    All Things Art

before we get started, because i will happily ask some questions and make some suggestions, but what would you say the relation of this thread to jay's costume request thread is, do you guys still check that one or would this be a more productive place to make a suggestion? thanks in advance.

oh and to get the ball rolling, one question on many people's minds is if we will ever get proper bushy tails for a fox or werewolf type player. a suggestion has been that even without going crazy with the hair, it might be really hard to render well, co's bushy tail does have a decidedly cartoonish look, versus the more "realistic reptilian and finned tails, so this may support that bushy tails are just hard to make in an artistically consistent manner, so whats the word my man?
    infeasible?
didnt know there was a demand?
    soon (tm)?
    or smile knowingly?

next question, back options, we have some, with wings and capes, but one thing a lot of us woudl like are backpacks, even moreso if we could wear chest emblems on our back, similar to how a karate gi or biker jacked has them. are things like backpacks, inactive rocket packs and nonmoving tech wingie things a considered possibility?
is it still a rigging issue with adjustable sized characters?
    soon(tm)
    or smile knowingly?

also, can we get some fish fins, i have some mer-themed guys and id just really like some real fins, not those triangular things.. again i ask for the word.
    no, you freak!
    soon(tm)?
or smile nervously while calling the police?

heh, i have dealt with teenagers, theya rent going to listen anyhow, jsut go for it. if by some freak of probibility the teenager is actually listening, it is a teachable moment about how you came to the decision of the value of your purchase after making sure you were fully informed about the amenities of pre-ordering and made a value decision that relative to the enjoyment you could expect from the purchase...well ok the kid would have zoned out by the word fully...but you did wait to make your purchase till you had a clear view of a feature that would make it worth the difference in price, so it really is more responsible than..say.. a certain dragon who bought it within 3 minutes of them posting the link

heh, someone just gave me a horrible idea, expect to see it when i get home from work. chase arcanum should already be shivering.
  6. you know, i thought it was going to be tails. lets face it, i'm the dragon guy, right? well, that is good, separating tails meant that i finally could have martial arts robes with tails(thematically important for rian..and something i have wanted since issue 4) but as a qol thing, i tend to like to stack missions, so the new 7 slots thing is appreciated. and since i like playing defenders, the additional soloing oomph is pretty welcome too. i have about 5 defenders who are really loving the change for when my friends are attending to life and i dont have the temper for pugging.
  7. hey, the more the merrier. either it will push it as a priority, or at least dave will let us know why not, either way, its all good in the hood. i will suspect marcian is with us too unless he pops up and registers dissent.

i would liek to second this question as well, as this is a good one. to me the demand for a huge female would be at elast somewhat addressed by allowing the physique bar make their arms and legs appear more muscular, rather than just thickening the body, and adding a muscular pattern to tights, and, ideally, a number of the tights with skin options. i realize this may mean some extra work, but id jsut like to see the female character's biceps and triceps get larger, as well as growing the caps on their shoulders when i up the slider. not gigantic, but defined in the vein as she hulk. she is mostly do-able here(poor choice of words? or exactly right?) but the lack of size in her arms and legs hurts the physique. and of course, if i could get some defined arms, shoulders, back and abdominals, well all the better. for muscular im going with rachel mclish(ms Olympia, also from iron eagles 3) type look, or a slightly thicker cammy, from street fighter 2 check for pics at your leisure. I learned the hard way, do not look for explanatory pics of female bodybuilders without setting safe search first..shudder...

oh and i double checked, physique does not add definition of female quadriceps on the legs, nor the caps on their lats when i move the shoulders slider..is this possible with the current models? or are we in glove hands territory. could this be addressed pweeze?

ditto, add guilty gear and balzblue on those as well, though with the death of arcades and my pathetic internet speed, i havent gotten to do any competitive blazblue play. so a good player woudl toss me over the coals, but gg xx# relaod, that i can give some fights with.

thank you, i was looking for the info on paragonwiki for the initial launch price, got nothing. I only got the regular one because..well, my job paid a good bit less back then. but couldnt remember what the launch price was. surprised lemur or zombie didnt help me out there, they usually are the detail guys.
  13. it is funny, but while as a melee heavy player, i understand the aversion people have to knockback(especially as a stalker..one more ruined assassin strike and im going to scream) it does look so damn cool that it just feels powerful. when i finish an enemy with crane kick, and i knock him across the room, that just puts the exclamation point on the BAM.

