Windy Winters - WIP

Ok, well here's what I've got so far for Windy. She's a storm controller. What I hope to achieve here is a gale force snow storm coming in your face, which doesn't really come through yet in the pencils...but that's the final plan anyhow.

I figure I'll post various steps of the process here as things develop. This is actually more like a "Step 2" since the first pencils are really extremely loose.

Fingers are crossed on this one, I think it's a pretty solid start...now if I can just finish it without messing anything up along the way.

It looks good so far

A littlse constructive critique would be that the left breast looks a little "soggy" for lack of a better word, It´s sort of weirdshaped, especially to the allmost perfect circle of the right one.

I believe the word is "saggy" rather than soggy

Actually Poul, from the perspective and the slope/angle of her shoulders, one would expect the left breast to be lower and less 'rounded'.

I agree though, it's a little 'off', not sure why. Probably a perspective thing.

Just to be clear...cause I'm having trouble seeing it...when you say 'left' do you mean HER left or left as if you're looking at the picture?

It's something like that, that I really don't want to mess up .

Thanks,

Wo, where'd you come from??

Great piece so far.

welcome to the forums!

Dont know how I missed this one. Awesome Job 8baller. Seems your skill on paper matches your skill ingame, good stuff!

I think what they're seeing is a small "dip" in the upper part of the right breast (hers perspective). It's not a smooth line. Also, from the perspective of the drawing itself, it might be that the breasts are not the normal "defying gravity" style that everyone is used to.

Maybe she just doesn't shop at Victoria's Secret. :P

I really like this one, mainly because she doesn't look all "gravity defying."

Thanks man. It was fun running around with you guys last night, if even for a short bit.

And, there's no paper involved (I don't think they make an eraser big enough), I work all digital tablet-style. It just seems easier these days.

Typically I'll do the rough sketching process in Alias Sketch only because I really like the 'feel' of it. Inking is a toss up right now between Sketch and Photoshop, but all the coloring is done in Photoshop.

Thanks again,

The drawing looks great 8! I really like your tight linework and looseness of her pose. As much as I like breasts, I won't get all hung up on perfect symmetry - I'm sure everything will smooth out in the final stages. Can't wait to see the colors...
Is this a commission piece?

That was a fun team last night, glad you could join us.

Looking good so far. Can't wait to see if finished The breast they are referring to would be the left one as you look at the picture.

Ok, off topic. It's a misnomer that getting your wisdom teeth out sucks. In the contrary, getting them out is a breeze. Dealing with the DRUGS wearing off for the rest of the day sucks.

I want my brain back.

Wow, great pencils! Before I got help for my addiction I would now be asking if you were looking for additional subjects for your work. Now I am able to resist the temptation.

Thanks, and rest assured, after seeing your immense gallery, Feral Kat has been bumped to the upper area of my "Hottest Characters to Draw" list. Should that day ever come...and it may be approaching.

Great gallery,

Adding some color to her now, and some effects.

Windy With Color - WIP

(like my signature thingy in the corner?

She's coming along, I rounded out her left...uh...side thanks to all the feedback. And decided to go ahead with the "no wonderbra" approach for Windy. I hope there aren't too many objections. There'll be plenty of wonderbra's later I'm sure.

Still working on getting her to 'pop' more off the background and working on the power effect in her right hand. I thought I had this really cool idea...then did it...and it blew....so....back to the drawing board.

p.s. oh, and yes that is her skin color.

Simply awesome! Fantastic work!

That's fantastic. The character coloring in particular.
One comment: The background lighting makes the weather look kinda like a rippling weather curtain than 3-d surging weather. Wouldn't know how to fix it or anything myself, just wasn't sure if that was the effect you were going for.
Great job.

Thanks, yeah the background and her aren't quite there yet. I'd like for the snow appear to be blasting past her from behind but at the same time, doing that and keeping her from getting lost in the background is proving to be...a challenge.

Thanks,

Looks good... I think part of what might be giving that "curtain" look people are mentioning are the static snowflakes on the side versus the ... what to call it, "whoosh?" in the middle.

What to do that goes with the hair and cape motion, though... if you don't mind losing snowflake detail, there's always just swirling flurries...

Posted

Good point.

I do like the snowflakes in the area...goes with the costume, but I'll give a try at giving all of them the blur and see how that goes.

Thanks,

I think the "wooshing" around her head should be more horizontal. Not totally. It would make it seem more like it's coming at you. I think that will help with the effect better than blurring the snowflakes on the side.

Looks fantastic dude. I'm hopin' to see some more stuff from ya in the near future.
