  1. Maybe this will help, this is my elec/ice build with perma-hoarfrost. I did not pick up some utilities so that I could pick up a couple of ranged powers for varied set bonuses (the positron blast and decimation to be specific).

    I'm sure you could take something away from this...I do have a +3% Glad Armor, but only because they're so cheap now (relative to their former cost, due to converters you can snag one <400 Mil).

  2. Recently got an Elec/Ice to 50 and I have some insights on the character.

    Firstly, electrical benefits from the change in a different way than many of the other powersets. Without Assassin's Strike, single target dps is below all the other pools. The AS buff brought single target burst back into the game for electric, which really rounds out its profile.

    I coupled with ice for maximum survivability, and it has meshed pleasantly well. I sometimes wonder if WP would have been a wiser decision. I'll elaborate more on that if you wish.


    Electric's playstyle breaks down as follows, at least for me:

    Build Up
    Lightning Rod into middle of group (This doesnt break hide)
    Thunder Strike (Striker's Guile Proc is here)
    AS the closest boss (From hide if above procs)
    Then I use the other attacks as fillers until TS and AS come back up.

    The playstyle is a bit stifled. If you're in a very quick group, your cooldowns might not recover in time for a seamless playstyle. When the cooldowns are up, you can level a group effortlessly.

    Why Stealth?

    Permafrost is skipable, I didn't but it is.

    Have fun, it's an underappreciated set I must say....
    I opted away from energy absorption and chilling embrace to pick up two APP powers. The only reason I got those APP powers was to expand my slotting capabilities....no melee sets offer above +5% rchg.

    Stealth because it stacks and is a quick source of 2-3% defense at level 50. I need it to be softcapped (even with the combat penalty).

    I did not consider dropping permafrost, but now that you mention it, it rarely comes in handy and is more of a slot mule.

    I will work on this some and post again. It may be worth noting that I specced into this build this morning and it's working pretty good. Definitely sturdy, and the damage is nice as well. Only 7s off of perma hasten and S/L and E/N capped with no purples (although I do I have a glad armor).

    Endurance is a slight issue, even with the massive amounts of performance shifters in that build. Dropping permafrost for energy absorption should be a positive.
  4. I was able to snag the PvP IO's for cheap today due to converters coming out. Purples are still out of my price range at the moment. Please help me squeeze the last bit of mojo out of this build.

    S/L Capped, E/N is at 44% or so, and hasten is 7 or 8 seconds off of perma. I'm not sure how to pull any more out of this build without purples, but advice is more than welcome.

  5. A moderate expense build. I originally was going budget, but with the converter changes I was able to snag up a +3% Def Glad Armor, a panacea proc, and a fury of the gladiator proc.

    I am working toward purple sets right now, but they are still out of the picture budget wise. I tried to squeeze as much out of the build as possible; therefore, I did not take a travel power. I am not totally opposed to the idea of them, but I'm more willing to buy Ninja Run.

    Please help me clean up and optimize this build!

  6. Most dominators slot their ATO's in their single target hold. It has good utility and short cooldown. You have to keep the cooldown short to keep the stacks up on the proc.

  10. Dark/Psi was the first character that I took seriously when I started playing. Got him to level 40 or so, and experienced the same thing that you did. I never got him to level 50.

    I'm sure the combination has its merits and is likely viable once you're 50 and IO'd out. Dark is a strong primary that plays more like a blaster/controller and less like a defender.

    I enjoyed other characters I played later more than my Dark/Psi, though. I think if you're looking to start something new now is the perfect time (double XP). You might also consider a corruptor.
  11. Would love some critique on this moderately budgeted (no epics) IO build. Was going for a more damage oriented approach, with as close to the ranged defense cap I could get (with a good heap of S/L) so I could safely hover and blast. This is my first polished (and from scratch) build in a very long time, so I'd appreciate any constructive feedback.

    It may be worth mentioning that I prefer to be able to easily solo if necessary, thus the defensive build.
