Masked does good work, you guys should definitely put it in as a feature nomination when you get it finished up. We need more super group and story nominations.
-
Just a heads up, the 3 day passes for PAX are sold out and they're running out of Saturday passes now. So if you do not have your Saturday pass and plan to go I HIGHLY suggest purchasing it right now.

Quote:Part of the problem is there is just a large amount of people on Virtue. Union manages these server wide RP storylines and events but they've got a smaller group of people.Once upon a time, these things happened on Virtue, when it was a much more centralized group of RPers. I can think of at least three or four, and anyone who was on the server back in the days of The Barcodes remembers the mass effort to figure out wtf was going on.
The problem is not only the huge about of people it would take to pull of, but there would have to be a large amount of time devoted into planning, setting up, constantly just doing scenes and things to get people to notice. Assuming all this could happen, RP has largely moved away from public spaces and into SG bases and global channels, I just don't think in the state of the game as it is that you could garner enough interest for an RP server wide event.
I think a RP event based around any of the existing zone events or large group events would work, but it'll be a lot of cat herding. -

Sometimes I wonder if you guys actually check this thread, so quiet...
Looking For Contact & Recruiting Categories Reset
Please pass this news on to other users you play with or those in your super groups. Thanks!
We've removed all of the content from the Looking for Contact and Recruiting categories and have adjusted how the Looking for Contact page will display characters listed in the category. We urge all users wishing to look for contact to re-add the respective category to their character or group pages. Also be advised that these lists will be cleared out on a quarterly basis so it does not get very stale or out of date.
Also consider adding a blurb to your pages when you add them to the categories to describe who or what you're looking for, or what types of characters your group is recruiting.
Please feel free to join the discussion on this topic. -
I'm well aware of that. On average however a Barracuda FF takes longer then a Kahn TF.
-
This may not be a bug, but there doesn't seem to be any transition with beast jumping when just holding down the jump. IE you never actually "land" as if part of the animation is missing.
Can be replicated by just holding down jump and either standing still or moving forward/back. -
Quote:I actually think they're backwards by accident. I remember reading Barracuda was suppose to be 30 and Kahn 20 back during i18.I felt more insulted to realize that the Khan (much easier, no special team composition, etc), is 30 merits.
I bugged it. Its really a much more challenging fight overall and it takes longer. It really should be 30 merits. -
Quote:I'm betting on the latter, although maybe not with ill intent. Jack is a pretty generic kind of name, and I can see someone trying to make a "Jack in the Box character" using that name and not checking to see if the Jack3/4/5.jpgs were already in use. The fact that the date on those files is from October tells me that this was done before the switchover to the new server; unless Ransim has the images in some kind of archive somewhere (which is unlikely), the original images are gone.
That's the bad news.
The good news is, the files you mentioned (and includes a Jack3.jpg, too) are not presently in use by any other pages other than yours, so I see no problems with you re-uploading on top of those images. Because of the server switchover, everyone with an account on the old one needed to make a new account-so you don't have to worry about password issues; just make a new "Jack Wolfe" account (this is why I am using User:Coreth now instead of my original User:Ebon Storm). Let us know if you run into any problems getting up and running!
Yes unfortunately everything Coreth has said is fact. Everything came over from the old server -as is-, that is why we left both servers running for several months and implored users to check their content. Unfortunately I know that for some people they weren't playing or using the site so they didn't get a chance to check until now.
I will check, when I get home tonight to see if the original files are in the massive backup file I have from the old server. I cannot however make any promises. That file is not only massive (12+ GBs) but many of the archive files were corrupt because the server was too full for too long.
I'm sorry, but to some extent Wiki sites are a gentleman's contract and you have to check your own content periodically to ensure it hasn't been tampered with. I suggest using the watch feature on your pages and images, that way you will get an email if any are changed.
But give the small number of sysops on the site its just not realistic for us to check every single edit or change made.
Sorry. -

Quote:Happy to help, I added my info into my original post for people who don't have it but want to follow when the weekend comes up. I'm going to be smart this year for PAX East unlike at Prime and make sure I have an extra battery with me for my phone.Thanking you in advance, ransim, if you hold another Twitter relay. It was TREMENDOUSLY appreciated last year by those of us who could not make it to PAX East.

