After months of painstaking labor and work, I drew this high quality piece of art just for you as part of the art trade that we agreed to and that I didn't totally just make up right this moment and expect you to fulfill without actually asking.

Now get to work drawing me some art, woman!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Why, oh WHY do you refuse me so! I offer art trade after art trade, and instead you taunt me with your skills!

    [/ QUOTE ]
    LOL!~
  3. nice!

but I can see where rox is coming from...given the gritty surroundings jugg seems a might clean. I dunno still a damn fine piece of work.

    congrats Jugg! ~

    damn the man! ....errrr....wait...wrong chant...sonofa~
  9. nice work around...#4 would be my pic of the pics ~
  10. aah...link to common site then say..."critique me". gotcha.
should work...but the question is how many people take part and how indepth they are willing to go with said critiques.~
  11. ...agreed on everything presented. I do really. the manner in which requests are made are a big factor whether the favor is going to be done or not.
"ZOMG you ROXXOR my SOXXORS DRAW MEH!"
...I can completely understand how that would be a turn off, especially coming from some person whom you have never ever seen before. in this regards I will most definately agree that there could have been a better way of going about making the request.

I also would agree with Liquid in the fact that I believe the issue is more in how the requests are made versus the actual requests themselves.

...and then the evil horns poke out

is it that hard to ignore or say no?~
  12. its a good idea Mist. one that could possibly help out all involved. thumbs up from my perspective.

in regards to critiquing work in general...when it comes to "new" artists I go into it with the understanding that they know thewy are new. I avoid squashing them but I will find something that "stands out" imo...and pass it along. otherwise I try and be encouraging as the only way to get better is to keep drawing. when it comes to the more established artists...well...I basically have the same viewpoint on critiques. heh

in regards to a specific thread made for helping out artists, I do like it but it may be a little difficult to find traction with. the hardest thing being that in order to offer solutions it helps to see some reference pics. while general help can be posted in order to specifically help an artist on the things they need to refine we need to see the work in question...

as a general "help thread" or possible "things to think about when doing art work" I like the thought behind it... ~

    That, and I'm not good enough to be paid - but my art still eats up *ALOT* of time. That's not a bad thing - but if I'm going to spend 6-10+ hours on a piece, I wanna do a piece that I *want* to do ya know? <,<;

interesting comment here...and one I fully support.
...that said, where is the harm of some one asking for you to do work for them though? it is a given that you will draw what you want to draw...in effect that which inspires you...so I dont see the harm when people ask. it could be argued that if the person asked then there is a reason...and more than likely the reason is because they like something about your style. is it such a hardship to decline or plain ignore the request? the latter seems to be the standard here for artists who do not feel like doing requested work...and to be honest seems to work...as you dont see many, if any follow up posts about how "such and such stinks cause the ignored me". indeed...I would say that it is almost an understood that one can request work but there is no promise of work being done.

just some thoughts...and to be honest love discussions like this...very rare. but great exercise for the ole brain pan...not to mentioned very relevant to the art forum. ~
  14. aye...I can understand that line of thought.~

...have the feelin I'm about to get ignored by a buncha people

I would love to expand upon my form post but at this time I find that this may not be the best place to do so. the fun part is that I actually like the idea of having this conversation in the effort to find some median or understanding...~
  16. no worries, I can see how some detail could get lost that helps refine the facial features. just something I noticed is all.

either way, keep postin for us art forum junkies ~
  17. yes...back to work you tree lovin rat.... ~

  19. actually I think it looks pretty durn good all considering Dante.

Like I said, I think it's a well-produced show. If I were to boil down my displeasure with it, it would come down to the writing. As good as the writing is, it's all tension and pain. I want a show that has a certain amount of hope and heroics, not conspiracy theories, back-stabbing, paranoia and cyber-sex.

I get enough of that from watching the daily news.. which is probably why I don't watch it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
...interesting take but I would say that if you are looking for Hope and Heroics then you have indeed found them. are they displayed every episode in close up detail? nope. the hope and heroics reside within the grand scheme of the show. the will of humanity and its desire to survive. hope...given the constant set backs they are still willing to go one...still willing to fight to live. if anything...I would the say that the overriding theme is that of what you seek....hope.

on the otherside...dark and angsty. agreed, but no more so than any number of shows out there. given the level of quality that they attempt to put in here I would say they are doing a durn fine job...even more so as they are doing it within the sci-fi genre...

...in regards to hurlin tomato's? naaah...I like em for my s'ghetti sauce...and as such I offer a hearty handshake instead for the willingness to be different and the openess to accept critiques on your views even when they run counter to the popular consensus. ~
