Tharomar Enterprise (Open Drama RP)
"What can you tell me about this Omaro Vasquez, Vanessa?" Creese was smiling his best "tell me what I want to know" smile.
Vanessa was somewhat obviously affected by it, unable to contain a smile or maintain eye contact for very long. But then, it was a rather cozy elevator and quite a ride to the roof. "I don't know what to say. He seems competent, but I really don't know him personally."
"And we're going to the roof to meet him because..." She looked like she was searching for an answer, biting her lip a bit. "You have no idea."
When the door opened, Creese strode out onto the roof and headed directly toward Omaro. "Mr. Vasquez, this is Mr. Creese. Mr. Thomas has instructed me to bring him to you personally and make sure he gets everything he needs."
Creese glanced over at her from behind his sunglasses at the word "everything". Creese was dense when it came to women. He liked women, women liked him, but he had no relationship sense. Besides, not a good idea to get involved with the boss's secretary.
"I'm going to need access to people that know how the products we sell actually work." Creese stuck his hand out to offer a handshake.
Vasquez accepted it firmly, and whistled an ear-piercing whistle.
"Yea?" One of the Mercs ran over, an Asian man, thirty or so. Grizzled.
"Take 'em to the new stuff."
"Ah, yea." The trooper acknowledged, beckoning them over to the stairwell.
After a long walk down, the Trooper suddenly stopped and rapped on the wall three times. The stones cracked open, only to reveal another of Vasquez's guard, who nodded in approval. They were led through a small lab to a weapon on a display case: The Tharomar Enterprises Cryo Cannon.
"An' there ya have it." One of the Mercenaries said, patting it lightly. "Fires like a dream. Feels a bit like holding a water hose on full blast, just point 'n shoot. Ammo is fed through this slot, and comes in a liquid form....This would be perfect crowd control, as the ice melts quickly, but it's enough to incapacitate any hostile."
The soldier explained a few more details before asking, "Any questions?"

Are you kidding? Creese took off his sunglasses and stared at the device. His hand moved so quickly into his jacket that the security guard reached momentarily for his weapon, until he saw the microcomputer come out of its holster. The machine came to life in Creeses hand and he started taking notes immediately. Mean temperature of output fluid, chemical composition of output fluid, is it pressurized or propelled ammunition, how many seconds of fire on a battery, how long to reload at 120 or 240 volts, what battery sizes does it come in, how many colors does it come in and how many moving parts does it have? Are you the one to answer all of these questions or should I talk to the designer?
I also have manufacturing questions about production time, overhead, retooling the factories for upgrades and shipping replacement parts to customers. I can think of six buyers right now, I hope the president of Paraguay is still up. Creese turned away for a second and pulled his cell phone. What time is it there?
A second later he looked back at the security guard. So, am I talking to you or are we going to talk to someone else?
The guard grinned.
"We're looking at about negatve fifty degrees, celcius, mix of Nitro-G and another that you'll have to talk to the designer about, pressurized ammo, you can hold this baby for three tanks worth on one battery...And the others, yer gonna have t' ask a techie. Now I got work ta get back to - You got any more details to know 'bout how this thing actually SHOOTS, or just mumbo-jumbo for the labcoat squad?"
Kara's morning commute could have gone better. Starting her car was a chore, given the cold.
But, she figured, it would be worth it to see Mina's happy face.
She found herself almost skipping down the hall to room 2-14, with the bear in her hand. After the customary knock, Kara opened the door to Mina's room.
"Good morning Mina!" she said happily, concealing the bear behind her back.
Mina merely nodded, with a tiny smile across her face.
"I brought you something! Something I'm sure you'll remember," Kara said, moving the doll in front of her, "TA-DA!"
Mina didn't display a look of happiness.
She expressed fear. Not of the toy, which she grabbed and hugged as tight as she could burying her face in it. Her fear was of Kara. Or rather....
"You saw it, didn't you?" came Mina's voice, for the first time in years. It was as clear as a bell, like a harmonious choir of angels. Her voice carried in the room, it was quiet, subtle, yet powerful. It echoed, yet was clear as day.
