((*giggles*))

A set of old mops leaning haphazardly near a shelf full of chemical was all he found down stairs. Duct taping them to the wall so they wouldn't fall and trip someone, he returned to the elevator. As the door closed, he shut his eyes and hit a button at random. Opening them again he saw the panel set for floor seven.

"Ohh lucky number seven, hoooaaah." he boasted to himself.

He hadn't been in the marines, but was quite the enthusiast of them. Though in his private opinion there was flaws in the way all military operated. Mostly that they weren't powerful enough to truely do their purpose. Too many compromises in the name of saving money, as if the money was more important. Though that quality over quantity ideal contradicted how he tended to fix things. When it counted he could do a fabulously skilled job, but usually it was just too much fun to simply rig things up.

"hmm" he mused as the doors opened.

Stepping out he looked around and grinned as he made a quick mental list of things to watch for.

((Hey guys... Regretably so, I gotta freeze things on here. Life, Work, Family, and travelling sort of taking a lot of time. I apologize for not geting back sooner. Love to get back to this eventually. Unfortunately, right now, I can't commit to it anymore. Again, I apologize. If there's anyone who wanted to take it over, that's fine, just let me know and I'll be more than happy to shoot you details and whatnot. ))

((OK, I'm sorry for necroposting to such an extent, but...

Does anyone else miss this thread as much as I do? T_T

I've been reading through it and I remember how much fun it was to play with everyone....Mithril Zeta, Ninjin...the people I don't usually get to see.

Is anyone interested in starting this up again? If so, who wants to GM it? Has anyone talked to Nin? T___T))

((I also enjoyed playing- Stoney and Fred are fun characters and I did really enjoy the interctions with everyone. I'd be willing to join up again - although i now have to re-read to see where we are and what happened. *blushes* Memory ain't what it used to be.))

((I'd be happy to restart this sometime. Only hitch I've got is that Nij said he had a story planned, and hasn't posted on the boards at all since that last one he made here. However, if enough of yalls want to go ahead with his, tell me and I'll get the ball rolling again.))

((I'd love to get this started up again. XD Percy was going to become a character of mine whose backstory simply wasn't going to be fully explained otherwise, and. . . heh. XD; It'd be fun.))

OOC: I may or may not rejoin with a completely different character. It all depends on whether or not I can get out of this annoying [censored] slump I'm in.

Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.

Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.

NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.

((I'm willing to consider it. Though Milly's not an active character in CoX anymore. I may join in with another girl I've been trying to work the backstory out on.... >.> ))

((I'd say that's a slew of positive votes! Let's get this corporation up and running again!!

...I'll wait for someone else to post in character before I get posting again. And one thing I liked about this - we really laid off this thread, you know? Let's keep up a moderate pace so we don't leave people behind. *wags finger at those of us (and self) who are prone to posting quickly*))

The large leather office chair slowly turned as Howard Tharmoar spun his view from his LCD monitor to the windows of his office, his hands folded in front of his face, the man in deep thought. The sunrise was bright, cheery, and beautiful; the man watching it lost in a sea of tumult.

The damage from the terrorist attack had been repaired quickly, the company's construction division (one of Tharomar's most prided branches) having reconstructed almost every bit of damaged building in just this one night. Howard could be proud of their efforts.

Still, this had been a major setback. Project Forecast was on hold until further notice, and the terrorists still had not been caught. Development went on as scheduled, of course, just the rocket had been placed on lockdown for now, and it'd likely stay that way until the men who'd attempted the assassination had been found.

Well, not yet.

Tharomar caught himself smirking at the thought of what would happen when Omaro Vasquez got a hold of them.

Not if - when. The man was good, his methods better, and his execution of orders downright best. He and his men were most certainly worth their salary.

"I'd like a current report of any further setbacks caused by last night's incident." Tharomar requested of his secretary via the speakerphone, "Please make sure every division's head submits a detailed report on any shortcomings they may have suffered. We don't want things to slow down too much..."

Percy Newman's perfectly polished little blue car pulled into the parking lot. He was just about on time today, and he would not need to walk unusually fast in order to reach his cubicle on time. He had calculated that a long time ago.

As the weather was getting colder, he was sporting a deep blue jacket over his usual attire as he walked into the building, unconcerned as usual with the people passing him by. After all, he would not want to get snow on his uniform. . . and he had always felt that making small talk was of little importance. It merely wasted the precious time that he, at the very least, rarely had enough of.

