A special piece for good friend

Over the years, the supergroup of which I'm a member has become a pretty tight-nit, extended family. As a result, I know many of them very well and their characters are like the Justice League or the Avengers to me - old friends.

It's not hard to be inspired by them and I'm constantly doodling comics, cartoons, and even renders of the various members. This piece is a surprise gift to a fellow LoneSTAR member named CHIEF JUSTICE, who's tireless efforts both in and out of game have helped make Paragon a better place.

For the record, the character of Chief Justice is patterned after none other than Marvel's own "Captain America" (although he hates Rikti and not Fascists). Thus, the image below.

CHIEF JUSTICE and some other guy...

Pretty damned nifty. I had wanted a Doug Shuler 3D render for my first commission but (though certainly reasonably priced for the quality) it was kind of out of my price range. I'll be saving my coins for the next few months and I'll try to make it happen. I think I have a very cool dual character concept in mind that should be fun to do and will look great.

Though, maybe a better route is to set up shop on Victory, befriend Doug, and then try to inspire him.

Ah Cap, we miss you already.

I love Cheif's expression... almost like he's thinking "OMG, I'm fighting alongside HIM! Okay, calm down... must... avoid... fanboying out..."

Great stuff as always, Douglas *salutes*

It's nice but, it seems to be missing the DarkJedi touch, I don't know what that is, if its the finer details or something else.

I'm noticing that the, legs on the two characters seem a bit odd and bulky, especially on the upper thigh area. Or at least it's lacking some muscle definition. Also the hands of Chief Justice look as if he was holding a flag and lost it. It looks too loose to be a fist raised and ready to fight.

Naturally this is just my opinion and if the client/friend enjoys it, that's all that matters.

Hm. Interesting. I'll look at it in more detail and reconsider some aspects.

And no worries about expressing you opinion about various pieces - honest, thoughtful critique is never offensive. I know I can't please everyone all the time, so I don't even try. Some things appeal to some people, and other things stand out to others... it's the way of things.

I also feel an artist can't learn and grow without critique, and no lessons are learned if someone only succeeds. Failure is a wonderful teacher if taken in the proper light, and I learn from failures on every piece. That's how I continue to push and grow my works.

My friend was happy with it, so that was a primary goal. It was a free piece, after all. ;p

A secondary goal (that has not yet been met) was to make a perfect Captain America. Due to this and other critiques, I'll evolve the model and hopefully improve it further.

Thanks for your input, and everyones'!

What a great community.

Great work Doug! Chief Justice looks phenomenal.

There's something about Captain America though that seems off... He seems a little cartoony next to Cheif Justice. I can't put my finger on it though.

Regardless, awesome work as always
