Oh yeah? Well I think it DOES matter.

Although I'm not a person who pays much attention to the story of CoH/CoV, I do enjoy the unique, artified, and comical aspects to the game. After getting a hunting mission in Nerva (not many Crey in Nerva, btw), I happened to find a pair of them next to a unidentified neutral targetable mass of something with a name that either suggests laziness on behalf of the developer in charge of names or just another fun discovery. Anyway, I thought I'd share it with you all.

Actually, that's the rare substance 'DoesntMatter'.

It's a lot like your typical comic book materials, like Vibranium, Adamantium, Inobtanium, etc, but it's only special ability is to make characters think it's not really important.

One suggestion ... even with a low res ... Menu-Options- Graphics-Window Scale ... change that to lets say 70% ... should open up your screen.

..... He's got pets named Bed Pan and Catheter. That rules.

And yeah dude: get a bigger monitor and better resolution - shrink your UI down a little so you might actually see your surroundings! MOnitors these days are getting cheap! Get yourself a nice samsung 22" and see the amazing, amazing difference it can make!

But now you made me type it all out, and I was trying to be lazy.

Thanks for all the tips everyone. I'm actually using a ViewSonic VA2012wb 20" Widescreen LCD Monitor with a 256MB nVidia GeForce 7300GT graphics card and 2GB of RAM in Vista Basic with a 3GHz P4.

I think that I'm perfectly capable of running at higher resolutions, but the problem I've run into is the UI shrinking and text being almost unreadable.

You can increase the size of your text in the chat windows (and related tabs) in the main options menu. Be warned though that this WILL NOT change the size of the text in the nav window, mission objectives window, CS/BM window, etc. but you could try making the windows completely opaque and see if that helps at all when using smaller text.

You can also change the size of all of the UI elements:

In options, under "Graphics and Audio" you'll see an option called "Window Scale" under "User Interface. This can be used to increase the size of all windows, including the Nav bar, Life bar, Target bar, etc. Its max value is based on your resolution, so its capped at 100% at 800x600, 154% at 1280x960, and so on up.

You can also scale different UI elements individually by using:
/window_scale {window name} {value}

So "/window_scale Nav 1.5" would make your Nav bar 150% of its default size. Its probably best to make these into a macro of keybind though (window_scale Nav 1.5$$window_scale target 1.25$$etc), as the last time I used them they were a little buggy and like to resize themselves occasionally.

Alternatively, of course, you could just shrink the UI and keep your resolution.

Thanks for the tips. I'll give it a try.

Hmm, it would seem that increasing the window scale DOES increase the text size. Running at 1680 x 1050 (max resolution for this monitor) with the scale at 120% is pretty good with only minor rendering delay.

Hey, 17" is the average perfectly normal size for a guy... several girls have told me so and I know they wouldn't lie... they just wouldn't...