heck, i was driving myself nuts last night with my claws stalker in the arachnos wedding cake base, because focus kept knocking enemies off the ledges but not finishing them, but it still looked cool enough that i didnt change my chain to something that wouldn't raise my blood pressure.
  14. ma/sr scrapper. it is just fun. dragons tail pops up groups of enemies like popcorn, crane launches enemies enjoyably, and the eagle's claw when it crits with a focused ki, its wonderful.

redside, it is a plant/thorns dominator. throwing out a full blast of carrion creepers, vines and stranglers with domination and watching the spawn in front of you into a forest(ofter throwing seeds of confusion out and turining their alpha on themselves, of course).
  15. [QUOTE=British Battler;2809618][QUOTE]There are two different ways to get the City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion: as a separate expansion, or as part of the Complete Collection.

The separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion costs $29.99 (€19.99 / £17.99) and requires you to already have City of Heroes. The separate expansion doesn’t include game time, so you must be an active subscriber to play. The separate expansion does not include the Complete Collection Item Pack. The separate expansion will only be available digitally, and will be available for prepurchase starting in March (see below for more information on what you get from prepurchasing this separate expansion).

The City of Heroes Going Rogue: Complete Collection costs $39.99 (€29.99 / £26.99) and includes City of Heroes Going Rogue as well as City of Heroes, City of Villains, 30 days of game time, and the Complete Collection Item Pack. With the game time and previous expansions included, it is ideal for those who are new to City of Heroes franchise (perhaps as a gift!), but also a good value for players not interested in prepurchasing. The Complete Collection will be available both digitally and at retail (in North America) starting in July and cannot be prepurchased (only the separate expansion can be prepurchased).

Starting at launch in July, players who prepurchased or bought just the separate City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion will be able to upgrade to the Complete Collection. The upgrade will include the Complete Collection Item Pack, but it won’t include any game time.

First off, sorry, but I have no idea how to multi quote differant posts, but cutting and pasting I'm ok with, so I just cut and pasted the above from the ways to get GR, which In sure your all familiar with.

As you see, it's only the pre purchase thats $29.99, the full game expansion is $10 more. Now if that's not a full game price I din't know what is, but you will be able to ungrade GR to the full version if you pre purchased, you just wont get a months free gaming. I'm sure that people created a few threads about the bonus gametime and pack ammounting to more than $10 somewhere, I could be wrong. So whilst I agree with you, anyone who wanted Pistols and Demons NOW!! are going to be paying a cheaper price now if they don't upgrade later, the actual Going Rogue retailing at launch is comparable to a full game.
to correect this. 30 is for the fullgame, the "complete" edition is with two additional costume sets(alpha and omega), new auras and a few other extras, it is more comparable to a collectors edition or an additional booster pack. the 30 dollar version is the full version of gr. the full version of cov was either 50 or 60 dollars(with the collectors edition being more), i dont recall exactly, though that still is a difference of at least 20 dollars, or 5 slots purchased. that is what i am basing it on.
  16. while the freedom of the character creator is definitely the star of the show, id say that in my opinion, the character combination that i think of the most with coh as highlighting our unique strengths would be an energy/energy blaster. iconic power blasts, the oh so satisfying knockback that viscerally illustrates when you have slammed an enemy into next week, and the madness of a fully boosted nova. it isnt my main, nor even my second tier personally, due to my love of melee, but if i were to see a "iconic" coh character, that is what would come to mind.

    It was pointless.
robo, im going to be polite here, but you are just being overly dramatic about this. as i said, this is about as much in line with information as past q and a sessions, if YOU found nothing of value, do not assume none of us did. part of the reason for the closeness of the community to the developers is that we do see their more human sides as well, so yeah silly questions like the vodka one was just that, a little communtiy nod, if there had been a better question that they could have answered with what they are allowed to say now, the likely would have but there wasnt. please try to be rational here. and maybe you could toss around the term stupid a bit less, it can come back at you.

well, since you said entire playerbase, i can reassure you. of my 30+heroes, none are going vigilante, so there you go, the entire playerbase isnt going vigilante, problem solved, have a cookie

we got one, the developers didnt answer questions for things that they didnt have an answer to, and they didnt answer questions with the answers that people wanted to hear, but they reflected the reality of the game. we rarely get major info in these(usually we get less, the spears answer, the revelation of epic/patron changing, and the tentative release window for the mutant pack, the moral switch timer, and how many bleeding slots we are getting, as well as the future of boosters were information) so this was not out of line with usual q and a's. particularly with ww giving a "state of the game " address next week. yeah the release date and powers question were poorly chosen, but otherwise it was a standard q and a, teasing, not revealing.