This, of course, had probably happened earlier this morning, as it did most mornings, since as it happened, Percy was already here, as previously stated. Perhaps this was an overdone flashback sequence Percy was going through as he sat in his cubicle, typing up a report of how his department had been affected, which was essentially not at all. Or perhaps it was that sometimes, the days really seemed to blur together.

((XD There, edited.))

((Hal, you already had Percy show up this morning. Percy = R(Percy +1)? XD XD))

"NICHOLSON!!"

"Whaaaaaaaaaat!?"

Penny swivelled around in her office chair, her eyes rather twitchy behind her thin glasses. Coffee Number Seven was down the hatch.

Never again will I pull an all-nighter involving explosions, hospitals, and cookies. she thought.

Her manager, Don, was leaning over her desk while the others in her cubicle worked.

"Listen, Penny." he said stormily. "I don't know what happened last night, but you were the last one from this office in the building. And as such it is YOUR responsibility to type out the report for Mr. Tharomar."

"Are you kidding?" Penny asked wryly, raising an eyebrow. "So it's my fault that you loaded me up with overtime on my day off, might I add, and almost got killed last night with Milly and the Janitor in the crossfire between terrorists, Angels of Death, and a MECHA, so I have to write your GOD DAMN MOTHER [censored] [censored]-FACED [censored] [censored] SON OF A [censored] REPORT?"

The last statement ended up a little louder than Penny had intended...and for once, she felt a little self-conscious.

Don glared at her openly, and her cubemates glanced over quizzically, giggling amongst themselves.

There was only one way to mitigate this situation.

"Great, no problem!" she said with a toothpaste-ad smile, her fingers twitching a bit. "I'll have it typed up in two shakes!"

OOC: So, lessee,.......

What the heck happened? I think I left about half-way through this thing, anyway. I don't remember anything about a terrorist attack.

Statesman said let there be heroes, and there were heroes.

Lord Recluse said let there be villains, and there were villains.

NCsoft said let there be nothing, and there was nothing.

William Baxter was used to the weight of his case as he strolled along a cubicle farm checking for hazards. A series of yelled remarks from elsewhere in the room distracted him a moment nearly causing another incident. Quickly realizing the woman whose desk he had been staring under was glaring back he blushed and raised a hand to rub his head.

"Just checking for loose and damaged cords ma'am; honestly meant no offense at all. Names William; I'm the safety coordinator and just started here. If you could pass around the word watch fer dangerous stuff and holler at me; I'd appreciate it most kindly."

Spotting one person with a burning candle, he paused and took note of the scene around it. A loose stack of papers moved slightly to the breeze from a vent above, as she absentmindedly dug through her purse. He also watched, oblivious to her at the moment, in horror as she pulled out a can of hair spray and a comb.

The day shift security guards were sitting in the Security Control room, watching the video from the previous night. Every so often, the smaller one would wince.

The tall skinny one’s fingers danced across the computer console as the footage ended. “They get to have all the fun,” Stoney said.

Fred through a quick look at his laconic companion. “don’t look now, but I think you just made a funny.”

Stoney shrugged. “I do that every so often to through you off. Better get to the front desk, Fred.”

Fred shook his head and headed towards the front desk.

William made for the stairs like a bandit with the woman storming not far behind. The case in his right hand rattled as he cradled her candle in the left. Busting open the stairs, he leaped down the first flight hitting with a thud. Not letting the impact slow him down, he grunted off the pain and darted normally down the next set. It was only a couple of stories down before he realized she had given up. He wasn't sure what floor he was on now, but didn't sweat it. Strolling out of the stairwell, he took a look around. Dropping the contraband flammable into his case, he resumed inspections.

Vasquez sat in his Headquarters room and grumbled. Having still not had any sleep, the 'security captain' was now filing his after-action report for Tharomar running on straight up caffeine.

He looked over at the security level indicators. Having gone another six hours with no secondary attack, he bumped it down one notch.

---

One of the two guards posted around nearly every entryway and elevator slacked to an at ease position and moved out to cover more mundane tasks.

---

The Lieutenant lording over the 'regular' security, still in his Special Operations getup, glanced down at the indicator of the lowered level and nodded, holstering his SCAR Rifle.

"Stay vigilant, though." He instructed the guards, "This isn't over yet."
