HemilyTiger (WIP, WIP it good!)
*Blank stare.*
I have not words...
For how neat that looks. :O
*drools*
Rox will so be getting one of these....
Graver, that looks freaking awesome. Just wanted to throw that out there. :P
Dang, mucho impressive.
I guess that when my art rolls around, you're going to need to make Imp's hand the size of M1A1 tanks, then. Correct?
@TheImperial
I like Hem's button! =^_^=
That is going to be another wonderful pic Graver! Just one question...is she supposed to be jumping in the air and just letting her sword dangle below her? Or is she balancing on the sword like on top of a pole or something. Because it is pretty much centered right below her bodymass when I first saw your rough sketches I though it was a flag pole she had climbed.
Oh, and.....
*moaaaaaaans for Graver*

He mentioned something about a tree I bet you she's sitting on a limb. Took me a while to figure that one out though.
I too thought the shot could have easily went with her balancing on that sword. Either way, a tree it shall be.
As for Big Breasts you're welcome to leave them for me m8.

Oh, and thanks for noticing the hard work on the breasts I do so hate supper inflated breasts (they just look weird). Besides that, from what I could tell from the screen shots, Hem's has large breasts... not supper large, ginormus, or emergency flotation devices for the crew and passengers of a small airline, and in CoH, I'm fairly certain large = fairly modest in all other worlds. Beyond that, when I think tiger, I think lean spring like muscle mass... not fat... unless anyone out there's seen a fat tiger, 'cause I never have. Since breasts is pretty much all fat, on a tiger girl, they'd be fairly trimmed down and lean like the rest of her.

Hems actually has the slider almost all down to minimum, she's not big breasted
the drawing is looking awesome so far!
OOOOO that's looking SO GOOD!!! The little badge is TOO CUTE!!! It's *almost* as good as Hems' avatar
And I think the skirt looks fine you weird uber super compulsive person!
*hands Graver the golf club in order to beat back Feral*
Graver,
Thanks for answering my hand/feet question so thoroughly. I think I may just start drawing bigger hands/feet.
About the latest pencil I love it but I have one peive. The sword she is wearing seems to be a katana . Katans are worn with the blade up (Europeen sword were worn with the blade down) Therefore the scabbard should be arcing the other way. Now it looks like as if the katana had been worn blade down.
Sorry I know I am being too picky it is the kendoka in me speaking.
Otherwise this is great love the idea itself and I am looking foward to see the background.

Really look forward to seeing it progress. Very cool!

Ok, Graver, you are my new role model! :P Your attention to detail is astounding, and the reasoning behind your art is making me rethink they way I draw. From now on, I'm going to eat my veggies and grow up strong and THINK about what I'm drawing so that maybe one day I can be on the same level as you. :}
Can't wait to see this finished!
Okay, another update is in order as the pencils are finished! Technically, they were finished last night but since the CoH board mods had apparently gotten wind that MMOArt was getting all updated which made them go and updated the boards in an attempt to one up Gill, I couldn't post the progress last night... silly mods. Either way, here's the...
HemilyTiger: Penciled
And Mist, I know the scabbard's still arching the wrong way... I didn't read that post until today, but it has been fixed. Thanks for pointing that out as I would have never known such a thing... ever. Though if I didn't know that, it does make me wonder if a tiger girl who still hasn't mastered reading would know that...
And Wombat, I is so honored I get to be your new role model! YAY! It's always good to think about what your doing. Asking your self "why?" is a very useful tool. Not only will it give you more power and control of your pieces, but knowing why you made something a certain way, or why you put x near y will help you trouble shoot and more quickly come up with solutions to problems you might be having. Also, asking your self "why" in regards to your ideas is also very beneficial as it will help you develop strengthen the idea through beneficial improvements, it will also help to avoid any accidental idea theft... which is very easy to do. Just a few days ago, I was discussing an up coming piece and getting all the information on what it should have and possible directions I should go with it. As the character was discussed as well as things that should possibly appear in the piece, a great idea for the look and layout of the painting suddenly came to me out of no where. I knew that idea would make a great looking work of art... and shortly after I found out that I was so certain that it would because it already had.
Either way, yes, go forth and THINK! But be careful of over thinking things. I don't know if Starchasm will be willing to slap you around as well when you start turning a simple sentence into the epic of Gilgamesh
Now, if you'll excuse me... *looks back toards his apartment door...* THE HORROR! *grabs the golf club and runs out screaming "Iä! Iä! Cthulhu Fhtagn!"*
good god, your work makes mine look like spit. Im so ashamed that i'll kill myself now *empales self with a katana*
that looks awesome Graver!
i can't wait to see how she'll turn out all colored and such too *drool*
Wow Wicky Wow! Amazing!
I like the butterflys its a strong piece even if you removed the central character and let it stand on the merits of a gnarled tree growing admidst a scene of carnage with butterflys fliting about .
I don't know why, but I have to say that twisted tree is probably my favorite part. It's the first thing my eyes are drawn to, and it's just a cool shape. I like how she's perched at the top too. This is looking good.

I agree with ya Lush that is where my eyes are drawn to right away as well!!
As a whole this is turning out very nicely Graver!! Can't wait to see the magic once the watercolor is applied!
The amount of detail you put into your pencil work is just incredible. Very, very cool.
Just a small update on the going of Hems... still got a lot of work but the lower left hand corner is finnaly getting in shape... just gotta get the rest of the painting there as well
Hems: Color01
Gotta stop before my eyes fall out. More tommarow

Sweeeeeeet...
it's looking amazing, i can't wait for the finished product!
Okay, time for an update here. I was truly wanting to have the pencils done by the end of tonight, but that just didn't happen. These past couple of days I've been feeling a bit under the weather as the heat has made me it's [censored] (it took the top and made me be the woman *sob*). Damned 105 heat index *shakes fist at the weather*
Okay, but I have managed to get Hem's all penciled in. No tree yet and no background. I will have all of that penciled in by the end of tomorrow night if not before.
Hems Pencil
And since that one is kinda small and hard to see the detail... here's a detail shot. As you could probably tell, it's going to be a very vertical piece.
And to Greymist, Pep pretty much summed up the hands and feet thing... or one reason. The hands are very important to communication in figurative art pieces... since there's no sound Thus, larger hands speak louder. Small and dainty hands would come off as very quiet and passive... and delicate. Larger hands convey utility -they look as if they can truly grasp things, hold things, manipulate things, hit things... in other words they are truly capable hands. Smaller ones come off as fragile and delicate (not really the domain of the supper hero ), if they hit something, they would break and would have a hard time really grasping something.
Feet are similar. Larger feet are stabilizing, they root the character, show that they have strong footing. They also convey a sense of utility. They have the feeling that they can carry the figure far and wide. Small feet give the idea that the character can easily be pushed over and would have a difficult time going very far on them. They are week and delicate (again, not the realm of the hero).
Beyond all that, it's just the way I draw . I like to make things good and solid and when I'm putting down my forms, I tend to go a bit overboard with the hand and it's fingers and what it's doing. I want it to stand out a bit from the arm, have the feeling that it can swivel about, etc... same with the feet. The end result is slightly larger then normal hands and feet, but then, maybe they should be. After all, after the face (and eyes) they are some of the most important parts to the human figure. They must be given their due.
Oh, and thanks for noticing the hard work on the breasts I do so hate supper inflated breasts (they just look weird).
