and he was long gone before any of its friends could try and find him.
He watched the Vanguard truck curiously for a while as it ground over obstacles, blithely blasting Clockwork to bits. Something's not right here. One of their 'copters could pass through the area far more easily. Unless there's something in the magic that requires them to stay grounded for it to work, there's another piece of the puzzle here.
When nothing further presented itself from the Sword's activities, he moved West, catching the last fragments of the rest of the team's battle with a few Clockwork. He shrugged and kept moving- they could handle themselves quite easily, it seemed. Something's bugging me, though. The Council will undoubtedly know about this- it's not as if they can't watch the news, after all. And they're too well equipped and trained for Clockwork to take down, even these somewhat powered-up versions. And yet they're nowhere to be seen.
He banked North and dropped to the ground, accelerating far beyond what he could manage in the air, especially with the faux-wings stuck to his back. Blithely ignoring the few scatterings of Clockwork as he blurred invisibly past, he scoured a few square blocks before spotting a scurrying shadow that was too large to be a Clock.
He followed it, more cautiously now, layering on several forms of stealth to better remain unseen, and rounded a corner.
"Holy [censored]!" ripped out of the team's comm channel.
A split second of silence... then an explosion rocked Boomtown to its shaky foundations and turned the sky blue-white. The sound followed a second later, a bass rumble that shook the ground and rattled cascades of debris loose from the derecript buildings.
He was wreathed in a violent, conflicting multicoloured glow... red, yellow, blue, purple, orange... as he snapped open a dozen vials of enhancers. Science and magic wreathing him in an unearthly aura of charms and radiation, he released desperate, roaring cascades of blue-white incandescence. Energon X had found the Vahzilok. All of them.

Dusan quickly stopped in his tracks as his face slightly contracted as a dull pain spread throughout his body, letting him know that somebody was either very, very upset, angry, sad, or just overall negatively impacted. He glanced around for a second or two and quickly located the source of the pain, which seemed to be just north of him. "Ow..." He couldn't help but say as the throbbing grew worse. "What the Hell is it? 'Holy [censored]' doesn't really tell us anything, does it?"
Dusan was clearly irritable. It was because of this guy that he had been washed in pain in the first place. He calmly closed his eyes and focused. Focused to the point where he was oblivious to everything around him. He breathed deeply and steadily, allowing calm to wash over his body.
And then the pain stopped.
He breathed a sigh of relief, having temporarily desensitized himself to the emotions of those he was attached to. "OK, continue following the lizard, I'm fairly certain whatever he found, he can take care of." He commented to Dennis, who was now standing not two feet from him, making sure to keep it out of the mic of the communicator.
"Aye aye." Dennis replied cooly, taking off again suddenly, having completely locked onto the dragon's soul, Dusan following with near super speediness shortly afterward, hurdling over objects and jumping over chasms when appropriate.

Bladewing winced from the volume of Energon's transmission.
"Owwwww, a bit loud, but the again he said one of my favorite phrases "Holy [censored]", which usually means that the person in question has found either a huge mob of villans, or insurmountable odds."
Grinning Bladewing looked at the puddle man next to him.
"I'll let you guard this lizard, I've got feeling that theres a huge fight somewhere, and I'll be damned if I miss a fight that can cause someone as good as Energon to say Oh [censored]!"
With those words Bladewing streaked off for the location of Eneregon's transmission, hoping that the blaster hadn't killed all the villans by the time he got there.

Dax was pissed. He had liked this look, all punk and stuff. When he had crashed into the ground he had landed ontop of a weakened section of the forgotten sewers. He reared back a hand and smashed it into a section of old concrete above his head smashing a hole in the roof. BOOM. the tunnel began to shake with the explosion.
Two to one bet it was the boom guy. Dax kneeled down and concentrated before jumping through the roof and into the sky. He began to absorb what little sunlight he could through the holes in his skin. The artificial skin that usually covered him began to smoke. Sections of it began to burn or melt away.
After a few seconds Dax floated in the air in his true form, smooth green crystal with waves of energy moving through it from head to foot, he had no mouth, his eyes where the same material as his true body, and he had spiky green crystals for hair. Now which way did they go? Dax opened what passed as his mind and reached for their energy signatures. Let's see clockwork, clockwork, vahs, clockwork, and meta's He could feel their independant energy signatures and even the residual energy left behind by the explosion. Yep, it was the boom type.
Cracks seemed to appear through Dax's body as he prepared for his version of teleportation. He allowed his body to splinter and then shatter. The crystals were each deadly and had independant minds within themselves. Okay guys that way. We reassemble at arrival The origin cluster said

Bladewing stopped, not ten feet from where he had started, scratching the back of his head in consternation.
"Hmmmmm, why do I feel like the [censored] is about to hit the fan here.......ah well better not to chance losing the one means of finding my page and revenge victim."
Still scratching his head, Bladewing walked back towards the Soulhound.

The crystals traveled in a tight pack, all 118 of them. They seemed to hover in the air before combining back into a humanesque form and dropping roughly to the ground beside the soul lizard thing. "It's Dax. What'd I miss?"

