Phrase it as tenatively as you like. But I'm just wondering if #3 is expected, say, 'hopefully by Christmas', or something.

"When it's done"

(Hey, there had to be at least one of these responses, right? )

This company doesn't give themselves deadlines for Updates, except to release them on a roughly quarterly basis. The last update was 9/16/04. Do the math and factor in holidays.

Clintonian is onto something here; the updates have (thus far) been every three months or so. That'd put #3 on the live servers around the middle of december.

Which is just in time to build a little more hype before the Christmas shopping season has fully swung down (hell, depending on the person you're talking to, it's near the height of said season).

Seems like a perfect time to me. DVD edition out in the middle of this month to get it back on shelves, and the third issue with new stuff to draw back old players and bring in new ones a month later.

yeah my guess was sometime in dec. hopefully

Agreed, if you look at it, middle of december makes fo rthe xmas rush, then possibly march for the rest of the epics to tide us over till COV in may/june.

That's all just supposition on my part though.

Are you assuming CoV being released in May/June? Many people are assuming CoV beta in May/June...

It's been my experience that game companies take the month of Decemeber off with updates. Too many vactions and the like. If I had to make a guess I'd say it would be dropping next week. But that's purely hypothetical.

"It's coming tomorrow at 4:28pm EST! I promise!"

Posted

I'm thinking It'll hit test around the end of this month.

Posted

The dev's aren't going to drop Update 3 on without it going through the Test Server. They didn't even do the Halloween event without it passing through the Test Server.

It's tentatively scheduled for sometime between tomorrow and the heat death of the Universe. Plan accordingly.

It's actually a really bad idea for a company to give release dates for updates. You should've seen what happened to Blizzard when they were making their biggest (1.10) patches for Diablo 2 and Warcraft III. Everytime they gave a date for something and were off by a little, the people on the forums went nuts on them.

A vague one...

And probably the best we're gonna get for now.

If Cryptic keeps to their 2/3 month schedule, we should see Issue 3 on test within 2 weeks, and probably released (pending any major bugs, hopefully) in mid December.

Extreme exaggeration. It is almost certainly scheduled for testing on the test server some time between now and four billion years from now, when the sun will expand into a red giant, vaporize the oceans, and strip the atmosphere from the earth.

Go live is scheduled for the following tuesday.

That is a Statesmanian answer, or at least one of someone who works for the State department.

Place your bets now. $10 for "On the test server by thanksgiving"

Too bad the NBA has trademarked "I love this game" because its starting to fit CoH more and more.

Yar...When good companies go bad...on the next Maury Povich!! Actually, it happens for alot reasons but usually from pressure to get it to market from financial backers. That's one of the reasons we've seen so many "unfinished" products in recent years. If we, the gaming public, stop buying and supporting partially finished work and even PAYING a premium for it, we could solve most of our own problems and complaints.

And of course you can over-react and say things like.. [ QUOTE ]

LOL...why is it, anytime someone answers soon. All I can think of is "When will now be then?"

You know States reads these boards after posting that...seeing everyone squirm and laughs himself to sleep. Oh well...keeps me from being too bored at work

And a little company called Valve. And a moderately anticipated sequel to something called Half-Life. Remember when it had a release date of Sept. 30, 2003? And it's just now coming out this month... maybe.

Anyway, I hope it's on test for quite a while before going live. Listen to the players on the test forum and get those final bugs kinked out. Issue 2 wasn't exactly the smoothest patch I have ever seen in a game...
