Thanks everyone for the comments on the first two. I want to give digital painting a try I just need to find some good tutorials to get me started. I'd love to use paint on Belladonna instead of the old ink and color pencil method I used on the old ones.

I almost forgot all about Champions (I still have most of the books)! From way back in 1992 before I lost my soul...err... I mean a couple of years before I was married, heres 4 of my old characters.

Vortex

Exodus

Shifter

Asylum

Ah Champions! I wish I had kept the character pics I drew for my characters when I was still playing. At least I was able to make one of those characters in CoH (The Soul Keeper in my sig) Great work!

These two were done around a year before the above.

Back when I use to do everything by brush and ink bottle: the 80s!

Dr. Doom & The Thing
Captain America (pencil)

(sorry for the bad pics, these were taken with a cheap camera)

[/ QUOTE ]
Love the Dr. Doom! And, for some reason - the Captain America makes me things of Jim Steranko (not sure why). Good stuff!

See, now Vortex makes me want to create a new COH hero in a cool, shiney chrome costume! How'd you get the small, shaded, rectangle box pattern in the reddish background?

It was all done by hand I used a rapidograph set for the inking and the color was done with colored pencils.

Rapidograph! Man I haven't heard that word in eons... I hated cleaning the buggers, it was almost worth getting a new one then having to clean them all the time. Nice work Nightchill, good luck with the digital in the future...

Video killed the Radio Star and Digital killed the Rapido My pens finally died while I was taking a break I thought about trying to pick up a set off of Ebay, but if things go well with learning the digital stuff I wouldn't need them. I've been looking for guides on digital for beginners that don't read like stereo instructions Theres still something though with doing it all by hand.

Yeah by hand can't be beat, but once you get in the groove with digital, it's like falling over to the Dark Side. You don't understand the POWER!!! Just kidding, here's a super link of links to get you started, some of them aren't there anymore, but a lot are...

Ok, Can't believe I'm doing this but here it goes.

Some of these date back to when I was 10. Starting with the oldest ones.

These ones were done in grade 6 and 7 (age 10-11)

Horton Hairs a Who

The Grinch

The White Rabbit

A rather plump Simba

Pocahontas

Grumpy

These were done in highschool art class (sorry, they have been through a few moves)

Girl

Gambit and Rogue (the one I ended up painting on the cafeteria wall)

And this one was a lame attempt at my fire blaster back when CoH was first released.

Oh my! We have some great artists in our presence! I used to do lots of anime or comic book styles just like you guys; I'll see if I can bring some of that stuff up, and maybe I'll throw a little realism in there! I'm only a Junior in High School, so I'm working on my portfolio right now... (None of my work is at my house!)

There are indeed a lot of very talented people on these boards. And then there is me.

There is a link to a gallery of mine in my signature, but I have a few more pieces floating around in places... Surprisingly I've found a lot from '03, but not much from before then... Anyway *shrug* A large portion of my stuff is mythologically based, but there's a not-small amount that is Superhero-y. And some is even work-safe.

Lopsided faces? Musta been my "Liefeld period."
I went through a whole "cloudcover" theme for a while, too.
See? Clouds.
...And wings... I had a wing thing going on, too.
Snakes, on the other hand, lasted all of a single picture.
Oh! And then there was my brainstorming characters for years and years trying to come up with a comicbook team that would bring my love for the Greek Pantheon in line with my love for Comicbooks... It never went anywhere..

Heh, I dunno. I spent probably 5-10 hours pencilling that back in the day (I have a really meticulous shading style... Starting with 4H and working my way down to B or 2B... It takes a long time but it produces results that can't be replicated through any other method). I'm not really eager to try coloring it.

Besides, I rarely do a conventional ink and color... I either leave it at pencils or do a full digital paint.

Funny that this topic is here. While cleaning out their house, my parents came across boxes of my childhood belongings, including a collection of very old artwork, like this:

Chromosphere then

Chromosphere was a character I had designed back in elementary school, when I was just discovering the joys of comic books. According to the date under my signature at the bottom, I made this "character sheet," when I was nine years old. My favorite part - though you probably cannot read it well enough to tell - is the little (tm) next to his name in the descriptions, and the copyright 1990 symbol written in pencil in the far corner, as if doing either of those things would make them legally my intellectual property. If memory serves, this was to stop the other artist kid in my grade from stealing things from my desk and taking credit for them, as he liked to do. Ah, kids...

This was seventeen years ago, and I still remember a LOT about Chromosphere, to the point where I couldnt resist doing a quick little resketch and a cheap coloring job. (this old sketch doesnt show his costume colors, but I still remember them.)

Chromosphere now

This was a lot of fun. I'm hoping to find more old memories during the cleaning.

I drew a fair bit in the early 90's but gave it up for about 5 years. This one I drew when I first came to Korea and started plotting out what I wanted my CoH main to look like.

Funny, Cryptic ended up liking the name as well.

This is a webpage that I built YEARS ago (like 10 years maybe), with alot of digital art I did in college with PhotoShop, Illustrator, and the then-DOS-based 3D Studio. I'm surprised that it's still up since honestly, I left that ISP about 9 years ago

Hey there's some great stuff in here! And it's cool to see how folks have grown.

Okay, here's some old stuff of mine, and when I say old, I mean old.

This one was completed around the same time as another image that I actually bothered to sign and date so, it's circa 1986, which was while I was in junior college.

Strange Monkey Man

Here's my comic strip from the college newspaper, from 1989 or so:
