Quite impressive how you stopped reading after one line.
Quote:LFT flag and spamming broadcast
If you expect me to really respond, you need to go back and actually read what I said. I clearly said I asked people, had read and acknowledged their LFG messages, and had given the details of what we were doing in the message, yet you still give some canned post about spamming broadcast.
And if someone wants to pass the message on to SwellGuy, my global is @el chupacabre if he feels like avoiding me ingame as well. Anyone with ignore on quickdraw is someone I will be happy to avoid. -
Quote:Exactly. That's what I said.ED has nothing to do with the resistance cap, which is a separate mechanic.
I only mentioned the soft cap because that's what it sounded like Tyrrano was talking about when he mentioned debuff resist. I assumed he had confused the effects of ED for soft capping. -
Quote:Unless I am really, really confused, then no, it doesn't. Pushing above the soft cap helps with debuffs, but ED is more like a hard cap than a soft cap. ED makes resist not go about X value for a power, while the soft cap lets it go as high as you want, but beyond Z it isn't useful. If you did use 3 pure resist enhancements and bump it well up into ED territory, doesn't that help when hit with resistance debuffs?
Quote:Perhaps they see it as 'working as intended' - figuring that you can get some recharge enhancement without really being able to get it near the ED-level. -
I think you pick it afterwards, but soon. The problem I see with that is it seems arbitrary, since those are independent of hero/villain. i know that currently I have characters planned for both resistance and loyalist that plan on going hero after 20.

What on earth are you talking about, Mr Cryptic?
Oh, I see your post now. Dude, I'm an adult. I have a job.
Do it Sunday. Pinnacle. 1pm-3pm. No asking your SG members to log characters onto that server. No TF, just a 40-50 mission group. You will fail. There will probably not be enough characters on who don't explicitly refuse such groups in their LFG message to make a full team.
I'll give you the win if you hit 5 counting yourself within the time frame.
And no people in this thread cheating to make a point.
Quote:I'll give you 20 minutes to respond here with your in-game character name.
Put up, or shut up. \ -
Quote:Well, I've been on my server (Pinnacle) since launch day, so I'm not moving without all my characters and my SG base - which I don't see happening anytime soon. It certainly wasn't low pop when I picked it. I would have picked a different one if the name had been "watch the tumbleweeds roll by".I've done this on Virtue, Freedom, Justice, Pinnacle, and Guardian.
But if you're sitting on a low pop server annoyed you aren't in a team of 8 at all times, you're probably on the wrong server. Some people like the low pop servers. It's like standing in a puddle annoyed there aren't enough whales. That's not what the puddle's for. It's so kids can make mud pies. I think I was going somewhere with this analogy.
And I'm not talking about teams of 8. Sunday I played for 9 hours with LFG up and never saw an invite. When i finally needed to get more damage/debuff/whatever to take out 2 AVs I couldn't solo, it took another 2.5 hours to get 2 people to help - and to get them I had to give up asking people if they wanted to group and switch to asking people to do me a favor by helping out.
Switching the difficulty to remove AVs and beating it solo would have been easier than getting 2 people, and that seems like a waste for an online game. It doesn't make me happy with the state of the game when I can honestly say that 90% of the time it's easier for me to solo than to get a group together. -
Quote:It's almost like i said that already. While there is a difference to the past, the general claim is that the game is dying because of that when the reality is that the game has changed. The drop in population is not why you don't have the getting bombarded with invites upon login as much as the shift to instances plus the addition of CoV and many more CoH zones as well as the abilty to adjust our difficulties beyond the actual team composition.
Oh wait, there it is -"Now, I don't know whether to blame any changes on lower population or simply on the effect IO sets and the new difficulty settings have had on the ability to solo content".
Most of the people in this thread are stuck in some defensive mindset, where every criticism of the current state game is taken as a pronouncement of doom and reacted to with canned responses that don't actually correspond to the complaints made.
It might help if people would not quote walls of text and actually read what's on the screen before responding. -
Quote:Name your server.Well I don't know what to tell you. I lead teams about 90% of the time when I play, both because my friends are lazy and because I'm good at it. I can fill up a team from 1 to 8 with entirely pubbies in about 5-15 minutes, every single time, any time of day, no matter what I'm doing. I don't have this "drama" or "headache" you speak of. I don't send blind invites either. Sounds like a problem on your end.