You have decided it's fair, and that's it. As for bringing in Straw man arguments, well thanks for that, didn't have a clue what you were on about, I would call that an over reaction ans maybe a tad sensitive. But it has proved to me the lengths you will go to and ignore any discussion about it just to try and rubbish someone else. Any arguments and discussion put forward do not seem to matter at all if it does not conform to your view point, as any little bits will just be quoted and rounded on anyway. I maybe should have put some and bin the post to lighten it up a bit, but then again, I don't think that would have mattered really.

Overall, we both must like this game, otherwise we still wouldn't be around playing it after so long, but 2 slots is what we got with an issue when they expanded the overall slots to 36 and brought out the VEATS (think it was the same time), so just 2 when we have a Gamechanging product like Going Rogue seems to do it a diservice, as many people have filled all there slots with charaxters already, might be only able to afford the new release at the time and want to play more that 2 new characters in Preatoria, heck each AT is getting a new powerset to start AND we're getting a new starting zone. With all the teaming and leveling madness, even if you have a couple of slots and play on more than 1 server with mates (RL and online) those 2 slots are not going to go far.

Maybe another free server transfer window during the 6th Anniversary Festivities could help with this, now we know what we're getting, as a lot of people only play on 1 or 2 servers mainly and may have some "Storage" slots available to place characters put out to pasture to give them room for when GR hits. Yes people knew GR was coming out, but many probably expected more than 2 tokens, and a few might have been expecting another 12 purchaseable slots with 4 or 5 with the box. For many they may have already planned what they were doing with GR, but maybe before they knew about Kinetic Melee and Elec Control, as Pistols and Demons were known about but no others so a new plan needs to be worked out. Anyway, just a few ideas and discussion points for everyone, but I probably already know the reply I will read in the morning
batt, you ignored me the first time, but cov also cost more than gr does. for base gr, it is 30 bucks usd, for cov it was full price, either 50 or 60 bucks at launch(i forget the exact amount, someone else will likely fill in that blank.), we got more because we paid more. for the difference in price you could get far more than 2 slots.
  21. that was an interesting tidbit to me as well, are they designing new pools for flipped characters, or are they going with general analogues, like tankers to brutes or scrapps to stalkers(and before anyone hops on me, i DID say general, not exact). I'm wondering if that would really work out, defenders and blasters both could have arguments made as to them being closer to corrupters, and mms really are functionally different than any blueside at, so this does lead to some interesting questions.

the other, less pressing thing was the spear/staff comment. having been part of a few discussions on the topic, i could certainly live with fudging the animations but it is interesting to have a set encompass both a cutting weapon, which should be lethal damage, and a bludgeoning weapon, which would be staves. it will be interesting to see the resolution of it, if and when it happens.
  22. cov cost more. if i may nitpick. at least at launch, big lots deals i make no claim for . Right now i'm kind of bugged that im not getting the tokens upon pre-purchase, so that i can't make a demon summoner on liberty without buying more slots when it hits on Wednesday.
  23. henestly, i understand the disappointment (the two questions for the people with answers that were clearly available to anyone who looked seemed to be a waste of their limited time to talk to the gamers directly) but with pvp and bases, if there is nothing concrete to say, what can you say? preferably that wont engage the suncommuntiy to the point of a weekend long forum bonfire? I dont pretend that that is an easy balance to strike.
  24. I will go for a gothic pack, the baron coat from the magic pack certainly added one good piece, but generally id prefer more decorative formal outfits for male and female characters with more ornate patterns on them, perhaps some new facial details with more piercings would be nice? I also have heard many people describe a Victorian pack, but i'll let them describe it better than i could.