((Erm... I was actually intending for Energon to have found the main Vahzilok 'camp'... which wouldn't be moving towards the soulhound. Maybe you guys found the party that Karl the Mortificator was leading?))
Energon X was in peak form, a bluelit god of death carving a swathe through the Vahzilok. Beams of hard radiance smashed down zombies, Mortificators, Abominations, Reapers, and the occasional Eidolon alike. "A little help?" he grated over the comm channel. "I've got about forty seconds before the boosts wear off and I get swarmed under by Vahz at my location."
A sweep of his arm, and a tidal wave of blue energy cleared a brief cone in front of him, earning the blaster a moment's respite. Already, the Vahzilok minions were having to climb over heaps of their own to get at him, although part of his mind noted that a few of them were getting back up after a short ministration by a Mortificator.
He lunged skywards, bringing the battered frankengun he carried into play, a heavy rocket leaping out and shattering a large cluster of the techno-undead before leaping back into the fray, fists ablaze with a crimson glow.
"Even a distraction to give me enough time to pull out would be good." he snapped. "Thirty seconds."

((Oh... uhm, wasn't saying *I* was attacking Karl's group- I figured he was plot vital. I was actually intending for E-X to have found the Vahz 'camp' by following a stray Mortificator, although at the moment, he's more interested in getting the hell out of Dodge than he is in fighting all 700-some Vahzilok running around there. Granted, he's made something of a dent, but that's not gonna last- even the big inspirations only last a minute or so ))
((EDIT- Also, I figured it wouldn't be a big deal for me to find the Vahz camp, even if it is somewhat North of where we were headed- a slotted-out flier can cover pretty much the entire zone in what, 3 minutes, if that?))
((EDIT AGAIN- Okay, apparently I wasn't supposed to find the Vahz yet; is there anyone that can teleport me outta there? That way the camp gets re-lost (E-X has my direction sense, if he got teleported out, the only thing he'd know about the camp's location is which part of the zone it was in, if that...) and I don't have to kill 3 big posts and leave people wondering what the heck Energon X' been doing all this time))
((YET ANOTHER EDIT- oh, just to clarify... I will kill my posts if it's vital, I just don't want to ))

Martin landed by the "Bloodhound." The rest of the crew was materializing in their various methods, but Martin preferred the standard "dropping out of the sky/Death from Above" method.
Landing by the monster, he held his hands up in a defensive, yet friendly pose. It worked with hungry strays, it should work for a semi-tame magical beast...
"That's a good... Boy... Girl... Something," he whispered as he backed away and it glared at him through narrowed eyes, "I didn't realize I was landing so close... Relax... Relax... Good..."
He turned back to the rest of the crew and grinned. He didn't understand why, but it felt good to be in an adventure of some certain import.

Bladewing glanced around at the growing group of Heroes and villans, checking his mystic crystal for the locations of the rest of the team.
Noting that the two Vanguard operatives were close to arriving, he concentrated on EnergonX and all those that were farther away from the Soulhound.
The air around Bladewing began to warp and a humming noise filled the air, black lightning playing over his scales as six rings of runes formed in mid-air, inside one another. Then the rings began to spin and rotate, causing more black lightning to play over theyre surfaces.
Bladewing grabbed the team communications crystal from his dimesional pouch.
"Anyone who wants an express trip to the Soulhound step into the giant rotating ring portals that will be appearing in front of you in around five seconds!"
Bladewing then began mentally warping gravity to create the mystic wormholes that his unique brand of teleportation used, connecting all the portals in front of the rest of his teammates to the one in front of him.

The scanning glare of the man that had formed from the puddle reached exactly the same conclusion as Energon's earlier analysis of the creature. It seemed the reptilian's nature wasn't very forthcoming, at least so far as information was concerned.
Indeed, the being seemed somewhat disinterested in him, trotting over to a pile of rubble and planting itself upon that, apparently content to wait until the others had gotten here.
The Vanguard truck would probably be the last to arrive, but when it finally did, the duo of Sword operatives stepped from the vehicle in utter silence. It seemed they had no need to speak to one another for any reason.
A few seconds passed before it appeared that the two had realized how awkward this must have looked, the Colonel quickly addressing her counterpart, "So then, Mr. Magic, we're here, and I don't see any hostage. Any other bright ideas?"
The Watcher relaxed a bit. That moment of inattentiveness had almost let everything go sour. It all had to proceed so very delicately...

Dax yawned. So things go from being boring to throwing a few punches to sewers to boring again. He went to run a hand through his hair but stopped halfway through the motion remembering that his hair was now crystal. Great now I don't even look remotely human. How the hell am I suposed to pick up women now? I blame this all on Shaakti.
He watched the hobo talk to the lizard and Bladewing summon runes. Great magic . This is Jonas's territory not mine. Why the hell am I even here? Damn I'm bored Dax looked around at the other meta's. Maybe things are gonna pick up soon.

Immediately he started heading deeper through the Powderkeg. He couldn't just let the bloodhound run off on its own... Something deep within told him it was important.
