Just finished my Widow Build

I have been pulling resources from all my toons, some had a great deal more than I thought they had, and I finally got enough together to finish this build. So far it has run great, especially on everything under AVs. I can stand toe-to-toe with GMs and work some down. The only issues I've had are with endurance in long fights, which restricts my ability to take down GMs and AVs. I do not have the Alpha beyond first tier yet, and have not worked on the other incarnate slots much. What should I be looking at changing?

Shatter Armor on a widow is non-optimal; it is at best equal to TTA and it may even lower your dps, use sparingly. However, it is always good for the team.

Follow-Up Slotting could definitely be different, but the changes I would make, would break up Gaussians, and then you would need more defense from somewhere else.

Spin Slotting, I hope all your accuracy bonuses are purples, if not, you'll have a problem if you ever malfactor vs +4s.

It's just a note, something you might want to look into if you have not already. Your build looks odd to me, I've not a clue what your proper attack chain should be, nor how to modify or improve it. I'm assuming you were after recharge bonuses at all costs. It is entirely possible that you could get a better attack chain at lower cost and lower recharge. I would have to spend more time than it's worth to me, to analyze it.

Use T1 Cardiac for now. If that doesn't get your endurance under control, then T4 Musculature Radial will not either. T4 Musculature Radial is only a 0.10 boost on average, while T1 Cardiac is considerably more. T1 Cardiac is .14 on toggles alone, and another 0.4 to 0.6 or more on your attack chain for a total of up to 0.5 to 1.0 eps depending on the build.

If you find T1 Cardiac does not cover your needs, then you'll know you then need (Ageless +Recovery with Musculature), or Cardiac.

Looks like a Blood Widow build to me.. but I have some questions.


1. Why putting two slots in Kick?? You are not going to use it anyway.

2. I would drop Placate. Without Build Up, Placate is not worth it. I would take Confront. Some people say it helps especially against running bosses/AVs

3. If you are Blood Widow, I would take two Assault. That's 30% constant damage buff + 30% from your Follow Up. That's 60%.


What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

I am looking at making some changes, but first your questions.

Two-slotting kick was done to increase damage by 1.5%, although if I find a better use for the slot it'll be single-slotted.

Have been debating dropping placate. I used it a lot as a panic and aggro control button in lower levels, but now has become a waste. So I will probably drop it.

I do have both Assaults.

I've heard bad things about Shatter Armor, I thought redraw issues were supposed to have been solved. But, that aside, I may be switching it out. Perhaps taking Strike which, while it lacks the -res, hits harder in terms of DPA.

Spin Slotting is all purples, and I actually have Damage/Accuracy not the straight Damage one.

The attack chain I have been using is Sl>FU>SA>Lu>FU... along those lines. The DPA makes the first chain hugely powerful, but for AVs and GMs the breaks start to drop my overall DPS.

I will be looking at the following changes on Mids, and playing with them before trying them in-game.

Potentially dumb question; but have you unlocked your Patron Power Pools (Link) on that character ?

If so and you can get leviathan, then you should /petition it and get a GM to fix you.

Do you mean Mid's won't let you pick Soul? Or you can't respec into it ingame?

I wouldn't even do the respec until I got the issue resolved

A nice (expensive) build, but IMO:

The patron cone makes you jump around too much

The patron pet is a waste of a power pick

Aid Self needs to be slotted better - I say it doesn't necessarily keep a widow alive anyway

Tough doesn't keep a widow alive either and I wouldn't take it unless it was on my way to weave

I would try to put the chance for BU in Follow Up

I would try for more hitpoints with your regen and aid self

Widows are actually easy to get to the new softcap and I find that more useful than some other bonuses

And lastly, I don't know how your attack chain feels but, I would take swipe over poison dart

I'm unlocked, and the inability to open either of those two pools is an undefined error that I have been working with the technical staff to try to address for several months already. I do not know when it will be solved, and as such will continue with Leviathan until I can solve the problem.

I don't use the cones very much, they are basically mules for the purples, although they do come in handy in limited circumstances. I would prefer Mu, but that isn't happening right now.

I actually like both the 4% damage buff and the extra damage I get from the Patron Pet. I just make sure I have enough aggro to keep him alive and he has been working well for me.

I will look into some re-slotting patterns, but have been doing well with this build so far. I know that the BU works better in FU, but then I do lose the defensive bonus from the full set.

As far as my attack chain, I use Follow-Up, Strike, Lunge and Slash. I don't even need Hasten unless I'm up against an EB or Hero. So, I took Poison Dart over Swipe because it offered a place to slot purples as well as a nice draw power.

So, sorry, just working on a shuffle, but you think I should move the BU to FU, increase slotting on Aid Self and try to find a way to up my Defense possibly dropping Tough in the process?

