Now we will get creepy, dead threads -

Now, to kill that pesky baby unicorn and his friends {Note to self: Must remember to pick up energy bow and wizard hat.} -
So only 5 people post on these forums? Wow we must have a lot of charicters
j/k, but think of it as recruiting for your favorite thread. There are a lot of really cool characters out there and I (and I assume others) want to know more about them. -

That this is the BIGGEST failure in Cryptic's history.
[/ QUOTE ]
To be fair. As Cryptic's ONLY project ( that I am aware of) to date. This IS Cryptic's biggest failure. Of course, it is also it's biggest sussess. Go fig. -

And once again, people hate me because those are things that I want in the game....when I ask for them...these are the kinds of reactions I get.
[/ QUOTE ]
Okay, No flaming, but my honest oppinion.
I believe the most of the negitive responce that you get is from the appearance that you show no sign of a sence of humor about yourself, or about the subjects you choose to talk on. I, personally, have not seen a single thread in these forums that did not require a grain of salt to digest, yet you seam to be on a salt free diet.
Oh, and I have never understood the "You can't have fun at another person's expence." line of reasoning. I have yet to hear, read, or see a piece of humor that WASN'T in some way at someone esle's expence.
Me? I'm looking forward to the thread that makes fun of me. That means that I will have helped someone form an oppinion, that what I have said has made an impact on someone thousand of miles away. And I will laugh along with them, because, even if it is at my expence, funny is funny and I will be glad that SOMEONE is smiling insted of sulking around having a craptastic day.
<shrug> of course that's just me -

Im hoping that the Incarnates are incarnations of concepts as opposed to being deities incarnate. It seams to me that being the embodiment of something as intangible as an ideal would allow a greater range of role-playing.
Sure, there would be a hoard of Incarnation of Justice, or Incarnation of Protection backgrounds, but it would be neat to be the Incarnation of Pratfalls or the Incarnation of Serendipity. Just dont be the Incarnation of Superfluous; you will never get a team.
-
Well my attempts to derail this thread seem to be only marginally effective so I would like to point out that if you take ten people from ANY background, one of them is going to be a jerk.
Really people why waist your time not liking someone because of things they have no control over (Place of birth, the amount of pigment in their skin, ect.) when there are generally better reasons not to like them -

And being good Americans, were going to bomb the hell out of them the moment their backs are turned! YAY AMERICA!

Whatever, we're americans. We don't "bomb" anyone. We "liberate" all over their faces.
On a sidenote: Synapse is dead, well mostly dead. no, he's not getting better. He's gonna cancel his account, him and his 15 friends, including states. His Player told me after the SS changes, CoH's DEVS are out to get him, so CoH sux and is now gonna go play WoW.
True story....

Meh. He'll be back. CoH sucks you in (pun intended) -

I have seen this xenophobia junk on other forums and I had really hoped that CoH wouldn't get the disease.
Don't hate ramen just because it's tasty and inexpensive!
Every culture has it's heroes (and tasty snack treats). The heroes of Paragon have had many alliances with heroes of other countries in times of war and peace.
(Insert Web of Arachnos subliminal message)
A hero is a hero, is a hero. Korean, English, Mutant, American or Kheldian. All heroes would do well to remember that, not just in times of need.
[/ QUOTE ]
I'm offended. How can you, in good consconce (and good spelling) insert common sense and reason into a thread that has so rapidly devolved into such a fine example of drool-inducing, mind-numbing mud-slinging. Why the only thing it is missing is the random sectioning of quotes.
Oh, and Dynamic curses to you and your stealling of my avitar
*Throws acorn* -
I thought it would be fun to throw in a bit of a thing where we get to shout out about what our characters think about the other characters in the various RP threads in this section. This would all be OOC, but from the point of view of our characters and it should be a kick to see how the other characters we play with see our heroes. So state which thread you are a part of and what you think of the heroes and secondary characters (NPCs as well if you wish) in your thread.
The New Recruits.
Sartain: The maternal influence. Calm and collected, seems to know whats going on and how to deal with it.
Radon: Knows where he wants to go and what he wants to do. Uncomfortable with himself.
Celes: The big sister. I pity the villains when she finally starts to believe in her self
Vulpa: My character
Super Shard: Fortunately every time Im feeling down, he wanders by so I have someone to yell at.
Lord Raymond: The paternal one. Stoic and sturdy. Ive noticed every time he taunts someone he gets hurt.
Enegyst: The big boss man. Seems concerned for our welfare. This is a good thing.
Egghead: Mr. Every-where-fix-it/make-it-guy. Glad hes on our side.
Patchwork: There when you need him with a sword, or with a funny. Weird, but I like him.
Mr. Null: just joined.
Demonic Shadow: mostly unconscious.
Mended Rib: Like a brother. Most likely to take one for the team.
Hydrocity: Just joined
ElectroKitty: RIP sister I never met.
Secondary/NP characters
Red Son: Im looking forward to the rematch.
Phantasm: My character.
Fox Solder: All I got to say is that Stinky should avoid me.
Well there you have it. So whos who in the other threads and how do the other recruits see each other? -

