  1. I am just floored by all this

I was trying to keep up with all the posts since last night, experiencing the full spectrum of emotions...

Now, I must explain, I'm not much of a gamer (until I gave this game to my sons for Christmas in '05) and I haven't read comics since I was a kid

    I am 46 and I build skyscrapers

    I ski

    I play hockey

I shoot, drink, spit, and curse

None of my RL friends know I play (love/ am obsessed with) this game

Well, I clicked a link at one point and it was Mad World on youtube and I had to just stop right there and log on

I dust off my fantastic fire/fire/fire blaster and when I log in he's in Atlas

I start going through his inventory and taking stock in general and I see I've got a holiday cheer, so I click it... and get a jingle jet

I start that baby up and as that music begins to play a lvl 2 comes up to me with some questions and we start talking all things CoX

He just started playing and this is his first toon

And I think to myself that he's only going to experience 'all of this' in the time it took me to get my first vet reward

    All of this

The costume creator, always being added to

The wonder and awe of discovering all the new content and zones

The ingame community, the forums, the devs, the comedy, the drama, countless hours on Mid's

The TF's, special events, dbl xp, the incredibly difficult reactor, the incredibly boring reactor, Hamis, purples, getting branded with a title from a dev

New friends from all four corners

For six years this game has kept me entertained, out of trouble, saved me money I would've spent on who knows what, angered and pacified

I want to thank you all - all the players, devs, sg mates, those I met here and will still keep in touch with

I want to wish you all the best

It's been a class act all the way and it will stay with me until the day I die

Now, I need to get this out of my eye because it looks like I've been crying

Because the bonuses stack with what he's trying to achieve (acheive?)

I disagree that this build without question must take cardiac

It shows musculature is already chosen, which comes with a little end mod

No choice for destiny, so maybe ageless if it's an issue

I slotted perf shifter for those bonuses, my drain/recovery is only marginally better and I have no issues

And there are many ways to deal with end besides cardiac
  3. When you enter combat the defense values Mid's gives for Mask suppresses

Turn Mask off and add the 3.3% you get from slotting to your totals and that's what you really have

Good idea with the laptop- I hope you get that resolved

You might want to copy this char to test before you start burning respecs, I know they're easy to come by... but still

This is an old build, I have Build Up instead of Follow Up

    No purps, no pvp

Just a reference point, maybe give you some more ideas

    PS Teleport?!?
  4. Yes

Moving the BU proc to FU means you get that 5% chance every 4 seconds instead of every 10 seconds,or whatever your attack chain allows, which has to be less than 10 seconds or just switch to Build Up because you're not stacking Follow Up

If you keep Tough, you can get Weave, which gets you closer to 59%

If You drop Kick and Tough, which both have negligible bonuses, you can get Maneuvers

I think the purples are holding you back

Sure they have great bonuses but, you don't need the accuracy with TTL, and the recovery means almost nothing compared to better end reduction slotting

Slash and Spin are end eaters and you use them every time they're up

If you're willing to give a little to get a lot, maybe go from 1 second from perma hasten to 9 seconds from perma hasten, drop a couple damage bonus percentage to 20%, and lose some regen, you could have better end use, 59% to melee and ranged, more hitpoints, and better slotting for Aid Self

My build has 1500 hitpoints, and when I think about the things that have defeated me, 80% more regen and 20% res to s/l were not going to make any difference
  5. Do you mean Mid's won't let you pick Soul? Or you can't respec into it ingame?

I wouldn't even do the respec until I got the issue resolved

A nice (expensive) build, but IMO:

The patron cone makes you jump around too much

The patron pet is a waste of a power pick

Aid Self needs to be slotted better - I say it doesn't necessarily keep a widow alive anyway

Tough doesn't keep a widow alive either and I wouldn't take it unless it was on my way to weave

I would try to put the chance for BU in Follow Up

I would try for more hitpoints with your regen and aid self

Widows are actually easy to get to the new softcap and I find that more useful than some other bonuses

And lastly, I don't know how your attack chain feels but, I would take swipe over poison dart
  6. Definitely varies according to enemy type

First there's the fear which makes them run out of it in the time it takes to cast

And some, like warwolves, treat it like a skating rink,... feels like it propels them towards me
  7. If blasters ever get MA for a secondary... probably every non weapon set
  8. There are certainly more than one AT that can fill that roll... if you build for it

VEATs are just designed so well you can really shoot for anything this game has to offer

All things considered, I am concentrating more on my nightwidow for all around everything

Mine, at this point, is 59% to melee and ranged for incarnate content, but I was able to keep spin, evicserate and dark oblit for everyday minion crunching

One weakness is less than blaster hitpoints, but I have 1400+, so not too bad

I've seen some builds here that are built for st/AV that are pretty impressive so I know it's possible

And when you look at what other ATs have to offer damagewise, and what you have to give up for survivability, and what you can bring to a team, I think well built nightwidows are up with some of the best
  9. I had it on mine

Looks great, matched my theme, ok damage, and tentacles and -tohit works well with

    ranged def

But the cones are narrow, and the hold has a long animation time

Went back to fire for the quick hold, the rez which allows a more insane playstyle, the fire

shield so I can run the demon map, and I could fit inferno again
  10. Some good advice here

