summary of info:
Wow so I'm not even sure where to start there was a ton of awesome new information at the panel so i'm going to go with bullet points:
Issue 19 is going to introduce the Incarnate system to the game. There will be 10 new levels and new powers to choose from as part of that system. We'll get a taste of it in Going Rogue. Going rogue will also be required to access the incarnate system in I19
Super groups will not be able to change alignment or switch sides. When a character goes from one side to the other they become a ghost in their SG and lose access to the base. Its unclear if characters will be able to be in both a SG and a VG.
When you switch sides you can gain access to the ancilliary/patron powers on the side of the game you switch too. IE Brutes can take ancilliary powers and a scrapper can get patron powers if they completely switch sides.
There are two new powersets being added with Going Rogue, Kinetic melee and Electric Control.
i17 closed beta for friends and family starts next week.
The video for Demon Summoning we saw will be added to the Going Rogue website on Monday, so keep an eye out!
You have to reach level 20 before you can switch sides.
Going Rogue has 4 new zones: nova praetoria, imperial city, neutropolis, the underground.
Dopplegangers in i17 will be an imperfect version of our character or team in certain missions.
The defender inherent is getting a revamp in i17. It will be a dmg buff that will help defendres solo better and perform better in small groups.
The existing Praetoria storylines won't see and update until probably i19
You will need to run both halves of the new positron task force in order to get task force commander if you do not already have the badge for the Task Force. -
Quote:Thanks, also seems they finally fixed the images in this thread as well.they aren't showing up for me either, but you can see them in the 2009 Hero Con Wentworths thread:

I'm out of town so it may be my netbook or the connection here, but um... are the images of things you can buy not loading for anyone else?
I want to RSVP with things me or Negumi will buy but I can't see them. =( -

Quote:My computer takes that as a direct challenge. I'm fairly confident my rig can handle Ultra mode with some power to spare. On Twitter, Positron said a bit ago that he doesn't think any computer can handle ALL of Ultra Mode. Seems to imply that you can toggle some features and will have to choose.
In time, when computer parts become cheaper, full Ultra Mode will become more common place. This is a long term plan they have. If they planned specifically for just today, their hard work of updating the graphics would be irrelevant a month from now. -
I dunno, its listed in the GR info from Herocon thread. I didn't make it to HeroCon unfortunately.