It was...perfect.
"S-saw w-what?" Kara studdered.
"The house, you saw the house, right?" Mina asked, still scared, but her voice still beautiful.
"Y-yes...what happened? Do you know?" Kara asked, completely shocked.
"I do. But..." Mina trailed off, "If I tell you, you'll become involved in something you may regret. You'll be entangled in a web of lies and deceit, and dark truths you may regret ever knowing. So I ask you: Are you ready? Do you have what it takes to be involved?"
Kara was in disbelief. Here was a girl who had apparently never spoken in YEARS opening her mouth and spouting something about lies and dark truths...she didn't know what was going on, but she couldn't leave things half done.
"I do," Kara said resolutely.
"Very well," Mina said, closing her eyes, "Come back after lunch, and I'll tell you the whole story."

Penny hesitated in front of Mr. Tharomar. Something was wrong, but she couldn't place her finger on it. All at once, though, she was self-conscious at how long she had stood there, and nodded her head.
"...I'll be going now, sir." she murmured, silently thankful that he didn't seem to pay attention to her large black eye.
With that, she backed out of the office, and picked up her step towards the elevator.
It was more than time to go home. She needed a bath.

((This is Clarence's last meeting at work. Ok, lets try and start coming to the end of the work day (for those that haven't and those that don't have night shifts) and going home and whatever your nightlife consists of... who wants to be at work all the time... Remember that Christmas is in about a week so factor that in with your character and story as well. I'm sure someone has to have some kind of Christmas spirit, maybe not ))
It opened when she knocked and she looked in. "Mr Thomas, I'm Doctor Morse. I was told you wished to talk to me.
Jennifer walked in to see Clarence's face covered by his open briefcase on his desk. She could briefly hear him mumbling something about "tonight" and "last time".
"Come in," Clarence said a little louder than normal, clearing his throat and closing the briefcase, "Have a seat."
After Jennifer took her shoes off and sat down, Thomas stared at Jennifer. He stared directly into her eyes. His body was leaned to one side, two fingers rested on the temple of his head. Clarence didn't say a word. He continued to peer deeply at Jennifer. It wasn't in a sexual "I want you" sort of way, but it was still creepy and uncomfortable nonetheless.

Ever since lunch had ended, the day almost seemed to inch by whenTravis and Preston had gotten back to work. Neither men talked to each other and what was worse was that there wasn't much work to do that afternoon to keep them busy.
"I'm going to walk around a little bit, stretch the legs," Travis placed his headset down and stood up.
Preston continued to look at his computer screen, ignoring his friend.
Travis shook his head and walked to the elevators. HE didn't really know where he was going. Sometimes he enjpyed closing his eyes and pressing one of the many number-laden buttons that took him to a different floor in the building. This time was no different. Travis opened his eyes to see that he had pressed the eleventh floor.
The elevators moved with unusual speed, travis always noticed. It reminded him of the freefall rides they have at the amusement parks. When the doors opened again, he recognized where he was and smiled. The floor looked almost like his, except a different manner of business was conducted here.
He stepped out and made his way through the twists and turns of the office area. Every cubicle had its own personality, a work of art. It was like walking through a museum sometimes. There was one, however, that never ceased to amaze him. A cubicle that had nothing in it or on it.
Except a small glass globe on a simple wooden stand.
Travis could already hear the jingling music as he got closer and closer to the cubicle.
"Heya Walter," Travis sat his arm on the top of the cubicle wall as he leaned, "ya got a minute?"
~~~
Monica had answered her last call of the day. It was alreay going on 5 and she still needed to get ready for class. As if evening traffic wasn't enough, it was the Christmas season and it was snowing.
Vanessa, you're on your own.
Monica stood up and clocked herself out on the computer before she shut it all down. She liked the job, but she was always ready to leave. Monica grabbed her purse, and a few files of paperwork and headed to the elevator.
It was a long ride from the top floor, but she didn't mind.
Next stop class then.... party hardy.
Ernesto Jimenez scratched something behind his ear as he made his way into the lobby of Tharomar Enterprises. He was wearing his customary grey, oil-stained coverall underneath a jacket that was too thin for the December cold.
"Feliz Navidad," he said to the security guard who checked his ID card every night.
For the last two years, Ernesto had been working as a mechanic by day, and a janitor by night. He had immigrated to America from Mexico several years earlier, and since then was working his hardest to make enough money to bring his wife and child to the U.S. as well.
"Mira," he said, showing the guard the picture of his daughter. His English wasn't perfect, and sometimes he slipped back into Mexican. A lot of people thought Mexicans spoke Spanish, but any true Mexicano would point out that Mexican and Spanish were slightly different. Like English and American.
"Isn't she pretty in her Christmas dress?" he asked the security guard.
"Lovely," the man agreed absently.
He was so very proud of his family, but he didn't know many people. Ernesto would show anyone his photos if they gave him half a chance.
After check-in, he made his way to the custodial office in the basement. He hung up his jacket in his locker, and made sure to take his note-pad and pencil out. Though he only had a minimal level of eduction, and wasn't a very strong reader, he loved to sketch ideas he had for new gadgets.
Ernesto loaded up his cart with cleaning supplies, and gave his mop bucket a good scrubbing before filling it with hot soapy water. He then headed for the service elevator and headed up to the offices.
Perhaps there might still be some people in the office to talk to and show the picture of his beautiful daughter in her fancy dress.
((Also, there is an annual T.E. Ball hosted by Tharomar Enterprises on New Year's Eve... very big event...that, while everyone doesn't have to go (this isn't like any of the RP schools, its work, we have our own schedules to keep), it is still strongly encouraged. Its free to at least the employees anyway... mark that in your RP calendars. More info on that to come.))
Walter jumped a bit in surprise, fidgeting with his glasses as he looked up at the younger man.
"Oh, Travis," he said after recognizing the other employee. "Yeah sure. Just let me back this up real quick." He made a few quick taps on the keyboard and minimized the screen.
"There," he adjusted his glasses again, turning back toward Travis. "So, what did you need?"
Penny sighed as she packed up her belongings in the office. The others had gone home long ago, and it was really late. She hated the commute home - especially in the wintertime.
Her birthday was coming up; the day after New Year's, and that would be a nice change of pace. Maybe she'd get to see her family, but likely not. They lived across the country now. Paul was in engineering school, and her parents - well, she never heard from them.
A soft clack heralded the arrival of the night janitor, and Penny turned as she finished packing her files away. Ernesto was a good guy, and he got altogether too little credit from the other whitecollars, who often messied the office on purpose and then joked about him having to clean it up.
Penny hated cleaning; she couldn't imagine doing it for a living.
"Hola Ernesto." she said with a little smile. "How's it going tonight? Is it that time already?"
The bruises on her arms and face seemed to be ripening to prepare to come into full glory tomorrow, and she crossed her legs a little self-consciously to lamely hide the long tear in her stockings.
Ernesto perked up when he saw Penny. She was always so nice to him. The scant few minutes he might be able to see her each night were the reason he liked to be early to work.
"Hola, Miss Penny," he said back, rolling his cart to her. "Muy Bien. Y tu? Mira," he said before she had a chance to respond, producing the picture of Anita in her dress and handing it to Penny.
"Dios mio," he gasped as he noticed her bruises, "Are you fine?"
"Ah, que precioso!" Penny cooed at the picture of Anita. Her Spanish was clumsy at best - she'd abandoned it after the three years in highschool, and even now it was tempered by that damn summer of Italian study - but she still tried. And Ernesto's little girl really was cute.
"How old is she now?" she mused, looking at the picture a little longer. "She's so cute. You should be proud."
At his concern, she laughed unsurely. "Oh...Don't worry. I fell down three flights of stairs, but I'm okay. Nothing hurt but my pride."
Penny looked a little sheepish behind her cracked glasses. Gawd, she was embarassed. At work she liked to play the tough girl just a little, and looking like she'd been smacked around was kind of humiliating.
