I'ma necro this, as this is one of the most helpful posts I've seen on the forum since coming back. Thank Google I was able to search this up! I see the OP hasn't posted in a couple months. I'll PM him. Does anyone know of other projects like this one that are still active?

I really do want to finish this so this project is never going to die until I complete them all.
...thanks everyone for your limitless patience.
Sorry, I usually try to stay gender-neutral. Thanks for all your hard work!
Not sure how I missed that.
Let's get to the -real- problem for us colorblind folk - color coding mobs and items! CoH isn't as bad as some others, but I can't tell you how many times I've brazenly charged into a pack of baddies and wondered why these "blue" conning mobs were hitting me so hard - oh wait, they're purple. Not to mention putting up that "blue" sword on the auction house for 5 gold when it was really a purple worth 50. Curse video games and their color-coding, discriminatory practices. Seriously though, helpful post, thanks.

As for the mobs... don't pay attention to the color code. Just pay attention to their level and know that GMs are always Purple.
I personally have the most trouble buying enhancements. By right clicking on an item and looking at the info you can see what it enhances but if I went by color alone... well most of them are either yellow, purple, black, or grey to me. The only enhancement I can clearly see are Damage because nothing else looks red to me except red. Another thing that may or may not help with this is that enhancements are always listed in the same order so if you can memorize where the placement is of any given enhancement then you can find it no matter what the name or color is. For example Accuracy enhancements are always listed first so I never get them confused with Healing enhancements. (Both Accuracy and Heal are yellow to me.)
Wait, Accuracy and Heal aren't Yellow to everyone? CRAP! Heal is supposed to be Green isn't it?
I memorized the order of Enhancements when I first played, and I always take extra time when buying one to make sure it's the right one. It is a hassle, though. Mobs and items don't bother me in this game, as the mobs have arrows by their names (might be an option you need to set) when you target them, and the items are all very distinct.

Oh and the only time I buy the wrong enhancements is when I forget what my origin is. I always end up going to the Magic store even on the rare occasions that I'm not a Magic character.
Heh, my first character was Magic, and to this day Magic/Mutant DOs are the only ones I can remember reliably.

I plan to do the same thing with Dual Pistols/Traps (I hate that secondary but it seems to be the only thing that all 4 Archetypes can get.) I already made my Thug/Traps Mastermind. Not nearly as fun to play as Thug/Poison but hey, I'll take the excuse to make another Mastermind. (Blaster will be Dual Wield/Devices of course but it's basically the same as Traps though a little better I think.)
Can anyone point me towards and "Emerald" color on the costume and bright charts?

H5 or H4 are a good choice, but keep in mind I'm looking at it through my own monitor. You could also go for the more green row which is G. Row H has a bit more blue to it than G, with bright you could always mix a selection of G and H to get a nice emerald look.
Thanks again! Tried out your suggestion, and it's being described to me as "definitely a green stone, perhaps a bit more Jade than Emerald" which is just perfect for my purposes.
Oh, and I thought you'd like to know, the RP SG I joined that started with GR is using your charts as a general reference to establish uniforms and such for the military and diplomats. These are definitely the most useful resource I've found on costume making =D
I don't like bring up old threads, but thanks! While I'm not color blind, I can't tell the difference between the various shades. I really hate how so many games don't provide support in the character creation areas for us that have color trouble. I usually stick with just blacks and whites and greys because of it, but that gets bland and boring after a while, so thank you for this.

At very least I'll update the color picker image to the current one in game.
Time to kick myself in the butt and get it done...
I have time in July to work on the remaining palettes. Please stay tuned as I want to get this completed by the end of July. It's been years and everyone's been super awesome about it, but enough is enough
Look forward to Dark, Cold, Earth/Lava set of name charts by July 31st at the latest.
Thank you all!
Enjoy the game,
@Alty
My grandfather on my moms side was color blind. Skipped all of his kids as far as I know even though I have 2 uncles on that side of the family but the gene ended up being passed to me.
Even odder is that most of the female characters in game are male players so I think it's SUPER rare to find a female color blind person on this game. The last SG I was in had about 7 members who were really women and tripple that number were guys with female characters.
I'm actully kinda currious now how many color blind men we have compaired to women and what your color blind type is if you know it. http://www.vischeck.com/vischeck/vischeckImage.php shows 3 different types of color blindness and seems to be the most accurate color blind simulator for anyone who isn't color blind interested to see what the world looks like from our point of view. I think it's impossible to get 100% accuracy without removeing your cones to see what it looks like naturally but that would be a bit dangerous. (by cones I mean the little sensors in the back of your eyes that send the signal to your brain and allow you to see color. Color Blind people are missing some of these sensors naturally which is why we can't distiguish between sertain colors.)
I'm not too sure what I am sence I was never profesinally diagnosed but judgeing from Vischeck I belive I am Protanope.
