you dont have to be ina vg to do it, jsut have to have the leader in it. My vg has a computer, but the times i did it, it was alwasy with another vg, join a server channel, and prosper.

nice, so far i have only ever done a sara moore, and yeah, shard tf's need a major revamp, but glad it went well for you.

both they and the equely self righteous anti-authority "fight the power" brigade have had their representatives out, fortunately this thread is not about that idiocy, but just helping another player, which is a fine activity.

You done a good thing today. Yup.
Just because someone gave them bad "help" to start with doesn't mean they're irretreivably spoiled.
[/ QUOTE ]
I have yet to see how I gave them "bad" help.
I at least showed them the forums. Heck, I didn't discover them a good 3 years after I started playing. Before that, I just randomly clicked powers that I thought were cool.
I learned alot about the game after I found them.
[/ QUOTE ]
No no, I believe what's being pointed out as "bad" help here is the AE PLing.
You did fine.
[/ QUOTE ]thats how i read it too. the plers were bad help, you showed them the ropes of the game, thats good help. -
well, mng, i salute you, helping new people is how this game survives, period. i dont care how they got where they are, pl, ae winterlord, dont care, they asked for help, and my policy is to do so to the best of my abilities. good on ya. I know a while ago i met a returning player who had a dual blade brute, and nobody had explained combos to him, id like to think that i made his time in game more enjoyable, and thats really what its about. enjoy your waffles.
heck, if you teach a pl baby the game(but only if they want it, no being pushy), maybe they will enjoy it enough to play through it straight and appreciate the content next character. -
on all the ones i ran we just rush and stomp, the kooshballs tend not to be a factor.

I quess no one recalls the furvor over seeing a AE building in Croatoa durring I14 open Beta.
Oh well, such is life.
Thank you for the time...
[/ QUOTE ]not only do i recall that, but im remembering that there were some who had an issue with it in rwz too. -
first, condolences on your friend. One thing my workplace did was a fitness "challenge" where they gave you pedometers and had you write down how many fruits and veggies you ate. It was good because generally you sit for 8-10 hours while working, but getting in 10k plus steps a day and recording it for trivial prizes was fun. of course, as gamers, we take to that, because getting points recorded is part of our nature anyhow...i kept wanting to enter my initials after a particularly good week :P

ok geck, late to the party, but yes, as a lark when chase and his wife mad e a bug themed supergroup, i make a green hornet styled broadsword/wp named lady bizzybee. well, i have made bug and bug-like characters before, but over time i really came to like her, despite not caring fro broadsword's flow, well, when shields came out, she got rerolled as a broadsword/shield scrapper, still a bit squishy, but danged if i dont have fun screwing around with kind of over the top period superhero costumes, given that most of my characters really arent part of the spandex and masks type, so actually making a mask and spandex'ish hero was kind of fun. various situations came up that my friends havent played on that server much, and im not really connected to anyone on virtue, but out of pure bullheadedness, im still pugging her along.
also, i have loved the general concept of my main tanker, space robot 5, who i have rerolled several times due to concept shifts and changes in gameplay(the ability to have multiple shields up at once changed a lot when it hit), but now am actually approaching 50 with. he has existed in various forms since june of 04. -
buggered if i know, how long are they anyhow? been kind of busy lately and havent looked it up. :P

you are begging for the response that will get me in trouble, arent you?

I managed to get a really cool screenshot of Vanessa's psyche leaving the bodies of some defeated Carnies: Here
[/ QUOTE ]
Whoa, never saw that before! I may have to reset my graphics setting...
[/ QUOTE ]you have to be paying attention and at the just right angle and range to get a good look. i get a good look maybe one out of 1000 beat downs. -

at least, we had fun.
besides, at this very moment, a dom issue is threated in the city life general forums.
i dont care about doms, you go tell em
[/ QUOTE ]dude, my main red is a dom, and i have about 5, im quite happy, but that risks oftoping, so we end it there. -
but to answer angry's question directly, consolidated threads are the better of two evils. there will be repitition regardless, but with one thread its less of a spread out of the first 3 pages of main topics, all holding pretty mych synchronized arguments from the posters who feel passionatly on the subject and all generating the same feedback that one thread would have. I think you of all people have a realistic view of how much sway our feedback has, and furthermore, an understanding of how much quality that feedback really is, especially when its an issue that brings out a few posters with strong opinions on the topic.
Hell i have been part of this, when rockjaw shot his mouth off regarding villains i recall at least 4 concurrent threads where i was arguing with the exact same people, on the exact same points. did that help the situation any? no, it just put more noise from a single topic to cloud the main page and i was stupid for being baited then. multiple threads dont contribute any more than single threads, they just make the pet projects of a few vocal posters(again, including myself) appear to be affecting a far largest percentage of the community than it really is. -

