Rumor Control: Stores aren't going anywhere

A huge isse with enhancements for me is that ever since I2 (and this has been re-enforced a couple times) I worry about the game's difficulty being designed for players who get SOs at 22 and, therefore, to be able to stay in the game I have to be able to get SOs at 22... so none of my alts use TOs at all, hoarding that influence for level 22.

[/ QUOTE ]

Just commenting - at level 5, you have seven powers (sprint, rest, brawl, 2xlevel 1, 1xlevel 2, 1xlevel 4) and 11 slots (seven powers + 2xlevel 3 and 2x level 5). TOs in every slot will cost approximately 5500 total, and probably less.

At level eleven, you, have 8 powers and 20 slots, meaning you'll pay approximately another 10k to slot those out. So figure you're paying 15k for every TO you'll ever use.

Now compare that to the price of DOs - if you don't spend that, you'll be able to buy two or three more DOs at level 12. It's not even the price of a single SO.

Really, not buying at least a few TOs is just silly. It barely saves you a pittance.

I would really like to see a tweak to the enhancements. Like adding secondary effects. For instances, you can only buy TO, DO, SOs but in TF and story arc you can get enhancements that might increase fire damage or an enhance that increases your -recharge powers. Make these enhancements have global affect of your powers, not just the power you slot them into. So you could have, for instance, an ACC enhance with a +1% to all fire damage powers, etc.

Not true, I often slot enhancements I have gotten from a drop. I would rather run lots of missions and spend time playing the game than shopping and making sure my enh are always green. I also give away SO's to people on my team who are the same origin all the time .

[/ QUOTE ]

Ditto that 100%.

I try to encourage my teammates to trade enhancements. With my actual friends, it usually isn't an issue (unless we have heavily mixed origins). Pickup teams are usually a bit more difficult, but if they're decent players, they usually get the hint after they get a few useful SOs thrown their way.

Statesman, if there is (ultimately) a change to the current store system, then at least make the store contacts like the ones in FF & Bricks. Let us do one or two missions to unlock the store option, but then that's it for the misisons they can offer. If you wanted to get really wacky, how about giving us contacts that just give us missions? No buy/sell options, just missions.

Heck, maybe you could throw in some vendors that sell inspirations only, but have better than level 1 inspirations (if there are contacts any that do sell better inspirations, I haven't found them yet.)?

Oh, and for what its worth, the Freedom Corps "training centers" make perfect sense. Don't ever get rid of them.

But please, please, please States, let us go back and unlock contacts whose missions we've outleveled because we didn't know any better. Locking yourself out of Origin-related contacts really hurts new players and ones that don't troll the forums, fan sites, and so on looking for every morsel of info so they can plan out their path to level 50...

Oh, and maybe we could make the origin contacts a little more obvious? I mean, I never would have guessed Penny Preston was the mutant origin store if I hadn't gone to the fan sites I mentioned. :-/ The Genie, on the other hand... Kind of obvious once I found her.

True to a point... I use dropped enhancments for stacking usually. I only buy at the breakpoints and/or when an enhancement goes red.

In my 10+ months of playing, I've never had an enhancement go red. Mind you, I was in an SG from day one due to my brother having played since launch. I've never needed money, and anyone I've run with didn't need it either.

Now that I've got my own filthy rich 50, all my alts get full sets at at all break points. 2:7:12:17:22:27:32:37:42:47

Wow... that's a lotta influence I burn through. Oddly, my 47 PB is richer than my 50 Scrap now. Guess I should start raiding his piggy bank.

Be well, people of CoH.

I did say one other thing - that dropped Enhancements are useful only for what you can sell them for - because everyone purchases their Enhancements at the store (or at least most of them).

[/ QUOTE ]

I hope thats not an excuse to not fix the drop rate because it currently is aweful. Lvl 40 and my foes still drop training enhances? come on! this aspect of the game could use work. Oh but wait that would make the game more fun and take away from nerf work.

To expound and add my thoughts to a post above, how about having contacts expressly state what their Origin is? And definitely have this info shown whenever you get offered a choice of contacts. That way you *know* which Origin lines you're operating on and opening up and can make sure you don't accidentally screw yourself out of contacts in your Origin because you weren't sure of the true Origin of a contact. This would actually improve contacts as players will be better informed of which contacts they need to be sure to 'groom' so they can get access to DOs and SOs the storefronts don't sell and are of a type they can use. It can be very frustrating to get a contact you *think* is of your Origin and work hard on their missions to open their store and then find they aren't of the Origin you thought they were.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination.

When my new contacts are being introduced to me, the current contact says whether they have invention, generic, etc.

If a contact has 'access' to Focusing Devices (magic/mutant) and Genetic Alteration (mutant/science) I would assume that the contact is a Mutant supplier.

Sometimes, I impress my boss. Sometimes, I impress myself. The rest of the time, I scare people. I can live with that.

That information is only given once, and you have to guess if you don't memorize them.

To add my voice to what many others are saying here:

If you want people to actually use dropped Enhancements, change how they drop so they're actually useful. Right now, it's somewhere between "a little extra Inf, but only if you stop your heroing to go sell" and "insulting."

You know, if they WANTED to phase such a system in, the easy way to do it would be to switch the prices between what a STORE charges and what your CONTACT charges. It's always nice that my contact sells ALL the SOs I need, but why bother with them when I can get them for what, 30 percent less at a regular store?

[/ QUOTE ]

Seconded! That would also reward a player for doing mission content (which I seem to recall is something you are looking for)
