Nymie, I've done as you've asked and looked at the picture with a critical eye. I believe that I have found something "off". This picture is reminiscient of the poster from the movie "Striptease", and I think it's a good concept. However, I think that you've made the girl's torso too long just so you could show her breasts. If she had a wider torso, in relation to the length of it, it would work. It just appears that she does not have enough mass to her to wrap around her leg to grab her other ankle, not without seriously hunching her body further and blocking her breasts.

Take a look at this picture from the movie and see my point, I hope. example

That's just my two cents, take it to heart or don't. But overall, this is a very nice piece. Keep up the good work.

And WHY would you compare CoX art with something you saw on PPV?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because its an accurate pose comparison? <o.O> I mean it *is* just about the same pose; not identical; but very close - and given the lack of clothing in the pic, it keeps the attention focused on anatomical detail. Thus - it makes perfect sense ^^

[/ QUOTE ]

I always found comparing a real persons dimentions and size to something comic booky to be rather pointless. But that's just me.

[/ QUOTE ]
Plus she is all hunched over in that poster. I can bend you over if you like though.

[/ QUOTE ]

Umm, no that's ok. I like the pose you have better.

Psst. Hey you. Yeah you. Keept it down. Can you spare a buddy a critique?

I believe I incorporated much of what was discussed.

To quote a friend of mine...

Excuse me, but I have nothing to say!

(Other then that it looks good, but you didn't hear that from me.)

I actually don't like the change. The softer features are something I'm fond of, the way I draw myself. The lines to me make her look rather boney in the face and mean.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree with this. Besides: Fangs? Fangs?? She's a Witch, not a vamp. Whatever.
I guess that's more of the price to be paid when the Subject is part of some greater conceptual imagery.

Just a quick note, the entire picture is all wrong.

Everyone knows that when you wear a witch hat that your hair goes to another dimension.

All joking aside, it looks quite solid. Start solidifying those lines a bit more and throw some color in it. Looks damn cute so far

Going back through to ensure I took into consideration all the suggestions, I found this...

First off, you have a Nym original. Sure, it looks like crap, but you have one. Second, I am highly unlikely (accidents do happen) to use that pose again. Maybe something similar. Third, I have a few things that will be keeping me busy for a while so even if I did promise to do it, there's a possibility it would be the holiday season before I could start on anything other than loose sketches.

That being said, I really enjoyed the critiquing service and will recommend it to all my friends. Just as soon as I make some. I'm not done with this picture yet, and any critiques on the most recent image are still appreciated. Soon I'll start the inking process. It takes me forever to ink since that is when I actually add most of my line variations and details.

Posted

Oh, no i wasn't asking you to do one Just saying I always wanted a pose 'like' that but not exactly the same. maybe one of my future pieces! Or maybe something I draw myself.

Posted

I just like playing with you. In all seriousness I am planning on focusing on pieces for friends and SG members after this piece is done, then possibly spread out like an infection to the rest of the CoHV community.

Posted

That's my plan too !

Posted

Hex Girl was asking me where I was at with this, so I thought I would share with everyone. I have begun the inking process. I am a really slow inker. That, and I am tweaking the face a little. I wasn't completely happy with it.

Fairly low quality screen capture

Looks very good!

Agreed on both counts <@_@> I like!

Sorry about the wait everyone. I'm pretty slow when it comes to inking, and I kept reworking some things.

Here she is.

I am uncertain at this point if I will color her or not at this point.

Posted

I'll color !

Go for it!

I may later as well. Right now I'm going to take a break from it.
