hey I've never really messed with the duel ladder much but seeing as poisen havok is #1 maybe I should have a look into this.
So the way this works is I duel the lowest rank person and work my way up?
Dunno if the rules still stand but:
"When you first join you are placed in the "Unranked" category of the Ladder.
You become "Ranked" after winning your first Ladder match. (Unranked users can play each other and the winner becomes ranked at the bottom of the ladder.)
When you defeat a higher ranked player you move up half the distance between their rank and your own (skipping over any players that have been inactive for over 30 days).
Your rank on the Ladder does not go down if you lose a match unless your opponent is ranked DIRECTLY below you.
When other players beat people above you and jump over you in rank you will slide down.
EXAMPLE OF RANKING CALCULATION:
Terp Man, currently ranked #25, defeats VX, currently ranked #10.
25 - 10= 15/2 = 7.5
Terp Man's rank would move up 7 spots from #25 to #18"

You don't have to start by fighting the person at the bottom. You can challenge and/or fight anyone on the ladder, regardless of their current position.
If you beat someone who's unranked, you become the lowest ranked player on the ladder (above any previously ranked players who are now "inactive" (i.e., they have not fought a match in the last 30 days).
If you beat someone who's ranked, you move up half the distance between their rank and your own (For example, with 6 people currently ranked on the ladder, if you're unranked and beat #1, you would be the 7th ranked player and then move up three spots to #4.

from my understanding it is per toon not account
You can have multiple characters on the ladder, but each will have its own rank.
At one point, Ownage had 3 or 4 of the top 5 on the ladder.

Cryo Jax defeated -Kurgain 7-0
We did a few more, but I was on toons that weren't in the duel ladder like my rad/rad, or ill/storm. Fun times

Not to blast the whole process or anything, since more PvP and dueling is a good thing, but isn't the concept of a ladder for it kind of silly? Considering you could take a player of equal skill and dethrone any given #1 toon with one of that toon's multiple weak matchups...