Quote:It was mentioned in the Hero Con info for Going Rogue that we would be able to trade inspirations cross faction, soon.So what you are saying is that in a database somewhere every enhancement, every inspiration, every recipe exists twice. Once as a heroic version once as a villainous version. This means that Vigilantes and Rogues can't trade between each other and their opposite number even if they are running missions with them.
So now that factions don't really matter because we can switch sides we still can't trade inspirations to revive a fallen teammate. -
Quote:>_> what exactly are you talking about?yes thats really on topic
There is indeed a lack of participation with villains -- not to mention once the raid itself starts is quite different and more uhh bumpy than a blue side raid...But I do wish more people to join up
*can't wait to get his blueside toons in the Abyss*
The last several raids I went to were smooth as hell even with only 30 people to start red side and generally filled by 6 on Sundays. The leaders and regulars do a bang up job. But honestly give me a red side raid over a blue side one any day, they're actually "fun".
And keep your stinky heroes in the hive, k thx.
That said, weekdays don't work for me, so I don't come to Tuesday raids unfortunately. What happens when you're old and have responsibilities.
But props to the people who have remained dedicated to running these. They really do a bang up job red side and I got agree they don't bring the drama like I've seen elsewhere. *cough* -
Quote:Well I'm going to guess (and yes this is just my opinion) that we haven't gotten a content laden issue in awhile primarily because of the work on GR. Though we have gotten content. You know what. I just paid for two accounts for an entire year. I plan on getting every penny out of my subscription fees. If you dont want to read what I type, YOU KNOW already that there is an IGNORE function on these forums.
Like all of you, I am allowed to express my feelings on whatever thread I wonder into.
I was expecting more from Issue 17 because we havent gotten a really Great issue in a long freakin time.
edit: You keep saying take a break. I HAVE been on break from doing anything in this game for over a year. Waiting for new dev created content... waiting and waiting for something new to do, a new path to 50... been waiting and waiting, happily buying all their little packs on multiple accounts, "Supporting the game"...
I personally love dev content (long as its not hero side and low level *shudder*) but its not the meat of the game for me. I get a lot out of RP and doing my own stories, AE was a gigantic boost for me for that.
Its just perspective, all of us want something different from the game.
Not sure if you RP but you could look at getting into a story driven SG that does solid AE arcs and in game stories/writing. That might sate some of the content urge for moar new stuff. Not canon but it can be fun. -
Quote:This, really Pain I've been there and I took a couple months break (though I didn't unsub), and came back. I even now periodically take mini breaks. If the game has gotten boring there probably isn't any amount of new stuff to keep you excited for long. And you really, honest to god wonder why people have a go at you for being whiney and depressing to read?
Seriously. Take a break from the game. Log off and don't come back until GR releases, if you're that bored of it. Then, if you come back and it's still 'boring'...well, maybe your playing the wrong game? Has it never occured that maybe other people don't necessarily have to have the exact same opinion as you?
Take a break, play something else, I generally go for single player stuff myself, and come back when you've got that urge again to play. -
Quote:Oh the humanity, a hero side TF might not be a slog anymore and worth a ridiculous amount of merits for it. >_>*SQUEEEEEEEEEEE*!!
I have pastiche toons in the old "bunny outfits" these will look great on.
Ambivalent about the new Posi TF. Hopefully it remains 66 Merits and doesn't get decreased to 40-42, it's still a massive slog even with the new addons (haven't seen them but...).
Great to hear about the Silver Mantis TF and Market engine improvements yay!
Also, did I hear we could now do our own inf transfers? Oooh same server transfers, not a bad start. Wish I could do them across servers though, maybe later?
Good stuff.
Vill SFs may be less merits but there is something they have that the vast majority of TFs don't. They're fun. -
Quote:>_> Oh god I hope not. Fighting a Boss version of my Kat/Regen scrapper was rough enough in AE. And it didn't even have her fear powers from Presence. So, I'm guessing that the Dark Mirror enemy is your Praetorian self that will have your powersets and maybe even copy your character costume.
Zombie Man's not worried, he's defeated Nosferatu, so, he can defeat 'himself.'
And I won't go into the SS/NRg or SS/WP brutes it was just wrong. -
Wow, I...
Wow.
I echo the sentiment we're getting this all with i17 what haven't they told us about Going Rogue? -
Quote:This has been the bane of my existence for about 6 - 7 months now. I love running big stories but I'm just bogged down with work. But lately it really feels like I have to drag people kicking and screaming into RP/Stories.Ye gods, QFT! I think this bugs me only slightly less than people who sit in an RP coalition global channel complaining that they can't find RP when they're in a chat full of nothing but RPers, but for whatever inexplicable reason they won't pursue a lick of IC interaction with the people who are right there looking for the same damn thing.
But again I assuming its the general sort of pre-issue/expansion malaise that has no one interested in doing anything.
As for Cross Server stuff I was never involved in those but I was involved in a couple massive server wide stories that involved large groups of people. It was a bit of a pain to organize and cat herd but oh so worth it!
I just wish I had time lately -
Going to have a couple SCORPIO people at the Meet & Greet, though i think I'm the only one going to PAX itself.
-
Its also a ninja device thus it fits with the Martial arts "theme" like blinding powder and smoke bomb.
I have no issue with powers that are thematic myself, a few people have recommended decent alternatives though. Like a perception/to-hit auto power, or a minor version of quickness. -
Quote:Wasn't ultra mode announced as being part of i17? I just checked it wasThis is what my husband just said to me not 3 minutes ago.
"So, how long is it going to take for Ultra Mode to come out? Like another month or so? And then we have to wait til July to even use it? I think something went wrong in their timeline, on releasing stuff. Port Oaks might look prettier but its the same exact missions you hate now."
I don't think he wants me to get the pre purchase, I think he wants me to just get to boxed sets in July. From what I can tell, he doesn't even plan on playing til July. So that is 4 months *I wish you would have told me that before I resubbed us for a year* down the drain.
I want to support this game financially as much as possible. It is to me the best MMO out there, Hows about some new info on what is coming in Issue 17?
So i17 is new content, new emotes, UI updates, Mission Architect updates, a nebulous Doppleganger thing that was mentioned and more.
Enough to keep subbed and interested. -
Quote:Well and I read that the panels were only very recently approved. So its possible they couldn't tell us because they simply didn't know if the panel was going to be approved or not.Well, they do have a track record of excellent cons, and for the most part the gaming is the attraction, not the exhibitors or panels.
I also get the feeling that the PAX organizers are a little more loosey goosey than more established cons (Gen Con, Dragon Con, etc.). As mentioned above, they run PAX Prime the same way...
I'm a little surprised at all the complaining here. This is the first major appearance of the devs on the East Cost, and you don't need PAX tickets to go to the Meet N' Greet. The fact that PAX East is sold out might be the only reason why they're coming, so it's tough to fault them for not announcing it sooner. -
I have a three day pass to PAX East and I will be twittering it.
@Ransim
I'll also be sharing bits on the forums for my SG http://www.agentsofscorpio.com, checking there to see if there are any games people want me to check out for them.
Quote:Tickets for Saturday and the three day passes are sold out. However the Meet & Greet is open to everyone. Before you get too excited about this, intending to go - read more after the original announcement - I'm a little confused about ticket availability...people are saying tix are sold out on Saturday, but others are saying the meet-n-greet will be held outside the venue somewhere.
Any clarification would be welcome? -
I attempted to read through all of this and failed.
Am I the only one that saw the announcement and went huh, so I guess they don't have a way of issuing two keys for the collectors edition and they don't want people to be able to unlock the new content until GR goes live or to cause a system issue unlocking content that isn't there.
But maybe thats because I'm a developer too and I understand what happens when you're limited in a system. Marketing probably figured its easier to just only pre-sell the one that isn't attached to the collector edition items rather then put two keys in one pack.
But thats just my guess. I think I'll just wait patiently till July and enjoy the new sets on test. -
Quote:Thats normal, even for PAX in Seattle. Schedules don't normally go up till 6 weeks prior at a minimum. I also imagine they're a bit slammed now with the extra attention since its now sold out.Oddly, PAX 3 daypasses sold out 2 weeks ago and there's still no schedule or exhibitor's listing.
A bunch of stuff however was announced:
