Superbases only through COV? Hmmm

You will get SG bases without CoV. Just wont be able to participate in raids. Quite a generous offer from the Devs in my opinion.

Thats changed then, I thought the only way you would be able to build a base was if you owned CoV...
'If Champions Online is what "CoH was supposed to be", I'm glad that I have what I have rather than "what it was supposed to be".' - The Alt oholic
"I solo'd Hamidon...but I also totally cheated." - Back Alley Brawler
"It is still early. Someone is going to get stabbed tonight I can feel it." - Ishmael (said in Jello Shooters chat)
Bwahaha... always love it when I see a Clintonian-smackdown post... because usually it includes "you need to read more" somewhere in there... awesome.

What I do know is, I wont be buying CoV just to play Anti-hero characters.

but will you be buying CoV to fight them ? (in zone wars, or in raids)
or will you be buying it to start a evil character who turns good ?
or maybe you might buy it for the new graphics and physical effects it upgrades with, instead of having to wait for coh to implement the upgrades.

But to be honest im not really worried, though ive seen the devs make plenty of errors in judgement i dont think theyd make one this freakin huge.

Although I agree with a lot of the things you stated but I feel your anger is miss directed at the Devs. The Devs just program the game. The do not make bussiness decisions. Things like do we have to buy CoV to get the bases, and do we need 2 plaync accounts to play CoH and CoV are *business* decisions not *game developement* decisions. They may or may not feel the same way you do but regardless, it's not their decision to make.
And btw, I really like your idea about Malta raid. That's something the Devs should consider if they haven't.
Bearing in mind that things are always subject to change, the CoV site says the following:
So youre saying that there will be lairs and bases?
Yes, in City of Villains all villain characters will be able to create custom designed lairs and bases with an extremely high amount of detail, rivaling that of the character creation for which City of Heroes is well known. The base-building feature from City of Villains will also carry over to City of Heroes members who have active COH subscriptions, enabling them to also construct hero bases.
Is this just an expansion to City of Heroes?
City of Villains is a stand-alone title, not an expansion. It may be played without City of Heroes, but there are clear advantages to owning and playing both. If a player only has City of Villains, he/she may only play a villain, not a hero. Also, if players want to build a base for their Hero characters and take part in PvP adventures (outside of the Arenas) theyll need to get City of Villains.
According to those answers it sounds like you'll need CoV to build a hero base in CoH, even if you don't want to play a villain. It doesn't mention anything about having to level a villain up to be able to build a hero base.
I imagine it's just going to unlock that feature in CoH once you install CoV, and bases get patched in. (I don't think they will be in at launch). There will probably be requirements, like your hero having to be a certain level, and/or needing a certain amount of influence, but I can't imagine why you'd need to play a villain to get a hero base.
Like the original poster and others here, I don't like playing evil or lawbreaking characters in games. I wont be buying CoV unless it enhances my CoH playing experience.
Not sure why the Developers seem to want to split the CoH community with the advent of a "evil" based game that has more to offer than the original "hero" based one.
But then again, what do I know?
What I do know is, I wont be buying CoV just to play Anti-hero characters.
