William made for the stairs like a bandit with the woman storming not far behind. The case in his right hand rattled as he cradled her candle in the left. Busting open the stairs, he leaped down the first flight hitting with a thud. Not letting the impact slow him down, he grunted off the pain and darted normally down the next set. It was only a couple of stories down before he realized she had given up. He wasn't sure what floor he was on now, but didn't sweat it. Strolling out of the stairwell, he took a look around. Dropping the contraband flammable into his case, he resumed inspections.
-
William Baxter was used to the weight of his case as he strolled along a cubicle farm checking for hazards. A series of yelled remarks from elsewhere in the room distracted him a moment nearly causing another incident. Quickly realizing the woman whose desk he had been staring under was glaring back he blushed and raised a hand to rub his head.
"Just checking for loose and damaged cords ma'am; honestly meant no offense at all. Names William; I'm the safety coordinator and just started here. If you could pass around the word watch fer dangerous stuff and holler at me; I'd appreciate it most kindly."
Spotting one person with a burning candle, he paused and took note of the scene around it. A loose stack of papers moved slightly to the breeze from a vent above, as she absentmindedly dug through her purse. He also watched, oblivious to her at the moment, in horror as she pulled out a can of hair spray and a comb. -
hmm, I'd have to chose 2 RP characters:
-----
Lilly Amanda Powers(very young villian child):
Primary Weapon: Cuteness..
She uses it to lure common street thugs into fighting for her protection and the whims of childish yet deadly games with other creatures she encounters.
Secondary Weapon: A pair of modified .50 Desert Eagles...
Gifts from her overprotective Aunt Dorothy. They are a bit big for her, knocking her down when used. Also very heavy and hard to aim, but full auto helps with that a bit.
-------
Nathan Stone aka HCA 01(hero):
He carries a big double bit axe. One side is dulled and rounded to not cut targets. This allows him to simply bludgeon them into submission without too permanent of injury. The other side is a specially hardened alloy that requires a diamond file to resharpen. He keeps a very keen edge on it for slicing through machines and especially resilient or undead biologicals. -
Not sure... My youngest character's bio puts her at 1 month old (Fairy baby); but Lilly's a villian. Not really a min for that.
If child prodigy's can get in higher schools, don't know why a hero couldn't be younger than normal too. -
((*giggles*))
A set of old mops leaning haphazardly near a shelf full of chemical was all he found down stairs. Duct taping them to the wall so they wouldn't fall and trip someone, he returned to the elevator. As the door closed, he shut his eyes and hit a button at random. Opening them again he saw the panel set for floor seven.
"Ohh lucky number seven, hoooaaah." he boasted to himself.
He hadn't been in the marines, but was quite the enthusiast of them. Though in his private opinion there was flaws in the way all military operated. Mostly that they weren't powerful enough to truely do their purpose. Too many compromises in the name of saving money, as if the money was more important. Though that quality over quantity ideal contradicted how he tended to fix things. When it counted he could do a fabulously skilled job, but usually it was just too much fun to simply rig things up.
"hmm" he mused as the doors opened.
Stepping out he looked around and grinned as he made a quick mental list of things to watch for. -

Yeh. Okay. Jus' be careful testin' wiff dat stuff.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mr. Baxter just nodded grinning and closed up the case. Locking it again, so nothing could spill, he stood as the other man spoke.
[ QUOTE ]
William Van Watt... Director of Research and Development. If there is somenthing I can assist you with, I will be happy to render it.
[/ QUOTE ]
William slapped his side chuckling and grinned back.
"Well I'll be jiggered you's a just being friendly and saying hi whiles securities over thar. This here's a friendly place fo shure. Truely a pleasure to meey ya all."
Walking further into the lobby he took another gander about. The mail room supposidly had a spot for him with forms and things, but his office was mostly in his hand. He looked at the staircase entrance briefly then decided those are best checked top down. Moving to the elevators, he called one down to get him. Stepping inside one that arrived, he chuckled at the large array of buttons.
*It would be good to do some surprise wanderings before word gets around to much*
"First stop mail room.... somewhere..."
Taking an vaguely educated guess, he hit the button for the first basement floor. Didn't matter much to him if he was wrong, had lots of time. That was one of the reasons he had been hired, patience, that and through years of woodmanship he was very observant. As the lift moved downstairs, he smiled in rememberance of his last job. He liked being liked, and others enjoyed how he could fix things from what was at hand. Whistling to himself as the ding sounded to opening doors, he stepped out to explore. -
[ QUOTE ]
Pop 'er open.
[/ QUOTE ]
William looked over at the guard still grinning casually.
"And how you doing too?" he greeted.
