What are Night Widows for?

I have never played a Night Widow before, but I am looking for a ST archetype that can solo AV's and I was wondering if a melee NightWidow could be that toon.

High End Widow Guide is what you're looking for.

My only issue with that guide is it isn't really a Night Widow. More of a Blood Widow on steroids. But it'll take out AVs no problem, I think.

Personally, I'm much more into the "true" Night Widow builds that still have really good performance (from an overall game play standpoint) and bring the actual flavor of the Night Widow as well. That means taking the Psi attacks and Smoke Grenade.

My favorite characters always bring some min-max, but always also mitigate that with flavor that brings versatility and overall fun to the build and to the game. Being a complete slave to math, for me, isn't fun. Though I do find value in paying some attention to it.

Night Widows are for making one of the strongest melee characters in the game. They have Toxic DoT in their attacks, fast recharging hits, enough defense to make softcapping almost easy, stealth...Basically, it's something between a Claws/SR Stalker with Toxic DoT and a Scrapper, plus team buffs (Leadership powers and Mind Link), a few psychic powers to choose if you wish, and Smoke Grenade, which I didn't find all that useful. When made right, they're some of the most powerful characters in the game.

Too many alts to list.

There are certainly more than one AT that can fill that roll... if you build for it

VEATs are just designed so well you can really shoot for anything this game has to offer

All things considered, I am concentrating more on my nightwidow for all around everything

Mine, at this point, is 59% to melee and ranged for incarnate content, but I was able to keep spin, evicserate and dark oblit for everyday minion crunching

One weakness is less than blaster hitpoints, but I have 1400+, so not too bad

I've seen some builds here that are built for st/AV that are pretty impressive so I know it's possible

And when you look at what other ATs have to offer damagewise, and what you have to give up for survivability, and what you can bring to a team, I think well built nightwidows are up with some of the best

OK well I think I'll make one when I get off this morning, i have played PB and WS and I know they also can be made to fill whatever role but I kinda like my builds tight and focused, I have aoe farmers and a main tank but I don't have anything that specializes in single target or AV killing so that is what I'll be shooting for, I should be able to post a build this morning when I get home and have access to internet so you guys can hopefully pick it apart. I have perma mind link but I am sitting at 43ish percent S/L without it and melee even higher, 350% ish regen and overall to me (who has never played this toon) it looks good.

Agree with this except for TopDocs guide. It was good at the time, but its very outdated now. Last build was with Legacy Fitness and left a bit to be desired. Haven't checked out the more recent builds by others in the thread though, those might be a better bet.

All of the Veats are AV and Pylon Capable. Most builds should be both AV and Pylon Capable. The main exceptions would be Ranged Based Fortunata and AoE Focused Crab without pets. However, both Fortunata and Crab can be built with sufficient offense to take on both AVs and Pylons.
