((Okay everyone, this is a new idea by me. I have been reading the old comics again and came up with an idea. Today, the powers go out. The focus of this is what happens to our heroes when the powers go out. Mutant and Natural heroes are exemp as long as the only use what they were born with. Feel free to do anything except:

1) Kill other peoples characters
2) God mode
3) Make your natural or mutant heroes gods heroes gods

I guess I'll start, jump in whenever you want.))

Coldfire was flying through Brickstown when he noticed something strange. The war walls were growing fuzzy, and on them runic symbols were covering the force fields. "What?!" Coldfire said as he felt a mystic aura fill the area. Then he saw it, the first thing to ever bring a chill down his spine. Below him, he saw a hero stabbed with the scythe of a freakshow enforcer. The hero looked down and saw the blood run down his chest and he coughed up a little blood. The Freak looked amazed at the fact he had just done what he had done. The hero slumped over and his body went limp. "NOOO!" Cold yelled as he flew down and fried the men. Coldfire ran to the hero and lifted him up and looked down at him. "Why...why didn't the mediporter...activate?" The hero said as he coughed up blood and went limp. He was dead. Coldfire realized then.

The unnatural powers were out. Their lifelines were cut. And if the heroes were to survive, their normal tactics had to change. Coldfire realized. His normal combat plans were scrapped, if he screwed up, if anyone screwed up, they were dead.

As Darkgun was just finishing up stopping a drug bust, he noticed that a few of teammates stopped doing anything usefull. He blasted the last enemy and said "Good job guys, lets get outta here." He jumped away. Soon he realised that he was the only one who had left, and he went back. He asked his fellow heroes what the holdup was. Most of the other heroes said that they couldn't fly, teleport jump or run fast. He said "This gives me a bad feeling. stay here and I can TP you to safety" When he reached Atlas park and tried to 'port them, there were only a few left alive. they said they were attacked, and their powers didnt work. The Only surviving ones were of Natural or mutant origin. Darkgun said "Now I really have a bad feeling about this."

((OOC: Im kinda new to this, hope i did OK.))

Experiment 2.0 was actually having fun now. After smashing in a few more of the Family, his dark armour protecting him from the hits of the super strength Underbosses, he felt... Odd.

Just as he was about to finish off a Capo Gunner, his spines suddenly retracted into his body, and his red, metallic armour shut down. It folded away, his PDA turning itself off. Only the dark armour remained, and his fighting skills.

Experiment, after staring dumbly at the Capo for a second, did a roundhouse kick, knocking down the Family Member. Then, as an Underboss attempted to hit him with a bone-crushing attack, his weak punch did not even get through the darkness.

"What the hell? What did you do, hero?!" shouted the Underboss.
"Hey, don't blame me," replied Experiment. "I did nothing. Something must be messed up. Oh, and before I forget..."

*Smash*.
------------------------

As Experiment walked through the streets, in his old make-shift uniform, he thought about what had happened, not noticing the strange form of the war walls.

darkgun decided to search the zones for heroes to help, because he still had his powers. He made it to brickstown, and saw that a hero named coldfire seemed to be allright. He jumped over to him and said hi. He then asked "you seem to be allright, Do you know what is happening? This is kinda freaking me out."

Reishi woke up with a start. Her room was suddenly very, VERY cold. Normally, her "inner fire", a technique that called upon certain mystical forces to do anything from protect her with a fiery aura to keep her room a crisp 65 degrees at all times. However, she felt her link...drop.
She couldn't call her flames anymore. Out of anger, she stomped on the floor.
And promptly fell seven stories through the floorboards. Luckily for her, some company had paid most of the tenants to move out some time ago so they could buy the building. Reishi, however, liked her room, and refused to move from her little apartment in King's Row.
Yep, her super strength still worked. She stepped out into the street and noticed heroes literally falling out of the sky.
"This could be bad," she said aloud.