Plopping the case down, he took out a modest set of keys from his pocket. Unlocking it, and returning the keys, he lifted the lid to hang open. Standing back up he put his hands on his hips and just nodded a go ahead. Inside were cable ties, a small first aid kit, duct tape, electrical tape, bailing wire, mini-hacksaw, portable oxygen/mapp torch, welding googles, brazing rods, pliers, wire cutters, screwdrivers, select wrenches, a heavy framing hammer, a plastic bag of spare nails and screws; electrical meter, armored flashlight, and a pack of chewing gum.
"Yeah I'll prob need to add a few things as I get used to the place." he commented. -
Nothing published here, but working on a couple personal books. First is 180+ pages, 2nd in progress 14 chaps not compiled a size yet. It's not easy sometimes, you can have an entire scene to the last detail in your head for weeks and it still takes hours to write a page of it down. So just keep at it and don't give up.

It is important to know how to make an entrance.
[/ QUOTE ]
Accustomed to the weight of his case, William effortlessly swapped it to his left hand. Offering out the right one for a strong but friendly shake, he smiled back broadly.
"Yes sir, indeed it is; yet sorry for the ruckus. Names William Baxter, the new Coordinator of Safety for the Building. Ya know fallin, fire hazards, icky stuff where it shoudn't be, and stuff like that. Its a pleasure to meet someone in security first. Ya'll got any thing about me just wandering around pretty freely like? Not wanting to get nobody in any troubles as I go about things. Matter of fact, I'm looking forward to being helpful to ya uhuh"
Pausing his lively ramble a minute he just stood there grinning. As the case swayed in his grasp it rattled slightly from the loose overfilled contents. -
((Thanks for the invite Ninjin; apologies for the delay getting started... *looks at the post count and whistles* yeah thats my story
))
There were some jobs that were far funner than their official description sounded. And occasionally they paid pretty well because noone else took them. William Baxter checked the badge attached to his blue jean jacket. Today was his first day as "Safety Coordinator" at the complex. He was charged with making sure the majority of the building was a safe place for everyone around him. Wearing a red and black flannel shirt tucked into black blue jeans and a dark brown duster he grinned broadly. On his belt was a muliplier on each side, and he carried an aluminum tool case that had to weigh 30 pounds. Wandering through the X-Ray machine he laughed as the alarms went off.
"Oh good they work he commented."
Holding out his ID for security, he evaluated how people responded to the noise. There was no point in having alarms if people ignored them.
((5'9" Dark brown eyes and matching short parted hair, olive complextion, 150lb modestly strong but not sculpted. All in all relatively average looking guy.)) -
[ QUOTE ]
I have sworn an oath on my life and weapon to do what is in the best interest for our kind, but I have the benefit of seeing two paths, where Consort-Inquisitor has only one.
[/ QUOTE ]
Point-defense listened intently to the other Mu, mulling the commentary over in his mind. He lived and breathed for the Guard, but whether that was one person or an entity of itself he was unsure. Laying his rifle over his shoulder he met each of them squarly in the eye. Then turning his weapon in his hands he examined it and spoke carefully.
[ QUOTE ]
Would you two like to test your skills in battle?
[/ QUOTE ]
"Words are many, but I will follow and judge this for myself if you will allow it." -
[ QUOTE ]
Was that an Atlantean?”...“I thought they were a myth.”
[/ QUOTE ]
Point limply hung his weapon down and looked at the floor shaking his head in shame. Never did he think one, let alone four outsides would make it inside of the base. It was discraceful to him that he'd hadn't been in a position to kill them.
"And this is what happens... I was ordered to rest, that is not my fault."
Shaking his head he turned to find the galley. -
Point Defense. looked back at his relief having left the post only because he was ordered to do so after his shift. The other Mu seemed compentant but it was not him and thus had a less trust. Keeping his weapon at ready, he peered around a corner then lept to the opposite side facing down the corridor. Moving further down to the next intersection, he repeated the tactical manuever. This was the heart of the base, but it didn't matter. Comfort was the friend of the enemy and in the Name of the Mu and the Black Guard he would never drop his guard.
[ QUOTE ]
“Have the mammals already found us here? Or does that sort of thing happen often?”
[/ QUOTE ]
Peering around the corner he studied the men, recognizing them only as friend as he searched for an enemy. Throwing some caltrops towards a door way, he scooted cautiously into the room. Scanning one door for the enemy he would keep his rifle pointed that way as he checked the next. Seeing nothing he spoke one simple word.
"Clear." -
There was a tinkling sound near the main entrance way as a new batch of caltrops were strategically tossed out across half of the floor. The soldier, one of the Black Guard, raised his weapon arching it in practiced rythym over his field of fire. It was an excersise repeated countless times such that he could kill any intruders without having to open his eyes. Point-defense lowered his weapon and replaced his rifles ammo with a fresh batch rotating that magazine to a side pile of 2.23 and some forty mill's that had been loaded before. It appeared wasteful, but ensured readiness as every function was tested and rested on a random timetable. For this was his job, to ensure that anyone coming through without permission died.