Yes

Moving the BU proc to FU means you get that 5% chance every 4 seconds instead of every 10 seconds,or whatever your attack chain allows, which has to be less than 10 seconds or just switch to Build Up because you're not stacking Follow Up

If you keep Tough, you can get Weave, which gets you closer to 59%

If You drop Kick and Tough, which both have negligible bonuses, you can get Maneuvers

I think the purples are holding you back

Sure they have great bonuses but, you don't need the accuracy with TTL, and the recovery means almost nothing compared to better end reduction slotting

Slash and Spin are end eaters and you use them every time they're up

If you're willing to give a little to get a lot, maybe go from 1 second from perma hasten to 9 seconds from perma hasten, drop a couple damage bonus percentage to 20%, and lose some regen, you could have better end use, 59% to melee and ranged, more hitpoints, and better slotting for Aid Self

My build has 1500 hitpoints, and when I think about the things that have defeated me, 80% more regen and 20% res to s/l were not going to make any difference

I lost 3% to damage and 4% to regen, but reached the 59% on all positionals. I also dropped Hasten completely along with Kick and Tough. This should help with Endurance and I should be able to maintain my chain even without Hasten. The Guardian is no longer perma'd, but I never needed him to be anyway.

Shifting the Purples to Lunge should actually up my total damage, and the slotting allows Slash to fit a little better in the chain. I have a couple respecs so I may just try this build out real quick and see how it works. I'm also considering loading CoX onto my laptop as a workaround for the respec.

Still looking for feedback, and very thankful for the feedback I have received thus far. The current build I just used to solo the respec trial, so it is working alright. Just looking to make it as perfect as it can be.

When you enter combat the defense values Mid's gives for Mask suppresses

Turn Mask off and add the 3.3% you get from slotting to your totals and that's what you really have

Good idea with the laptop- I hope you get that resolved

You might want to copy this char to test before you start burning respecs, I know they're easy to come by... but still

This is an old build, I have Build Up instead of Follow Up

No purps, no pvp

Just a reference point, maybe give you some more ideas

The new mids lets you turn off the suppressed portion of powers.

Options -> Config -> Effects -> Suppression -> Attacked and ActivateAttack

I like teleport... Although I took it off this build, kept Recall Friend though.

I shifted some powers around to try to make this a little more conducive to Flashback missions.

My numbers for Defense look a lot better, although I did sacrifice a little more Regen to make it happen.

Switching to Soul Mastery, although I prefer the Mu TAoE over the cone, Soul is just better concept-wise, and has a better pet.

Why the Stamina slotting? End Mod, Proc and IO should do you just fine. You'll have no choice but to go Cardiac anyway so end issues will improve a lot once you get that slotted.

Because the bonuses stack with what he's trying to achieve (acheive?)

I disagree that this build without question must take cardiac

It shows musculature is already chosen, which comes with a little end mod

No choice for destiny, so maybe ageless if it's an issue

I slotted perf shifter for those bonuses, my drain/recovery is only marginally better and I have no issues

And there are many ways to deal with end besides cardiac

Interesting build. Your pushing up a bunch of stuff I wouldn't normally focus on, could be effective.

One quick comment, not build specific really, but something I have been thinking about. Since the iTrials have come out and we have seen the new base to-hit in there, I have often found myself leaning towards softcapping my widows and fortunata's without mindlink. This allows me use it or not as I prefer, not having to fire off a 4 second cast in middle of a fight is a ncie perk. Plus if I do want to keep it up, it pushes you past the new softcap. It's not really that hard to build for softcap without mindlink. However it would be hard to do with all the other stuff you've working into your build. Just a thought I wanted to mention.

I'm doing fine without Cardiac, and crunching the numbers, I don't think I need it.

If I get into trouble I always have Recovery Serum to lean on, or I could simply turn off a couple toggles

The reason I have slotted Stamina as I have is because of great set bonuses and, well, there are three ways to improve Endurance performance. Increase End. Increase Recovery. And decrease consumption. I have done my best to balance those approaches with the other goals of the build in mind. Looking down the line I am going to take Ageless under Destiny (not slotted so I can see what the build looks like most of the time, not for just 10s out of every 2m)

This build has less than a point away from general soft-cap in Melee and Ranged without ML, but I don't see getting Trial Softcap without ML being practical. I could put together a build to show you what it would look like...

I would pull the guassian's 5% chance proc from follow up.. and add the slot to kick (or Boxing either one) and in those 2 slots use it as a mule for 2x Absolute Amazement for 4% more recovery. You will find with that much recharge, your attack chain is going to eat through end fairly quickly.

I would also drop CT Offensive. It is not needed.. instead put Mind Link in there with a Membrane Exposure.

I would also drop Hover and instead put Hasten there with 2 generic recharge IOs. A widow in the fight does not have time to hover around. It's fast and furious, and this change does not effect your defense numbers much if you also take Mind Link instead of CT Offensive.

Your mind link will be real close to perma even with the single hami in it.

Your Follow up attack is on a 4 second recharge for a 10 second duration, turn that on and check your tohit/acc numbers and you will see why I said you don't need CT Offensive.

Overall these changes will boost your defense numbers way higher, provide your team with a better buff then CT Offensive, and allow you to strike faster on target (without hovering around)
