Had to break the bad mojo number!
We love you, too. Very much. You're a fantastic addition to this community.
Hurrah! Now they need a darn good reason to give you the pink slip!

That completely and hopefully humorous tidbit aside - you have been a great addition to the community . That is saying alot seeing how much the forum community as a whole tends to compare new moderator 'blood' to what has existed in the past. Hope you are around for a long while yet

Well Ex, I gotta say, you've done something amazing. Let me trot out an anecdote.
Way back in 1979, the Grateful Dead needed a new keyboard player. Bob Weir (rythym guitarist for the Dead) had a really hot keyboardist in his side band, a guy named Brent Midland and he invited Brent to play with the Dead. So, Brent joined the Grateful Dead.
Brent played with them for more than 10 years, longer than ANY previous keyboardist (yes, GD went thru keyboardists like Spinal Tap went thru drummers). Brent was soulfull, Brent had a great sound, Brent really "got it"......but even to his last day alive, many many fans of the band (Deadheads, or more properly dead freaks) referred to him as "the new guy" and they HATED him.
I never understood the hate. Then again, I came to the Dead a little late.
How is this relevant? Well, before you there was cuppajo, and she left behind some mighty big shoes. Lighthouse came along, but I don't think ANYONE sees Lighthouse as being the same kind of mod as cuppa. Cricket tried hopping into cuppa's shoes....and then hopped right back out.
You came along, looked at cuppa's shoes.....and decided your OWN shoes fit you quite nicely! People tend to respect that more I think. You're doing so much to keep this community together in all our (occassionally dysfunctional) glory....you have a presence here that is downright friendly! That's cool.
Now I realize I probably sound like the biggest brown noser EVAH, but I can live with that. I certainly get not one bit of "special treatment" around here, heck just yesterday I got mod smacked (for nothing I might as well add) Keep up the fantastic work Ms Ex Libris....one day maybe you will no longer be "the new girl"

Of course, there are counterexamples, too. Like that new Ringo Starr guy, who had a hard time replacing the Pete Best we know and love.
Who knows? In 20 years, we may all be sitting around saying, "Cuppa who?" while waiting for Issue 71 to come out. (Patch Note: We updated the smellovision module for the Vahzilok. It turns out that it was a little too realistic, and causing players to retch and vomit uncontrollably. —Positot)
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.

So I have been thinking about this day for awhile now...because it is a benchmark occasion as you can no longer pull the "but I'm new here" card, without getting trumped by the "you should know better by now" card.
Being the new kid can be a hard adjustment, and I think with the virtual anonymity of this environment that can be compounded. I was so excited to have the opportunity to move into a community position and knew what challenges arise from being in this industry now for several years.
I must say that I have never experienced a community that is so helpful, and so willing to make the extra effort to help each other and that speaks volumes to the characters behind the characters that support the "City of" franchise. Maybe we are lucky in that this genre attracts people that want to be heroic, but I have experienced no less treatment from my villainous encounters, which I must say since I play a hero during the day...
I just want to say it has been a great run so far, and I look forward to working with this community and helping it to grow as the future of City of Heroes/City of Villains continues.
I have certainly had my rough spots and the times that truly remind me that I am working with people on the other end of the keyboard. There was no time more prominent in my mind than the time I looked at a sticky note on my board that had the forum name of one of our players who had passed away the weekend before. I had intended on contacting him to help with the PvPEC and for some reason, maybe even time alone I hadn't sent out an invitation. That is my reminder that you aren't just a subscription, or a nameless/faceless entity, that each one of you is a person with a personality and emotions.
I don't want to get too heavy just want to say that I love working with this community and I look forward to working with Lighthouse and the community to make City of Heroes/City of Villains one of the best places to call home in the virtual world.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Best regards,
Ex Libris (Post number 667)
