If those two TFs were incarnate content, you would have a point, but since they are not, you don't. More options are good. Now they need to actually give us options. When they do, it will be good.

Quote:While what you say is true, I don't see how it's relevant. The difference between Hamidon and MS and these new trials is that Hami and MS aren't required for advancing your character. Until we see some indication that there is a solo or small group path to incarnate content, then the OP reaction is very reasonable. The devs are making it look like these huge mega groups are the future of the game.In my opinion you are making too much of it.
The way you need to be looking at these raids is like instanced versions of Hamidon or the Rikti ship raids. It is not a Task Force. In fact, if the "friend" who was mentioned by the OP paused to think about it, he'd realize that Lambda is a significantly paired down raid compared to what has come before. -
Change is change. There is nothing superior about content requiring 16 people compared to content that you can do with 3-4. The idea that the numbers have to go higher to provide something new is short sighted and will very likely drive people away.

Those 2 are in the offices behind the shut doors.

Currently they proc every time damage is done and ignore the whole "every 10 seconds" limitation of normal procs. Reactive turns caltrops into a burn patch.

Quote:Do they need to have that box checked to add to a trial already in action? I saw several go in with less than full and I never saw anyone added.Your teammates were incorrect. If you queue with a less than full league it will automatically add anyone in the queue to your league. This generally (but not always) results in a full league.
I've done this a few times on leagues where I didn't feel like filling the last few spots so I have no problem with it as an option, I just think forcing players to do it is a bad idea. -
Make it optional. There were several times where we waited to fill 3-4 spots and would have gladly taken any solos waiting. I assumed it did work like that, but was disappointed when teammates confirmed it wouldn't auto-fill holes.

Well, gifting the temp powers is easy, but so is using them relatively safely. The big problem is accomplishing anything during stage 3 besides standing by the door.
New softcap aside, my FM/SD scrapper had no problem blowing by everything in the halls and destroying a barrel/crate before they could kill me and moving along to the next one with a green or 2 (and similar results with my widow minus a couple of deaths, but she's not even level shifted). But I never saw more than 3 people in a group, and they were always fighting instead of going for the breakies - and there's no way I could take a single hit in those situations.
Aggro management doesn't exist in those timed areas. BAF is joke on any character, but Lambda is very much a fend for yourself situation during part 3. -

Quote:#1 it's still a grind even if you can do it quickly - even more of a grind given the effect of sitting through that cut scene for the 10th time. Now, don't get me wrong, i want more options too, but the current 'grind' really isnt that bad right now, as everyone and thier uncle is running these trials, and most have it down to a science (baf in under 20 mins, lambda in under 25)
#2 your times don't include the 40-60 minute waits on getting a team ready. -
Your understanding of how numbers work is horribly flawed. This chain of reasoning you have here is only valid for certain values of "more inf then shards" (also, the word is "than").
-
Quote:No, people are looking at the lack of an either or choice. There is functionally only one path and that's poor. It would be good if it were "either/or", but it isn't, it's trials or not at all.A lot of people seem to be looking at the Shards and Threads as an either/or situation when it comes to non-Alpha Incarnate progress. I see it more as a bonus -- every piece of content in the entire game now has the ability to provide Incarnate characters some advancement via Shard drops.
If they had a third option that took a reasonable length of time, then we could treat shard conversion as a bonus, but they didn't offer that. -
Emp/DP. Alpha+1. Only stealth is IO. Not a def build - nothing more than 15-20%. How would I do the weapon/acid part of Lambda?
I can't even imagine running past 300 bosses with rocket swarms and living. -
-
Your evaluation of resist>def might be accurate if it were possible to get capped resist to virtually everything as easy as it is to do with def. To make a fairer comparison you need to look at 1resist vs 4def, which is much closer to the ratio you get in the actual game.
-
I was running my widow with mid 60s on all defense with just solo buffs on a team where I was normally averaging 80-90 def with team buffs. It was like playing naked. On Lambda, at least, 80 def = 0 defense a large portion of the time.

Really handy when villain-side points you to the wrong door with the way point. Also handy if you're getting powerleveled and hit a mission you just can't sneak to.

I strongly disagree with Psylenz slotting on summon demons. First off, the heal will really only help with the area heal. The ally heal will always wait until it can heal for full effect, so it will actually delay healing even if it is available until health drops lower. That increases the chance a demonling will die before the heal goes off. It's a big risk for a minimal gain in efficiency.
Secondly, there are 3 IOs with end reduction that all only affect a small portion of your powers. The end red in the heal will only help with the heals and the end red in the pet damage will only help with powers that do damage. Those pets are only getting the effect of 2/3 of 1 IO on any given power at the cost of using 3 different IOs.
You're better off sticking a single common level 50 end reduction IO in there and maybe keeping the pat damage mixed one (since you will use the damage powers more often). That gives you 1 full IO at 40ish % for all powers and around 70% for attacks - compared to his 30-something% for everything.
For an expensive slotting of demons, stick in 2 hamis with resist and end reduction and one common IO resist damage if you want to max that, but switch that to a damaging proc or anything else you want. Then fill up with acc/damage hamis or acc/damage pet damage set singles.
For cheaper. 1 50 common end reduction, 1 common resist damage, 1 acc/dam, 1/acc/dam from a different set, 1 acc/dam/end red, +1 whatever, but I recommend more resist damage to take advantage of those shields.
Also, his prince will run out of end 9 seconds into any fight. You basically have to have a Common IO end red in the prince or he will not function. -
Quote:This is such a load. You're trying to be dismissive of people by accusing them of impatience, but it's the people who must have it right now who are going to have no problem running multiple trials. Those are already the people grinding purple drops.^^This. You don't have to grind. If you HAVE TO HAVE the new shiney now, then grinding is purely your own choice on the matter.
The people who are patient and willing to wait will be screwed just as hard (and most likely harder) by the way it works. People who play less will play taskforces less. They will need to rely more on shard drops and eat more of the money sync surcharge for converting them. The people who play less aggressively and possibly play one TF a week are looking at half a year of little to no variety - per character.
If you're already doing 13 TFs in an afternoon, then it's no more grindy than your normal mode of play. If you're a casual player, then this is monotony made flesh. -
