Just wondering, is there a version of this great named-type chart, for the Skin Tones?

Well this is probably the most helpful item I've seen someone do for others that play. You should have them sticky it or send in a request to have the names added to the color selection menu and appear when you move the mouse over them.

Just out of curiosity, those of you that are color blind, how have you been picking the colors anyway?

I really have to buckle down and make the Skin Tones list Soon(tm). It's been on my mental to-do list for a long time. Now if I can figure out just what name the skin tones I'd be all set.

So, how's the skin tone list coming?

Don't forget that part of the skin tone list (bottom 3 rows, but arranged vertically iirc) are actually colors from the main color chart.

Bah! not fully in progress, push back on the to-do list. Due to an RL move. (anyone want to help me pack a box?)

As for the skin tones in colors, the bottom 3 rows are actually not exactly the same as the main 160 colors. Only the row for black gray and white are the same.

The green in the skin tone and the green in the 160 main chart do not match. There is a shading difference. As I recall.

Sure!

Huh, didn't know that. Cool. Learned my new thing for the day.

Now hurry up and move!

Awesome job, I'm partly Color Blind, i also can't tell the difference between Blues/Purples Red/Oranges Greens/Yellows/Browns.

Now i can look at this chart instead of getting my mother to tell me if my costume is alright.

I always get a kick out of knowing this chart is still a big help.

Glad to know its still working after all these years.

I know this was an old post, but I just read it. Thought of answering the "how do you do it?" question. I mainly have primary color costumes or stay in the same row. I have a lot of black/grey/white costumes. I can usually figure out blues (occasionally, I get purple accidents and have to make a quick trip to the tailor to fix it), reds, yellows. Lots of "Hey, what color is my costume?" while standing around the tailor shop. Green/brown or yellow/brown are my most frequent mistakes.
And, my nemesis is accidentally green skin.

This thread has quite a few broken links. And if anyone is up to it, a named-color chart for skin color is still needed.

Thanks to all those who contributed, especially Altoholic_Monkey!

The first post has the current link to the chart:

If a new thread needs to be made, let me know and I'll go ahead and do it. I probably should start that skin color one its been on my to do list for a while. I think I'll add that to my 2009 resolutions. I hate that its incomplete. I've finally found a naming convention for skin tones at least. I just have to get focused and complete it.

This is really helpful, especially since I really am colorblind. And I want to point out that colorblinds don't miss colors, at least I don't, just each color is part of a different spectrum. Brown is darker green, red is very similar to red, blue and purple are barely different. I remember in second grade, I said I was colorblind, and countless children scream at me, "What color is this?" pointing to something out of view. I finally realized how to make that stop. "What color is my hair," they say. "Green," I answer. Noone really wanted to hear that their hair was green.

I'm always pleased to hear that the chart is still helping people! It makes those long nights searching for color names worth it.

Oh and welcome to the game!

Also if those who are color blind have any suggestions on improving the chart, please send me a PM.

Original post updated with links to new/revised palettes. Will continue to be updated as I work on naming the new palettes for powers customization.

Skin Color Palette finally completed

Just wanted to say thanks for posting these named palettes. I've been playing for years and I never create a character without referring to them and I'm thrilled to hear that you are planning on doing them for power customization too. It's really appreciated.

This! Please

In fact let me quote myself from the post I made on paragonwiki about this....

"Hey...for those of us that are "color challenged" is there someone out there that can see the full color spectrum who is able to take the color palates from http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/File:Colorchartall0sz.jpg and match them up to the bright and the dark color palate for the power customization screen? I'm not completely color blind, and I can tell that there is an obvious difference between the costume color chart, and the bright/dark color chart.

It would help if that person could assign the same grid number/coordinate that's on the costume chart for each color to the charts for the dark/bright power colors. That way those of us that are colortarded can look and say "oh I have color N5 selected as my pants color, so if my imps are also color N5 they will match".

I realize that instead of having a MSExcel like grid whomever does this will have to actually plug the letter and the number into each color circle, but I think since the palates are so different from the main, it would make the most sense.

The other option would to just use the same EXACT NAMES as are used on the main palate...though this would make it a little more difficult for the color challenged. (But still better than nothing!) Does this make sense? -detfrost1"

I will be posting the named Bright Palette later on this week and working hard on the other remaining palettes.

I apologize for those waiting patiently for the other palettes. It's my goal to finish up the rest of the colors without a large gap of time in between. When Bright is posted I will be working on Dark.

Thanks again everyone for waiting.

Unfortunately, only a small number of colors on the Standard Costume chart are the same as the ones on the Power Customization charts. Also, the powers customization chart has a few extra color rows on it that aren't on Standard Palette. Overall though Dark and Bright Palettes follow the same order of colors as the Standard chart.

I'll check out what you posted on Paragon Wiki as well.

I've completed the naming of the Bright Palette for the Powers Customization charts. I'll be working on the Dark next followed by Cold then Earth/Lava.
Thanks again for your patience I know many have been waiting a while.

The OP has been updated. The Standard chart was revised as of 2010. Please update your files.

Thank you so much for all the hard work you have already done and are continuing to do. You have made MY life so much easier. You can well imagine how difficult it is for a colour-blind woman to be unable to match clothing and accessories--I was afeared I would be kicked out by the sisterhood...LOL. I no longer have to ask my SG leader to run to the tailor with me so that he can sit there and count columns and rows to tell me which bubble I want. Thanks again. Blessings.