You forgot their unshakable belief that what they have to say is a unique snowflake of pure reason which should get everyone's attention before it gets drowned out by the rabble on page 20.
[/ QUOTE ]
Good to see the regard you hold for your fellow players in.
[/ QUOTE ]a very good number of people justify that regard. -
usually i just beat down whoever is close with whatever is up, however with rian (my ma/sr) but a finish with crane kick or eagle's claw does have that little extra bit of spice. the loud smash of a crane or eagle just sounds like it hurt. lazer beam eyes are kind of fun too.
with dire worg(my ss/elec), if i have the convenience of not having 3 other groups trying to remove my intestines, i throw the ko blow. why win when you cna win by putting the guy in orbit.
finally, with violet, (plant/thorn dom) i like the cone melee slash, i forget its name, think its eviscerate, but it has a good sound effect for a takedown. -
i actually agree with you part. I am well aware that the term originated in muds and meant a mobile enemy, but you know, it is generally a term used to describe a group, so real world to mmo conversion can be annoying, if not actually difficult. yeah spawns is generally accepted, but it seems immersion breaking to make that kind of a naked appeal to game mechanics.

ok, well to answer your first question, the primary and secondary powersets compliment each other. a scrapper survives with his offences only because the secondary keeps him breathing to keep throwing punches. a defender works with her buffs, but if she didnt have some blasts, soloing would be impossible. so the initial answer is, playability, it works out for the leveling structure if everyone has 18 possible powers, as they level. the energy blast only guy either needs 18 energy blast options, or they are too limited in their power selections. so thats the deal, it works out that if you have say, an ice tanker with ice melee, you can consider it one power, since you control ice, or you have the option to mix it up and be a fireaura battle axer, you have those options. As for your comic examples, as others have said, they all seem to fit in the current power selections. you dont need to have your power source grant you an ability to move fast and avoid being hit, you just need to be really hard to hit, and sr fits. nightcrawler has super reflexes, thats not his mutation, hes just really fast and physically blessed to be able to dodge. same with his martial arts or swordplay, not his power, but would work within the powersets.

I don't really care if it's coming or not, but if power customization is not going to be in Going Rogue, they should say so quickly, rather than let players get their hopes up.
[/ QUOTE ]
Fat chance of that. They don't care about player disapointment. They do care about waving a carrot on a stick in front of players who think that power customization might be in Going Rogue so they'll stay subscribed longer and keep the cash flowing.
.
[/ QUOTE ]one should note that they haven't waved any carrot, they have made statements that could lead one to infer things, as we are here, but they have promised nothing. this is far from a unique thing for gaming companies to do. -

Some of us don't like having to role defenders to be dark blasters.
[/ QUOTE ]
Then don't roll them.
[/ QUOTE ]AS soon as dark blast comes to Blasters I won't have to.
[/ QUOTE ]technically you will be able to roll a dark corrupter and switch, they have dark blast and better blast damage than defenders. -
the joke was a fortnight, if i recall, so ill change it back right after i get around to looking up how long that is :P

Anyone else think that the carnies are hawt? Especially when they do that scream thing?
[/ QUOTE ]well, lets see, slender shapely women in low cut outfits that push their "assets" pretty much to their chins..nah, just not seeing it :P anyhow, hey they are one of the more "pretty" groups in the game, the shriek can be somewhat tiring when you play a scrapper though, nothing like flying into a group of carnies, slam some attacks and having your eardrums blown out by 12 slightly staggered shrieks. ghyaa. but other than that, i like the tragic story of madeline sacrificing herself for the sake of the greater good, and being made into a monster because of it, plus i love bright colors, and my lord does a group of them look cool. plus, with rian's backstory, i always like a magic themed group. -

We do, but it's not on these forums and only I have access to it.
So far, I'm not getting a lot of quality suggestions.
[/ QUOTE ]
Small wonder, as you're the only one contributing. At least you've avoided the farce that is Jay's Costume Request thread.
I always find your snarky disdain for player suggestions a comfort. If you guys have grander plans, is there any chance you'll actually be making them?
Attache
[/ QUOTE ]you missed the joke entirely, didn't you. there was no snark, if anything the joke was a self deprecating one, he was joking that he wasn't getting quality suggestions from himself. Sheesh people, do we need john kerry here to explain all our jokes? -
playing a rapper in a strip club, are we? Really ti would be funny, i could see some comic possibilities with a mastermind.
