The other enhancements you can buy can only be claimed once, but until you claim them, they are not tied to any character. If you know you will want them on a future character, buy them while they are on sale and don't claim them until you make the new character.
You might get screwed if you change your mind about the character, but if not, you won't lose anything. -
If you had done either of those, then you should have gotten a merit from the SSA. The only way to complete 10+alignment without reinforcing is to change sides. If you change sides, you don't get the 50 merits OR the alignments merit. So, if you got the 50 or the alignment merit, then you should also get one from the SSA.

And a lower damage base and no rage.

Quote:Mako's isn't great, but ToD is the easiest way to get melee positional defense on a melee character, and the proc is the only non-purple way to get a non-s/l damage proc on a single target melee attack for a scrapper or stalker. A full set, pre-crafted (as these are) will run you 50 million in the game. It's beyond me how anyone can buy some IOs that aren't even worth putting on the market because they're crap anyway.
Depending on price, they might not be a great deal, but to call that crap demonstrates a vast misunderstanding of this game and the resources available to most players. -
A power unused is a useless power. Anything that causes a power to be used less makes it less powerful. You can discuss theoretical power balance all you want, but it's meaningless in the face of real, functional power balance. And SB adds more, consistent bonus with the ability to turn off the movement portion than it ever could with 1/3 of the people refusing to accept the buff.

Quote:Yet, team-heavy people get to do all of that content as well. It's not like you get to choose to either do the open world, content that allows soloing and small groups OR the specific large group mission, but instead you have one group that can do all the content, and another that does not get access to a big chunk of it.Yeah I hate how they've gated hunting Winter Lords in Paragon and the Rogue Isles and the Ski Chalet and Father Time behind the LFG with those huge team sizes. Must be terrible to not get to play in any kind of Winter event because of being forced to team for it.

Quote:And that in what way changes the fact that it was a large buff to the power, which you earlier said it was not?The reason they allowed the speed boost movement toggle was so that they could make it a taoe buff. I don't think we have any reason to assume that they would have added Null if they hadn't been planning on that giant QoL improvement for ally buffs in general.

Quote:This map is the reason all my characters have "no speed runs" in their LFG message. You would think there was a time limit on the mission.1. ITF that was advertised as a shard/xp run.. now to me, and the vast majority of the players I know, that means non speed. Not necessarily a kill all but definately a kill most and definately not taking the usual shortcuts a speed run entails... Mission one is sort of hard to speed through and went normally but on mission two the tank and 2 brutes were very quickly half way through the map taking out crystals and not defeating anything they didnt have to to finish.

I have no data on which to base that.
With the exception of SS for the stealth and teleport for Stone tanks/brutes, travel powers are essentially vanity powers. Something that looks cool, but does not contribute to effectively playing the game.
Taking a travel power is an opportunity cost with no gain other than "cool", so I would be largely surprised if skipping travel powers was not fairly common among people who care primarily about effectiveness. Add to that "roleplayers" playing the vast array of basically normal people with powers (your batmen and gadgeteers types), and I'd be really surprised if the people taking no travel power was a particular small group. -
Quote:If it is only for you and not for others to read, why would it need to be in the game at all?Check. OK, now how do I attach this to my character so I can access it from inside the game without having to remember where on which of my hard drives I put it?
I also have bios for my characters that I don't care if anyone reads - so I don't bother typing them out and they stay in my head.
What do you gain by typing out a bio and linking it to a character inside the game, if it is NOT there so others can read it? -

Quote:How do you get from people working together towards a common goal to "self-loathing, appalling"?The difference, rsclark, is that some people are asking for the removal of a big part of the game. By the logic you're using, we can either have vindictive, hateful teams that have more options or self-loathing, appalling teams that have fewer options. Of those two appealing options I choose the former, particularly since it's how the game has always worked and it doesn't require any changes.
-
All those people in groups who used to request NOT to be speed boosted now no longer request that. Because of that, they attack faster and have more end. The change had a major affect on game balance.

Quote:START>All Programs>NotepadAs far as I'm concerned, it is solely for myself. If people want to random-read my bio, great. If they don't, meh. If someone specifically wants to know what my character is about, he'll read it one way or another, and if someone doesn't care, he won't read it at all.
Again, who's going to read a bio has no relevance to a character owner who is not interested reader traffic. -
Quote:Using knockback already does that to other players.Of course, I'm wholly opposed to having ANY kind of "disable knockback" option in the game. For reasons this thread easily demonstrates. If I have to turn off my knockback, I get to pick a power YOU can't use while you're teamed with me. Deal? Thought not.
So, your vindictive, worse case scenario is an exact mirror of the way the game is now - with KB players being able to negate the powers of other players. It's like you're only willing to give up your current way of disrupting a group if you're granted some other way of disrupting the group. -
Quote:You would be wrong. If I do choose a travel power, it is at level 49 and used as a mule for winter's gift slow resist on melee characters. You will have to explain that one to me, since nothing that is possible now would be impossible under this scheme except the character that has Hasten, Combat Jump, Recall Friend and Hover and no true movement power. Forgive me if I don't believe that covers 90% of your characters
Quote:If you are currently using Beast Run or Ninja Run as your main movement power, you would loose one power selection but you would gain the ability to slot it. -

Quote:Exactly. The only forced solo content in the game is in Praetoria. And while I understand why they did it, I would gladly advocate raising it to something sensible if they could find a way without pissing people off.Well, technically, I'm not whining about the large group content as such, but the lack of small group options for said content. If someone wanted the maximum to be raised to 100 players, I'd support them. You want large groups? Fill your boots. I want small groups to be availabe AS WELL. Sux to be me, eh?
Similarly, plenty of people were pissed at the min 4/max 4 Halloween event - and most of us disliked the max 4 just as much as the min 4. -