Stay with /fire if you want or roll an /nrg and compare the two

/nrg if you like hoverblasting and /fire if you might enjoy seat of the pants mass destruction

The biggest dilema is finding room for everything

Ring of Fire is worth slotting for damage

Fire Sword is great damage, fast activation

Combustion, for me, is too long activation time and roots too long in melee for the damage

    FSC- nuff said

Blazing Aura is rather end heavy and I just couldn't fit it

    Consume for the nuke afterparty

Burn I have respecced in and out of and I just can't fit it now

Another must have imo is hot feet, without it I wouldn't even play mine

It comes with fear and slow which works so well with ranged def

With Invis on hot feet supresses so you can position, aim- bu, and let loose as they try to

    run away

For me, it was a race to Hot Feet, and then I could start soloing in earnest

/nrg is also nice and Boost Range for Fire Breath is maybe the number one reason

Aside from that there isn't much in fire/ to stack with the stuns and it's very st
  11. To the OP:

For solo pve any stalker is worthwhile

I personally only roll defensive secondaries as I enjoy middle of the group fighting and uninterrupted AS in the middle of a fight

I also neglect the secondary until the 20s

It is a certain playstyle but that can be said of a lot of ATs/ power combos although maybe the curve is a little steeper

As far as the stalker vs all other ATs debate:

Everything is relative and you can't just make broad statements with all the variables in this game

The new build up refresh mechanic has made me start playing my km/sr again

He languished at 47 for a bit but now I'll be on him a lot more

He hits hard, is survivable, and to softcap I have maneuvers, tactics, and by extension, vengeance, so he brings that to a team

And I'll put him up against my nrg/nrg blaster, or my claws/da scrapper

But how do you compare to a ss/sd brute? Or a fire/sd scrapper?

There's a reason why scrappers are the most created AT

The same reason why Family Guy is a hit and Arrested Developement got cancelled

I'm glad people have these misconceptions about stalkers, it adds to the coolness factor

    Tray Management

Get up c'mon get down with the clickness!

    9 trays
    all 4 chat tabs
    every window open
lots of binds and macros but I don't bind powers
And I monitor a bunch of stuff (defense, damage bonus, stealth)

I use a Fang and mouse to move and fight and the keyboard is for chatting

Might seem cluttered but works out ok after messing with the window and font scales
  13. Play around with colors and maybe it's not ice- crystals for example

or go dark and it's nano technology or insects (or other very small bio weapon)

or one is your ability and the other is provided by a device or talisman, like a glove or suit

or you're just naturally that way and so is everyone where you come from

That would be too close to an I win button

You need to have attacks break hide or it messes with strategy and accountability

And if the rehide helps bring res on par with def what do you do about suppressed toggles?

Say you're DA (or even fire if we ever get it) and you play out those scenarios- it makes the toggles meaningless because they have somewhere near one second out of every seven to apply

Solve the whole demoralize-not-procing issue too since, if you 1-shot something with AS, you're still hidden to strike again. The enemies would still know you're there but you can pop another shot off...possibly killing another to put you in hide again...

Funny... seems to me like you were being sarcastic, but that is a good idea

I doubt it would ever get implemented like that tho, it might be a matter of perspective but nerfs can and have been on game changing magnitude and buffs usually sit on the fence between subtle and insubstantial

The OP basically states that whether or not there are problems that can or cannot be fixed, the real issue is how much work would be involved

And even if changing how hide works isn't too difficult it would change how the AT is played

So, something not too difficult to get done that wouldn't radically alter the stalker experience

What would it take to introduce enhancements specifically for AS?

Along the lines of what are available for snipes and taunt, there could be sets that have procs for the things we want like chance for status effects and/ or chance to rehide etc...

Generics could be hide timer redux, demoralize duration etc...

It would enable you to build more for your playstyle while keeping in line with what was originally intended for stalkers

Just off the top of my head (not really but who doesn't want to appear more intelligent than they really are?)

    Agreed
  17. Definitely not on my km/sr stalker and I would know as I didn't take anything from the secondary until 28

Nor on my fire/kin troller or kin/ice def or kin/dark def or kin/elec def/corr
  18. Definitely agreeing with Leo on this

I also don't understand how people can feel like the redheaded stepchild to scrappers and brutes

Stalkers, the way I see/play them are the mirror to blasters and brutes to scrappers

Yes, there are some problems, but I think first and foremost the placate mechanic needs to be looked at

Next, I would want something done about how resistance sets don't perform like defense- sure the new fix suppressing toggles is nice but you should be able to get another AS off mid battle... open with AS and then scrap (or flee)? c'mon stalkers aren't supposed to play like scrappers

Even caltrops just ruins it for me-I can't placate and execute something running from me in fear?

Other than those two, any suggestion slightly above marginal is going straight into the wastebin that sits under the suggestion box
  19. It's difficult to answer what is wrong with your build if no one knows anything about it, and generally people don't really post builds or guides anymore- it's more of a critique thing these days

Post what you have and you will get more attention