"The powers..." Cold began looking at darkgun, "The powers are out." "What?" Darkgun responded dumbfounded. "Heroes aren't invicible anymore...and if we die, the mediport won't work." Coldfire Kaiser said pointing down at the fallen hero, "Only those with natural abilities are left unscathed, but now the risks are far greater than a medical bill." Coldfire looked up and into the city. Somewhere behind the war wall to independance port, and explosion occured. "What the hell?!" Darkgun said in shock. "Terra...Oh my god! There were heroes in Terra Volta's Reactor trying to protect it from an attack!" Coldfire yelled flying to the tram.

(( I have the same kind of thing. Experiment 2.0 has Dark Armour as a mutation, but his armour, devices, and spines are all from technology and science, hence, no spines, armour, or flight. Plus, he he can fight hand-to-hand, not very well, but enough to survive. ))

As the explosion went off, he felt his stomach drop. He could almost feel the pain of the heroes that died there.

He started running, trying desperately to use anything he learned to run faster, but it was useless. He was in Steel Canyon, he would need to run all the way to the Green Line then to Terra Volta gate. He could not help there, anyway... That is when he realized... He had become almost useless.

All he could do was make himself unhittable, and even that was not certain. Sure, he could fight, but that would not help with fighting flying Sky Raiders. And worse, because his metallic armour was gone, he would be hurt badly if he should get hit.

He needed some way to fix the War Walls, as he had noticed them a minute or so ago...

And if he trusted his instinct, runes meant Circle of Thorns.

But then, with this suit, and his lack of powers, Circle of Thorns meant death.

He needed help, but had no idea who to contact, as everywhere he turned, heroes were dying, falling from the sky, stopping dead, all sorts of things.

He was lost.

((Lord Reluse rubs his hands in a plotting fashion, "Good...good."))

Special Agent Langley was frustrated beyond words. The Malta had repeatedly assaulted his team's position, and with more and more Titans coming in for the ship carrying advanced tech that they were supposed to protect as it came closer to Independence Port, the situation looked grim.

"We're not giving up yet." he growled udner his white mask, still wearing the traditional red-and-white uniform from back in his Longbow days.

Deceiving the nearest Titan to attack its masters, he sent a spectral terror upon the the sight of which they would not soon forget.

But then something went horribly wrong. The war walls were too far out of sight for them to notice the runes on them, but the effect made itself felt. The first to go down was the fire tanker - and as his own illusions faded away, he found the defneder could no longer siphon the kinetic energy from their enemies. And for that matter, neither could he!

"Fall back!" he yealled, pulling out the sidearm he always carried with him. He'd alwayd be a Longbow Officer at heart, and he never left for heroing wihout at least onbe normal weapon that wouldn't be affected by sappers or the like, "Fall back! Fall back! Regroup at the brige!"

But before he could even first the first shot, the Malta Titans failed as well, slumping into energyless heaps of metal, the red glow in their visual scanners fading away...

"The hack is going on here?" Langley murmured, taking aim with his Glock 34. The clip was filled to the rim with AP rounds, and the Maltna's body armor stood no chance against the .45 semi-auto fire. He fired to wound, not to kill, and was rather surprised when the prison system's teleporters didn't take the defeated villains away - incidentally...his own team's fallen tanker had not been mediported. What the hell was going on here???

"Captain/" he said to the burly man as he entered the bridge, "I'm going to have ask you to stop immediately. Something's happened in Paragon, and I'll need your vessel as a temporary hospital. Do you have enough room below deck for the wounded Malta?"

The Captain nodded wordlessly, fully aware of the gravity of the situation. Now the nes report came onto the ship's TV - super powers were 'out' across Paragon. The teleportation systems, whether prison or hospital, had ceased to function.

"This is bad, isn't it?" he asked as he ordered his crew to conver the ship into a makeshift medical vessel. Luckily, part of the tech he had been transporting was intended for medical use.

"Very." Langley replied, showing no emotion. He had to keep cool now. The ship was secure now, no doubt about that. But the city was most likely in chaos.

Wordlessly, he walked about the ship now, scavenging what he could from the Malta. Their weapons still worked, and with a few twists of a screwdriver, he had built himself a rifle-sapper-rocket launcher weapon by combining the weapons of the operatives and Titans.

