Personally, while I completely disagree with most of the "useless powers" being useless. This actually has the potential to be a pretty decent guide. At the moment though, I'd say it's not really so much a guide as it is just a list of some powers that generally require some skill/discretion. (Not all of them mind you...I'm looking at YOU Temperature Protection)

Unfortunately the title here is somewhat lacking as well. However, if more or less the same types of powers were grouped together in a thread where the new players were actually tutored a bit in their uses. Now that could be a useful guide.

I can't imagine telling a new controller don't take Dim. Shift because you're new and can't use it properly. Or telling a blaster not to take Lightning Clap (which really is a pretty decent control).

Good luck on the next incarnation of this guide. I look forward to it.

I think any player should take whatever power than enjoy using. We were all newer players and no one told us not to use this or that for a lack of knowledge or experience.

Somebody should start a "A Guide of Terrible Guides, not suited for newer players" and start with this one.

I've got to say I disagree with every thing this guide has to say. All of it. comprehensively.

i only agree that one power there is useless, that being Temperature Protection, i mean cmon, on a fire tank? u r already capped for fire resist thru the other shields, so all it gets u if THREE slotted for resist is ~15% cold prot...whoopee

Agree completely, horrible, horrible power.

Of course, that would be a short guide...

heres the thing there is alot more powers that are situational. Take gale please! I hate gale 99% of the time as a scrapper or tanker I end up having to chase clear across a mission to get to mobs and sometimes it causes aggro of mobs in another group as someone tries to get to the mob. Gale has its uses like when you have the mob in an alcove and you want to use it as a soft control but most of the time gale will cause confusion and anger in teammates. I bet if you went through every powerset you would find 1 or 2 powers that a new player shouldnt take, is situation, or simply "useless" to someone based on thier needs/build. You should have made a guide showing some of the powers that are situational or overused and tips on how to use them properly so as not to anger your team.

Great idea I think ill make a different incarnation of this guide. Hopefully it wont be flamed as much, this one did deserve it though.

This thread title is hysterical, and begging for juicy flamage.
I must however heartily agree that sleeping powers are wasted on any pickup team.. maybe if you're in a very well established team... and who's seen one of those in years?? IMHO, they're a total waste..
But who can believe that this thread's this old and noone's mentioned that 70% of any bubbler's powers shouldn't be used... ever... by experts... in good teams... on good days?
