  2. im thinking people are reading a bit too much into it to call it desperate, it seems more clever to me, go try the game, but keep up your subscription for 3 months(a time that i have had quoted to me as the average time people play mmo's) but once a number of you run through the content, you will still have a sub here. Dont see the problem. before the additional time was offered i was here till may of 10 anyhow, so a nice bonus really, and as for gr beta, well i have had my city traveler for a month now, so not particularly concerned about that one, though given my restricted time, particularly during the end of the year, im hoping that i will have time to justify it.

  4. that would be too dramatic of a change to the mechanics, some of those effects are more desireable than others, so the min-maxers would break the system too fast. beyond the procs attainable by io's i would not expect that to happen, but hey, i could be wrong.

as for jab, honestly its not horrid, id prefer the hands would go up in a standard boxing guard and then snap out the punch, but again the "raising guard" might add to the animation times and damage the system.
  5. well, they are something different. what makes them great is that now they can add more. if all ma was ever getting was those punches, id be less impressed, but i know a LOT of people wanted a punch/kick set for brawler type characters, and this is for them, and thats good. Now eventually id like to eventually see a chinese themed set of moves, and a thai set, as well as redone versions of the existing kicks to be closer to their real roots. as for super strength, i will be sprinkling ones among dire worg's sets, but since he is more of a smashy rageaholic, the original anims look a bit more his style, but with the switch in switch out anims, no worries, ill take what i want.
  6. im still bugging for a clergy day job and adding a non-denominational chapel to some part of paragon and rogue.

i figure keeping it general allows people to play it as they want, whether they are priests, rabbis, wiccans/witches or Buddhist monks.

    Comic Con Panel

The camera just adds pounds. Positron is actually a petite young woman.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Dude, you're not kidding. The problem with MY camera is when I do a lot of filming I tilt the camera sideways. When I have to use the program to turn it 90degrees to the side, omg...

I'll probably post it when it's fixed up but there was a skinny, pale young lady outside the con near the one crosswalk, with an electric violin, playing for gas money.

The film of her makes her look like she's MY weight and pregnant to boot. Seriously this girl was like a twig and I watch the video thinking "compress, compress properly... she was not like that!!"

[/ QUOTE ]photos are usually taken from poor angles. usually you see "you" in mirrors or something at a specific angle. im not a fan of being photo'd from a 45 degree or so. im not in bad shape, but my word that causes a screech of vain terror.
  8. not all powers got alternates. no alt for dragons tail.

    Weakest Combo?

    [ QUOTE ]
A long time ago, I rolled TWO Grav/En Dominators. Then I read the forums...

[/ QUOTE ]i made one as part of a semi-dare, he is actually pretty fun, lit (or energy for the squares) does a fair amount of damage, i do tend to ignore my controls and just play like a blapper, but its doable.

It's obviously an Empath that had a minor in Literature. Of COURSE he would be useless.

[/ QUOTE ]you are all dorks
i use it for lightning, electricity in more boring but also more game appropriate terms.
  11. ok, when you say a jab, yu mean both arms go up in aboxing guard and they strike out with a quick straighten and withdraw punch, like a boxing jab? if so, awesome. also for the ko blow, are the hands together, like an upward axe handle punch(from pro wrestling) also, have you seen martial arts yet?

edit, nevermind, broken be da man.

ok dire worg(ss/litbrute) is getting some of those moves, the ko blow and jab are much better, its not boxing stanced, but the jab is an actual jab.

rian is probably taking the cobra strike and cak changes. i love the axe kick, but the weird flex before delivering it made it less appealing than the punch.

I want to give rian blue eye beams too, but lets remain reasonable.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You'll be pushing levels of too much fancy at that point. I want screenies!

[/ QUOTE ]good sir, with the ability to color the "swooshes" of each of my attacks something different, i assure you that people teaming with rian, particularly when he is in holiday frostdrake costume, will be positively paralyzed with fancy. Lord recluse will feel the rainbow...and chase will play on perma-/hide

    Weakest Combo?

oh, and pk, if you dont like being a villain storywise, once gr hits, you should try a dominator and then go good, especially on teams the aoe goodness will make you grin.
  14. [ QUOTE ]
I think they won't be doing them, not because it's hard.

But because it will take extra time. And they just want to get this out and done. If they don't do them, then it's less to test and deal with.

[/ QUOTE ]well, as sm stated and repeated they do apparently want to do them, just they wont be ready when i16 hits the streets, they will likely either come in a patch or in a subsequent issue, but they apparently ARE coming, just not at i16 launch.

Anyone else see the sign that read 'Ask about the City of Heroes Guest Author program'?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I saw that on some random SDCC pic in the last couple days. I'd also like to know what it is.

[/ QUOTE ]i recall some talk when MA was coming that they were going to try to get some good comic writers to make ma missions. I was pushing to try and get Neil Gaimen, as he seems like a proper nerd who would see the capabilities of this. oh and as per the spines vid, oy gevel, i liked the third model of tons of curved spines, im hoping we get something similar with thorns too, right?

    Weakest Combo?

    [ QUOTE ]
So then you're all basically saying the IS no weak combo, just slow ones? That's not what I wanted to hear. I wanted WEAK.

[/ QUOTE ]really no, there isnt. i have commonly heard that emp/lit defenders are weak, my third 50 is seraph blue, and i soloed her a good portion of the way. things get annoying with chain mezzers like rik mentalists, but without shivans or pets, she has soloed quite a few eb's, just have to be smart, pack your insps with foresight, and know how to split the herd. Takes a whie, but in the end, she is standing with no deaths, and they are all zapped. maybe emp dark would be weak, aim is pretty much sera's damage lifeline, and if i recall, dark lacks an aim. though the to hit debuffs might help with survivability.

EDIT: if you want a challenge, go ice/emp solo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure about challenge. Controllers aren't really challenging since the control can easily eliminate the worst enemies have to offer. Definitely slow and tedious though, especially if you slot your powers for hold duration and not damage.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm talking about solo leveling speed. Yeah, it's not a challenge (as in difficulty) since ice can lock down just about anything fast. And if they're not locked down, they're at the -rech and -movement caps.

With that said, it's rough when block of ice, chillblain and brawl is your attack chain.

[/ QUOTE ]i have an ice/storm and feel your pain. it makes up for it on a team as he is pretty much king of the world then. Its not hard, per se, in fact its pretty easy because the two have great control options, but any kind of leveling speed? that princess is in another castle.

    Martial Arts

    [ QUOTE ]
Assassin's Blow is the most hilarious power name in the game. So many levels.

MA is going to be FOTM in I16 with the new animations. The replayability of the set will be very high, too (make a puncher, a kicker and a punch-kicker).

[/ QUOTE ]true, though if the animations are like the colorizations, and tied to costumes, you could theoretically make identical copies of your character and with /cc binds, you could mix up your combos pretty well. I'm quite excited for it, and hope this is only the beginning of new animations for martial arts, Maybe way down the road, adding open handed strikes(think pai chan from virtua fighter, or ling xiaoyu from tekken) and additional kicks, such as from muai thai or tight, chambered tae kwon do kicks, could help round out a character.

The big problem with a lack of customization of hero epic pools will be when "Green Fire Blaster Dude" turns on his Fire Shield and uses Char and Bonfire and they are still ordinary orange flames... or when "Pink Ice Controller Girl" is stuck with a blue Ice Blast or Hibernate bubble.
It is really going to break up the theme and the look of many characters. Patron pools won't be as much of an issue because they are so unique and most of them don't really match up with primary powersets like the hero pools do...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Man I'm slow these days. That rather serious problem should have been obvious, yet it flew right over my head. Yeah, most pool and Patron powers may be designed to be visually different, but a lot of Epics actually look like extensions of the character's own powersets. Without customization to them, there really isn't any point to changing certain powersets at all, at least from my perspective.

I have a planned Fire/Fire/Pyre Blaster. If I can change the colours of Fire/Fire, but not of Pyre, then I won't be "able" to change anything at all. Let's hope for this in the very near future. I'd sooner have this than more animations, if that were ever a meaningful choice.

[/ QUOTE ]I think thats a bit of an extreme position to take, but remember that this is jsut what they are shooting for for issue 16, most likely the others will be done thereafter, either in another issue or just a nice patch , as was heavily implied in sm's post. there is no reason to get too specific in equine dentistry here, the main powersets were a lot of work, and undoubtedly more work is continuing. I want to give rian blue eye beams too, but lets remain reasonable.
  20. to be more specific, pvp tends to be much more dynamic than regular content. beating an av isnt too hard once you can pump out a certain amount of damage because they wont adapt their strategies, they will generally stand there and slap-fight with you till they go down. in pvp most people that are playing now have a fairly deep understanding of how the powers work and will generally have countermeasures for specific playertypes, including using mobility to their advantage, so do not expect the same strategies to work in pvp that work on, for lack of a better word, stupid pve enemies.

I must say that there is something *very* loveable about the fact that the COH community goes bonkers (with love!) over something like this.

We really love playing dress-up as much as we do beating down the baddies

[/ QUOTE ]heh, well, from as far back as i remember, one of the biggest selling points for this game was its extensive costume creator, and this just amplified that creative freedom by several magnitudes. lets face it, we can beat up bad guys in any free korean mmo and save the cash, but if you really want to control what you look like to the insane detail that we do, that market is pretty much only coh, that will be changing soon, but its still fairly uncommon.
  22. it wont be a drop kick..beyond that i promise nothing.
  23. i would love to see energy/freeze "guns" for science/tech blasters or wands for magic themed ones, emanations are really the only thing that i want thats not being done, and it certainly seems like babs has made sure the new system is very flexable.
  24. operating system, like windows xp, vista, that sort of thing.

My favorite review was from Penny Arcade. It was a combo CoH WoW article that stated, "while WoW takes traditional MMOs and says, 'let me show you a better way', City of Heroes says, 'you know what? %#$@ dragons.'"

[/ QUOTE ]ironic for me, i'nt it i like that coh says, you ARE a dragon.