"I'll need a ride." he said to the Captain, "I can't fly or anything, and even if I could, it wouldn't be of much use now."

"I'll see what I can do."

Minutes later, a fishing vessel arrived to take the ex-controller away. He asked for the radio and promptyl got complete control over it. He recorded a transmission.

"To all heroes who can hear this, this is a warning. As you may know, meta-human powers have gone down throughout the city. I will be setting up a preliminary command post in warehouse 17 in Independence Port. All heroes who receive this, please proceed to this location right away. We have a hospital ship anchored offshore and arew able to dispense medical aid. Again, that is warehouse 17 in Independence Port."

He turned to the skipper of the fishing vessel as they arrived at the pier, "Play this over and over again, and forward it to the news as well. Tell them to make as much as they can of it."

"I'll do what I can. By the way...did you hear?"

"Something more?"

"I'm afraid so. Terra Volta just went up in flames..."

As Coldfire entered Independance Port, he saw something he never thought to see. The island at which Terra Volta was, was gone.
"No..." Coldfire said to himself.
"My god." Darkgun said as multiple explosions began destroying the bridge.
About this time Coldfire heard a beeping on his PDA. Becky had sent him a message, 'There is a warehouse in Independance Port working as a medical area, I'm helping as best I can in Dark Astoria. Carlos and his men are busy in the Hollows. Coldfire...be careful.'

"We have to look for surviving heroes, Perez Park may be a good place to start, the gangs and proteans still have their abilities." Cold said to Darkgun.
"Right." He responded.

((Much better ))

"Get that carte over there! Move it! Move it! Move it!"

Langley was pleased. Things were progressing fast. He had rounded up several of the dock workers and private shipowners, and now had a supply line running from ship to shore, consisting mostly of wounded heroes that had started trickling in since he had sent out the first transmission.

Ambulances had come from the hospital here, the medical staff transferred out since their equipment no longer worked. it seemed the ship was just far enough offshore to be unaffected by the medical shutdown. The doctors could most likely save the life of any hero that managed to get on board.

"Get him on that boat, NOW!" a man in a white coat shouted as his assistants loaded a bloddy figure on a stretcher onto a motor yacht that the owner had lent to the cause. With a loud rumble, the engine revved up and the boat plwed away toward the ship.

But something bothered him - so far, no hero had made it here on their own two feet. And that was bad. Really bad. The citizens had taken up the slack, often carrying their fallen heroes here themselves, but Langley was very uneasy about this. It was as if someone was targeting the now powerless heroes.

"Sir, the vehicle you requested is ready." a mechanic he had recruited reported, "Are you sure you want to do this? Perez Park is likely more dnagerous than ever now."

"That's exactly why." Langley said, climbing into the cab of the modified 18-wheeler, "There are heroes out there that need rescuing now. And from what I can tell, I'm the only one in a position to do so."

The cab door slammed shut, and the airbrakes hissed. With a mighty roar, the truck rolled away...

After pacing around for about 3 minutes, trying to think of some way to gather heroes for a Circle of Thorns assault, intent on thinking that it was them, he got a signal on his Broadcast Transmission Piece. It appeared that still worked.

"Damn, I am hurt badly, dude." said a hero over the Broadcast.
"How badly?" replied another.

It appeared that they were in mid-conversation.

"I am bleeding. I never bleed. And the Medi-port thing isn't working."

This was bad. It appeared the Medicoms were not working, meaning that everything was going out. It was probably only a matter of time before the batteries in the earpiece ran out, so he had to broadcast something.

Before he could, however, another broadcast came over the others. It talked of a Warehouse in Independance Port where heroes were able to be helped.

"Hey, hero, did you get that broadcast?" asked Experiment 2.0.
"Yeah, seems helpful. Luckily, I took the Stamina pool."

Experiment had no idea what he was talking about, but decided to forget it. It was more important to find help. And Perez Park, what with the amount of CoT and other villain groups which may still have abilities the heroes do not.