Just an additional note on slotting parts that don't affect the power. At 50, it takes just over 2 slots to hit the ED cap where you get really huge diminishing returns for putting in additional enhancements. So, if trying to max something out, it makes no sense to use more than 3 of one type - and most of the third one is wasted because it goes over the limit.
With a set, you could put in the pure resist, a resist/end, and a resist/recharge. For the sets with two different abilities, you get the equivalent of 75% effectiveness for each one, so 1+.75+.75 would give you the equivalent of 2.5 resist enhancements in the same three slots and end up losing less than 1 percent enhancement value because of ED.
Essentially, you are getting the same enhancement to the power for the same number of slots and then getting 2 set bonuses for free. Not a bad deal at all. -
So does anyone have anything more concrete than baseless speculation on how anything split by red/blue is going to interact with Praetorians once GR goes live? It seems odd to have no groups and no markets until level 20 when you are forced to choose a side - and I seriously doubt they will create a third completely separate faction given how bad the result of separating red/blue already is for the market.
Both solutions - no market vs third market - sound terrible.
I do think it will be interesting to have 20 levels where there is no twinking possible (at least at first) might be interesting, so I'm not as concerned about groups and the mail system. -
Quote:Yes, it is a huge improvement in convenience. Yet, you still have to actively seek out and make groups which didn't used to be the case.Or perhaps to solve other issues, like having to refuse spots because there *wasn't* someone to mentor or sidekick available - an issue that is no longer a problem?
People keep giving all this advice on how you can get groups, and some of it is valid. But all of that advice ignores the fact that the advice wasn't needed 3-4 years ago. You could group just fine from 1-50 without ever forming a group of your own or building friends lists. You could PUG to 50 with no trouble beyond trying to SK the wrong number of people in.
Yes, you can compensate for this difference by doing certain things, but that does not mean that the difference is not there. The very fact that you do need to do these things now and didn't have to do them in the past indicates that there is a very large difference.
Quote:Oh, wait, no. Has to be dooooooooooooooomthegameisdyingmergeeverything. Yep. Only explanation. -
Quote:Wow you dodge points with deftness. I never suggested merging servers. I simply object to people claiming that teaming is not less common now than it used to be. The claim is just as silly as those who say CoV isn't distinctly different than CoH in terms of grouping.whatever the cause may be (if there is any "cause") people are not teaming(as far as you and op are concerned). forcing me, or anybody else that does not want to team, onto a server with more people is not going to make me team more, just tell more people "no, thank you". i like the lower pop servers, and want them to stay.
If I had to come up with a solution, it would be cross server grouping, since most of the content is already instanced. -

Powers, slots, and enhancements. A real 45 is just better than a 15 SKed to 45. It really matters if you're killing an AV instead of running radio missions.
Quote:Replace "Wishful thinking" with "Experience" and "Teaming changes in the game, such as SSK."
I mean the game used to have good teaming, so something that made it even easier should make teaming breathtakingly wonderful, instead of meagerly passable - that is unless the improvement was being used to offset a noticeable decrease in teaming. -
Just because people keep saying something doesn't mean it's true. Even if you do know how to use the search function, you still run a real risk of only finding 30 people within 10 levels of yourself and 75% of them having LFG messages saying they only do trials and TFs (or bizarrely telling you they will purposefully get you killed if allowed on your team).
When trying to tell someone why I like this game more than most MMOs, I give an example of a random Wednesday afternoon from several years ago, where we were able to put together a successful TF pick up group with 6 strangers who had never met before or since - something I have not seen in any other game. But it's also not something I see in the game now.
Now, I don't know whether to blame any changes on lower population or simply on the effect IO sets and the new difficulty settings have had on the ability to solo content, but to say that it's not more difficult to find groups now than it used to be seems more based on wishful thinking than on anything resembling reality. -
One power with 100% chance of knockback is good. 6 powers with 25% chance of knockback are terrible.

I destroyed 4 sluggers and 2 hammers today, because my global was full of grenades and assorted others. I kind like it, but this stuff is going to be vendor trash really fast at this rate.

Since you can only have one auto fire power, I'm trying to make two different powers fire constantly.
I'm using the auto command because if I just fire the power, it keeps giving me that annoying beep every time I move, because they aren't refreshed yet. -
I just tried to set up these two bind and I can't get it to work like I want -
/bind W "+forward$$powexec_auto Active Defense"
/bind S "+backward$$powexec_auto Hasten"
They work fine except that they turn off the toggle as soon as I release the button. I assumed this was because the "+" does a double press, when you press and when you release, so I reversed the command to -
/bind W "powexec_auto Active Defense$$+forward"
and that left the toggle on, but it also left the forward movement on, so it was a perma autorun.
How do I get the commands to leave the auto power on, but only move when I'm pressing? -
Quote:You're a cool guy. I like the cut of your jib.I'm not a fan of the elitism that tends to surround these sorts of unlockables, and would rather they had just been available to everyone the moment they were put in the game. I feel the same way about unlockable weapons, costume pieces, capes, and auras. No matter how many times I've had to unlock such things myself, if they made them all available from the beginning to everyone starting tomorrow I wouldn't be "pissed" because IMO that's how it should have been from the get-go.
-
I'm not so sure the set bonuses are as useless on a DS because of how good the whip attacks are - but that's still a small amount of overall damage.
So if it fires per hit, wouldn't that make tier 2 best with the damage aura or will it also fire on the demon prince frozen aura? -
So is the reason for not using in the tier 3 just slow attacks per second?
-
So, I'm holding off on making my DS until GR hits so I can start praetorian and go hero, and what drops today but a Soulbound Proc on my hero farmer.
So, would that be better in the tier 2 or the tier 3? Does it even matter for the proc going off if you have more than 1 pet attacking? -
