Therra Malevola-WIP- might be NSFW

While nothing is explicitly shown, this piece might be considered NSFW

Well this piece started out as a Sketch a Day sketch and is now a commission...yay

Tightened up the sketch a bit: tighter sketch

fixed it up a bit, arm a little too long here, and other stuff, dropped some tone on it: More refinements

Now I usually go and ink, digitally, but I thought I would play around, got some feedback about her face so I tweaked it a bit this morning.

Just messing around with a different style

Depending on feedback, I will either continue with this style or go back to a more traditional inked and colored look.

Looking great so far. NSFW is AOK2ME.

continue with that coloring style. It's awsome

I love this coloring style actually.

very much like you're doing a painting, very organic.

And I don't think it's NSFW. The innuendo is there but nothing shown.

Hehe, Ironik!
I agree with the Professor. I like this style too, looks very painting like.

Wonderful!

So a more painterly style it will be, might take a little longer than my usual turn around time, but it should be worth it!

Alex- I'm digging the "Digital Paint" style a lot! I've found that the difference between inks/ colors and digital painting just about evens out as far as characters go. Now, if you're painting detailed backgrounds... whole different story!

Can't wait to see more art like this!

Oh that one's nice Alex. No, really. This painting style of yours is freaking awesome.

What program are you using for this?

If it's PS, I'd love to know what brush settings you're using.

I was given this book from my employer, they sometimes get books from publishers and I guess no one wanted it, I wasn't sure if it was any good, but after going through it, I found lots of useful info:

Digital Character Design and Painting Photoshop CS edition by Don Seegmiller

I am using three brushes, Airbrush Pen Opacity, ( it's a default Photoshop brush) with Hardness set to 50%. I think I have the flow set to 25%, I use this to sketch and put in details. I also use just airbrush soft round with opacity slider around 20-40%, and I think just normal round to lay in flats.

That book is really cool, it shows you how to create a blending brush with the healing brush which is actually so much better than the smudge tool! Oh I haven't done any blending on this piece, I just mentioned the blending technique from the book cause it's really neat!

All Photoshop and tablet, wacom 9x12.
