'Energy Transfer' is amazing. As I imagined...

I hit 26 this morning and learned Energy Transfer.

(a)The attack hits incredibly hard. Unenhanced it does nearly double damage as Bonesmasher (with 3SO damage enhancements).

In pve, my damage has increased significantly. I can quickly take 3-4 monster size groups now using placate/as/buildup/et.

In pvp, [once slotted] I imagine I will be using this attack with buildup as an opener opposed to AS most of the time, then follow up with placate/as. As ET's damage w/ buildup is slightly lower then a non-buildup AS, with a very short activation time - and no interrupt.

(b) I did not have the power before todays patch, so I don't know how the health drain was before. As is, the health drain seems almost trivial. The boosted damage output from this attack shortens fights more then enough to make up for the health loss (compared to the health I would take by scrapping longer).

---------------------------------------------------------
(1)Are most of you double recharge slotting this, orr 1xrecharge & 1xEndo?
I'm leaning towards 2xrecharge.

(2)With the reduced health drain added to this power, is it too good? Is it balanced with other Stalker primaries?

Based on what a stalker is supposed to do (Stalking ), it seems like this is a very huge advantage in a stalkers primary role compared to other primaries.

--Should I be worried about a Stalker only damage reduction on this power? Especially with the minimal health drain on it.

I got this power the other day and it really is amazing. I plan on slotting mine 1acc 3dam 2recharge, all my other attacks are 2acc 3dam 1recharge. When it's slotted with SO's you will be able to 1 shot yellow minions. Groups of 4 are insanely easy now, lead off with AS, then 1 shot the next using ET then scrap the 3rd and by the time you're ready for the 4th placate and hit it with another AS.

As for it being too good, I think a tradeoff with ET is you cant crit with it, dont know if it's suppose to be that way to counteract it's incredible damage or if it's a bug. I would assume it's suppose to be that way because if you could crit Energy Transfer that would basically be like a 2nd uninterruptable AS.

No you can't crit ET, if you pull it off while Hidden, there's no health loss to you.

I changed ET a while back so it drains ~12% of your HP. Before the fix, it was draining ~21%. Comparison, Brutes lose ~11% and Tanks loose ~9%.

Only 11% HP for a brute? Woo hoo! =^_^=

At first I didn't like Energy Transfer. The HP loss wasn't crippling, but it could be living on the edge depending when you used it - IE bank vault missions.

Now that I have it slotted some and the hp loss has been reduced (btw, that has helped a lot.. 130 health a few levels ago now down to 96 health at level 33) I use Energy Transfer regularly.

Even if you BU before AS, you can get off ET then TF and usually a Bonesmasher before it's gone. That's easily 3 mobs killed in less than 10 secs.

ET is also nice for PvP. AS is 4 seconds w/ interrupt and TF is 3 seconds. BU -> ET ->. Placate -> AS is a decent combo. Or replace the AS depending on whether you'll be able to get it off or not.

Energy Transfer has become a main part of my attack scheme. Even though at first I hated it, lol - I even took it off my bar for a while.

Ohh hell yeah it rocks, with a build-up + AS + ET combo, I've been known to two shot red bosses (and three to four shot purples at times), and that's with DO's not SO's. Add Total Focus to this combo and you'll quick kill damn near anything short of an elite or AV/Hero/Monster that crosses your path. Slot SO's on top of that and, well, not much lives long in your presence.

With BU+AS+ET I've been known to 2 shot Blasters, Defenders, Controllers, and SR Scrappers

So energy transfer wont crit, even if you are stealthed? Is there any other stalker atks that work like this?
Thats kinda like ET not workin with fury, doesnt make much sense to me.

I think it's balanced overall. ET is powerful on its own; giving it critical capability would probably be overboard.

You one-shot defenders and controllers, and brawl will damn near kill a blaster after AS. However, you're spot on about Scrappers. And it's not only SR Scrappers that this works on. I've been able to two-shot ALL scrappers with AS/ET.

Doesn't work on invuls or regens using dull pain, but it's just a matter of knowing what the base scrapper HP is in your PvP zone and mousing over their red bar before you attack to make sure they don't have it active.

ET will not get a crit bonus from stealth. (instead the HP reduction is removed)

TF gets a partial bonus (bringing it to ET lvl damage)

Cones/AoEs have Various % chance of critting, (generaly around 50%)