He quickly found his car in the parking lot of the Paragon City Times building he worked at, and drove to the Perez gate as quickly as possible.

As soon as he got there, he flicked out his card to get in...

And saw the guards were dead.

"What... What the hell happened?! Weren't the Police Drones protect.... ing..."

Then it hit him.

The Police Drones must have shut down too.

This was bad.

((Ooh! Ooh! I wanna be evil!))

"This will not do."

"Indeed it will not."

Somewhere in the labyrinth halls of a massive Council-owned Island Fortress, many figures were gathered.

Figures of evil.

Flanked by Commander Firenze and Commander Reikoff of the Malta, Colonel Duray of the Skyraiders, Vandal of the Council, Frostfire of the Outcasts, Marrow Snap and Marrow Drinker of the Skulls, Duke Mogrodar and 3K Kelvion of the Hellions, Nemesis stands at the head of the table now being used as a temporary villain group war room.

"I don't like your tone!" Whirs a Clockwork to a MasterMind's robot before quickly being silenced by Babbage.

"What course of action do you plan to take?" Inquires Nemesis to Floyd of the Lost.

"We don't know. None of our Rikti tech is working."

A clockwork experimentally tries to flick up some lightning, but to no avail.

"My powers are out!" Roars a Torch of the Outcasts, "I can't even warm my damn coffee!" Which gets some laughter from a Crey Powersuit Guard.

"Silence!"

All of the villains look up to see The Center standing above them on a series of steps.

"We need a true plan."

---

Heroes throughout Paragon suddenly begin to see less villains. Boats are highjacked, cars are stolen, and entire gangs flee the city.

As a group of Trolls mixed with Family rush by him without even looking back, special agent Langley was left speechless.

((If this is too much, I'll relenquish some control. But I'd think the villain groups would be doing something too.))

Langley was scared - and he hadn't been scared of anything in a long time. But when the villains fled, something was up.

Rats leaving the sinking ship. This is really, REALLY bad.

As he drove the semi to the Perez Park gate, he saw what he had expected - the guards were dead, the police drones shut down. He just hoped there was someone still alive as he squeezed the massive truck through the half-open gate.

Normally he'd never enter this area with a vehicle. But this wasn't normal. Desperate times called for desperate measures. He had enough medical equipment in the trailer to at least tie over about 50 heroes until he got back to the warehouse.

As the truck rolled through the gate on the other side, he saw what he had expected - but not where he had expected. Right in front of him was a Protean!

He rammed the clutch, popping the truck into 1st, ready to run the creature down. Susrprisingly, as the engine roared, it did nothing. It simply ignored the truck and went on its way.

Langley remembered that the Rikti controlled the Hydra in the sewers, and that these spawn were nothing but extensions of its 'body'. If the Rikti had lost their power, did this mean that the other villains had as well?

It had to - the fleeing gangs were more than a clear sign.

"Even field." he commented coldly as he shifted, rolling his massive medivac into the former hazard zone...

Lord Apollon smirks as he watches the ships arriving at his favorite hangout, Striga Island. His composite bow strapped to his back, he did not even notice the loss of powers from other heroes. His abilities came through rigerous training, not through magical nor technological enhancements. Looking through his binoculars, the new faces on the island draw his interest the most.

"Looks like a party... and they forgot to send me an invitation. Oh well, once a crasher, always a crasher."

Closing his eyes, Richard Smith, known to the world as Lord Apollon, focused his Chi energy, and using the ancient techniques he learned from his Sensei, he began superheating the air around him, gently lifting his body off of the ground. His eyes fixed on target, he began to fly toards the smallest boat pulling into the dock, crewed by a squad of Trolls. The trolls did not even look up as he floated above them, drawing a steel tipped arrow, notching it, then using his inner focus and aiming carefully, Apollon let the arrow loose.

*thunk* a Supa Troll barely felt the arrow sink in... but did feel the life leaving his body as his compatriots began drawing their guns. Nor did he feel anything then 20 more arrows landed around him, making the topof his boat, and his companions, look like a very large hedgehog.