"Gracias," he said sincerely. "She is four now. I have not seen since she was baby. Very soon, I think, I will be able to take her here, and mi espousa."
Ernesto looked around a little nervously. He didn't want anyone to see him not working. He always tried to be a good worker, so he snatched Pennies waste basket and emptied it slowly into his bin.
"Maybe I put... how you say it? .. bounce? at the bottom of stairs. Then you don't get hurt, Si?"
Milly sighed, for some reason, she had felt as thou the world had slowed down some after Mr. Tharomar's office, but the trick had ended and she soon found herself well past the time she was to leave.
"Darn," She sighed looking at the clock on the mail room wall. "I missed the last bus. Looks like I'm walking home."
Grabbing her coat, Mily locked the room up and made her way to the enterance, thinking that a skirt, while showing her best attribute, was not really the best thing to be walking in on a winter night.
"Oh! Evening Miss Penny," She smiled at the woman and the night janitor. "Mr. Jimenez, I hope you have a quiet night sir."
...Wait a minute. Didn't she usually take the bus?
"...Dude, you're not walking home tonight, are you?" Penny asked, folding her arms crossly. "Winter advisory. You'll break your neck walkin', and that'll make two of us running around looking like social work cases tomorrow."
Turning back to Ernesto, she paused. "...Hey, are you gonna get to go home for Christmas?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. "Let me know. And Milly!" she shouted. "Wait up for me; I'll give you a ride home."
Jason watched Ernesto load up his janitorial supplies and head off. The tall man sighed and stretched. He knew that Ernesto was very proud of his kid, but Jason just couldnt see the beauty in babies or young kids. Theyre noisy, theyre wild, they suck up all your time. He had lost several good friends who no longer had time for him now that they had kids. He knew that the same thing would be happening to Fred soon, too, so Jason had started to distance himself even further from his partner.
Finally, Jason said as his night shift replacement came in. I thought you would never get here. The captain had Khell and Fred running all over the place, and I never got out of this area.
Jason headed back to the monitor room and grabbed his bag. Fred wandered in as well and grinned Jason. Finally, were done. It took a lot longer than I thought it would.
Jason grunted non-commitedly.
Youve become quite the conversationalist, Stoney, Fred said lightly, pulling on his winter jacket.
Jason grunted again, this time casting a sly eye over at Fred.
Fred laughed, catching the look. You take care, Stoney. Ill see you tomorrow. The wife is waiting. With a cheerful look and a bounce much to energetic for someone who had been at work all day, Fred hurried out.
Stoney finished pulling on his gloves, grabbed his bag, and headed out for home.
Ernesto waved at Milly with a grin. He motioned to Penny.
"Show her it, la photographia," he prompted.
The night janitor smiled when Penny asked him if he would be home for Christmas, but his eyes betrayed his sadness.
"No, Miss Penny," he said, trying to sound happy, "Is too much, y yo no tengo for that. I will work mi otro trabajo. They will pay extra for it, and that will help muy mucho."
"Send in Ms. Morse."
"Yessir."
Once Mr. Creese had finally walked out of the office, Vanessa quickly stood up and straightened herself nervously. She had been watching the door in anticipation for when he would step out.
"Mr. Creese," Vanessa smiled, "If you will follow me, I can take you who you need to see."
And maybe what you want to see... Vanessa's eyes subtly surveyed Ryan's body as she slowly stepped from behind her desk. She approached the floor elevator and waited.
Monica phoned Security, "Hey, its Monica. Send up Ms. Morse if you haven't already. Mr. Thomas is ready to see her. Thanks."
Jen was almost done with her medical journal. The latest findings into attacking Cancer with genetically modified white blood cells was astounding. She was tapped on the shoulder by one of the guards. "Ms Morse, Mr Thomas is ready for you." He said.
Jen almost corrected him then thought, "Oh hell he won't remember anyway. I don't look like your typical doctor." She just smiled and got up putting her journal into her bag. She followed the guard up to a very fancy office. "Thank you." She said knocking on the door. It opened when she knocked and she looked in. "Mr Thomas, I'm Doctor Morse. I was told you wished to talk to me.