Oh, and you may not be able to get a FRIGGIN Laser on you head, but you will be able to get one to come out of your a@@, thus the scorpion armor -
The Phantasim: RL the misspell is due to my lack of any kind of spelling ablity, int the back-story, however...
beginning his carreer in the 1930's, he didn't care enough to choose a name for himself, thinking a nameless force that struck in the night would be more unnerving to the criminals he hunted. On June 14th, 1938 the headline on the Chicago Tribune read "Misterious Phantasim Strickes Undreworld". The typo wasn't caught by the editor and the corection was printed deep in the paper where noone would see it, but by then it was already to late, everyone assumed that the mis-spelling was intentional and it stuck...He's still alittle sensitive about the whole thing
Vulpa: "It's Latin for fox, Stupid!" or so says the battle cry
Mister Majestic: Well, he's very full of himself and thinks of himself as very...well...majestic. -
We all know how to play. Add the next paragraph and let's see where it goes.
Steve felt more than a little disappointed that the most interesting thing to happen in his life was nothing more than a retread of an old urban legend. But he still found it hard to repress a shudder as he pulled away from the home of the elderly couple and their old photos of the long dead daughter whom he had just picked up hitch-hiking on the side of the road. It took less than a mile for him to decide to ignore the scent of roses that hung in his car and to keep the whole incident to himself. -
This is very likely the wrong forum, but I thought this was fun and I'm always looking for a chance to get other people's opinions, soooo.....
Jack had powers.
He didnt know where they came from, but he decided make himself a costume and battle Evil.
Not something of spandex, or leather, but a mans costume. He found a nice, dark, pair of Dockers (relaxed fit), a red, long-sleeved t-shirt, and a full-faced ski mask that seemed to look impressive in the mirror.
Jack would go out every night looking to right wrongs, but since he never saw anyone getting mugged from his car nothing ever came of it. So after several weeks he would go out less and less, and finally he put the costume in the back of his closet and didnt go out on patrol any more.
One day, on his way to work, Jack came upon an accident. Two men were standing beside their wrecked vehicles arguing and waiving their arms at one another. One man was tall and stocky, the other was somewhat bookish.
He also had a gun.
Jack, finally seeing his chance to use his powers for good, jumped from his car.
The small man turned to Jack
And shot him.
*there you go everyone, criticize away* -

Fire armor does not give Defense. It gives damage resistance. Resistance reduces the amount of damage you take, and defense reduces the chance you can get hit.
Let say you had a power that gave you 50% damage resistance to fire and 10% damage resistance to lethal. Now lets say you got hit with a Fire Sword (lethal and fire damage) for 100 points of fire and 100 points of lethal damage. You would only take 50 points of Fire damage and 90 points of Lethal damage.
(For the record, the Tanker power, Fire Shield, gives a base 30% damage resistance to smashing, lethal, fire, and 10% resistance to cold (no defense.))
Defense, however, reduces your change to get hit (it does not reduce damage). Lets say a FF defender put a Deflection Shield on you and you were also in his Dispersion bubble (lets say un-enhanced for this example). The Deflection Shield would give you 25% Defense to Lethal and Smashing attacks and the Dispersion bubble would give you 18.75% Defense to Lethal, Smashing, Fire, Cold, Energy and Negative Energy Attacks. You would thus have a total of 43.75% defense to Lethal and Smashing. Now lets say you were attacked with that Fire sword. A fire sword is a lethal and a fire attack. You have 43.75% defense to Lethal, and 18.75% defense to fire. Your defense to Lethal is greater, so that is the defense that matters. The Fire Swords chance to hit will be reduced by 43.75%. However, if you get hit, you take dull damage.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't know about the rest of you, but when I take damage it's never dull -

Weeeelllll, you didn't ask me, but zero's avitar is from "Office Space". The avitar is in the prosses of beeting the crud out of a defective copy machine.

It just occurred to me that being upset about upcoming and unseen issues in this game (or in any situation, really) is somewhat akin to complaining about March because you dont think you will like the weather and then demanding that there be more June. None of us here have any real idea what the weather will be like in March, or what the entirety of the next issue will be, so getting flustered about what may, or may not ever really happen strikes me as a bit unnecessary.