After a long fight, which would normally end quickly if he had his powers, Experiment 2.0 felt exhausted. Those big blobs of slime that are the Hydra are very hard to fight hand-to-hand, Experiment had discovered. The hits just kind of get absorbed by their jello-like forms.

After resting for a while on the roof of a building... After climbing a fire escape... After running from some petty thugs... He spied a truck moving slowly through the area.

This struck the hero as... Odd, to say the least.

Not only was it normally annoyingly tedious to get a vehicle in here, it was a very bad idea, what with the creatures.

However, it seemed the creatures WERE less aggresive. They hardly put up a fight when Experiment had a go.

He decided to follow the truck, to see what was going on. He jumped from the roof, into flying position... Then slammed through a newspaper dispenser, right into the cement.

If it weren't for his training, that would have broken his arms, seeing as he almost landed square on them.

It did not stop them, however, from hurting like hell.

He got up, running to the corner of a building, trying to make sure he was out of sight as he followed the truck.

When darkgun and Coldfire arrived at Perez Park, an earth mage ran up to them. Darkgun shot a fireball at him and instead of surviving and retaliating, the mage fell to the ground a charred body. "Good, they dont have their powers either. Now lets go find some of the heroes lost in the woods without their powers." said darkgun
"Lead on" said Coldfire

Langley didn't have to drive far until he found what he was looking for - a Circle Thorn Wielder repeatedly stabbing someone in blue-and-yellow tights as he lay on the ground.

"Not today, pal." Langley grunted, hitting the brakes. Even as he did so, he made ready his improvised weapon.

As the hiss from the truck's airbrakes distracted the swordsman, Langley was already on the ground, taking aim.

"Eat this!" he shouted, squeezing the trigger, the weapon set on sniper mode. The shell closed the distance in a fraction of a second, taking the villain's head clean off before he even heard the loud "CRACK!!!" of the gunshot.

The attacker dispatched, Langley rushed to the fallen hero. Blood was all over the guy, and he was barely a teen. Probably a new guy wanting to do some heroing for whatever reason. Langley winced as he thought of how many new heroes this could have haeppened to - wrong place at the wrong time.

He was surprised to find the hero still alive. Coughing up blood was the first and only sign of this.

"Hang on, kid." he said, sliding his rifle onto his back and picking up the teen in his arms, "I'll get you out of here."

Agent Langley is interrupted as a set of doors near him burst open, a Gardvord and three Trollkin literally tripping over the man.

The Gardvord and two Trollkin get up and scramble on, but the other Troll seems to have somehow wounded himself.

Agent Langley looked on. The troll had hit it's head and chest on rocks, but for a 'dyner, that would be like getting hit with a piece of cardboard. What was wrong with them?

Smack in the middle of Perez, Demon Outlaw was in for what he thought would be an unpleasant trip to the hosptal via a purple Death Mage standing in front of him. The Mutant Tank had been isolated in Perez and had no idea of the Poweoutage. Staring down the Mage, War Mace in hand he readied himself for a beating. Yet as the Mage closed in he noticed something peculiar. It's aura was non-existant and he was walking instead of floating

"Is this some kind of trick?" Demon thought to himself.

The Mage pointed his hands at Demon and...nothing. Demon saw the confused expression in the Mage's face and swung his mace with all his might, sinking the spikes into the Death Mage's chest, and dropping him to the ground instantly. Horrified by what had happend Demon Outlaw dropped his war mace and stubbled backwards. The Mage now lay on the ground infront of Demon, his ribcage shattered and gasping for air.
Demon Outlaw stood for a second, puzzled at what had happened.

"This Mage should have fried me" he said outloud, though nobody was around to listen.

After regaining his composure, Demon leaned down to pick up his mace and heard footsteps behind him. Turning around, with his mace drawn back ready to unload on whatever poor felon was trying to sneak up on him, Demon saw Darkgun and Coldfire, two fellow heroes he recognized from local news.

"I just killed a Purple Death Mage with one swing" he said slowly. "Someone tell me what the hell is going on."

I'm reminded of Socrates when he said, "I drank what?"