But I'll relay from the Panel just like last time. I have Verizon so I don't have the connection issues a lot of other people seemed to have for PAX Prime. Probably put Negami on picture duty. -
I should have twitter covered for the panel and the meet and greet. Also pictures and we can see about video.
Really looking forward to PAX East.
Editing to Add:
Twitter: Ransim
Pictures: posted on twitter through my twitpic account.
Video: Youtube
Unfortunately I can't tweet and video at the same time, but I will see about getting some video during the M&G and during PAX in general, maybe in the Panel line, last year we played Cthulu dice and zombie dice while waiting. So if someone else has a video camera you might want to do that for the panel.
I will be using the #coh hash tag during the panel and the M&G. -
Its not Black Widow its actually Domino. Its actually a picture I made by merging two pictures together.
Picture #1 is from Sex & Violence #1 and is a picture of Domino
Picture 2 is from the cover of Secret Invasion #4 and is of Nick Fury
I cobbled it together for a recent story line involving my OC Cherry 9. -
Quote:I tried to get jumping to work without much luck. Seems the jump for Beast Run either isn't there yet or using a different naming convention. If anyone figures it out I can do another demo with it.Awesome
I'll admit I was hoping there was going to be some jumping going on in that video.
But I didn't expect some Kickin Jams
Song is Suzy by Caravan Palace. They're awesome ^_^ -
Unused Images
Just a heads up guys. I'll be purging all of the unused images on UnionVerse this weekend and will continue to do this on a monthly basis starting in February during the last weekend of the month.
If you upload images to UnionVerse please ensure you use them, the site is not meant to be your image hosting service. -
Unused Images
Just a heads up guys. I've almost (with the help of a friend) managed to get the backlog of unused images cleared out. So starting in February unused images will be purged monthly during the last weekend of the month.
If you upload images to VirtueVerse please ensure you use them, the site is not meant to be your image hosting service.
Looking for Contact & Recruiting Categories
I will be purging both the "Looking for Contact" and Recruiting categories by the first weekend of February. Users will be welcome to re-add their content or the category to their page again afterward. We're looking to see these areas refreshed and are looking into a better long term solution. -
Funny that people say red side is dead for 2xp weekend. I've only been red side (part of yesterday) and got probably 20-30 levels over several characters in a few hours and never found myself wanting for a team or people to fill things when I ran SFs.
-
Also there is a whole thread just for VirtueVerse stickied at the top of the forum.

Quote:I actually prefer the look of the Isles to Paragon. Paragon looks incredibly dated on my machine.Yeah, recent stats have shown that only 26% of the game is pure villains. And I can't imagine a reason why Rogues would want to stay in RI given that Paragon is much more active and looks a bit less ugly, IMHO.
Also prefer villain side overall. But I don't use activity in the zones to keep myself occupied anyways. I have global channels for that. ^_^ -
The game is instanced so most people are probably in a instance running missions. It can also depend on the time of day. Try Pocket D, or The Rikti War Zone. Sharkhead and Cap Au Diable red side are also typically busy. Try around Wentworths.

Sadly I'm probably out for really answering anything until I can come up for air in real life. Its been a bit insane so time has been limited for me.
I know I suck. -
Quote:I'll take a look at modifying the upload page text to add a warning for people later today.*Pats Ransim*
Yeah, I know how the short on time deal feels.
No worries, it might just be worth adding a 'Warning: Check your file is the right size before submitting! Failing to upload file may be caused by this!' or something a bit better worded to the upload page till it's fixed? -
Quote:On the old wiki you got a fake error message about the file size but it didn't actually enforce it. The difference now is that the server itself is restricting it, something mediawiki doesn't do.No, because I was using one of my other Char-pic as a template to crop the screenshot off, and thus expected it to be the same size. Beforehand, 2KB didnt matter much or, at the worst, it at least came up with a pop-up saying 'This file is too big'.
Now it just fails to load as if it was something up with my net, computer or the 'Upload' button itself.
Having something explaining 'This wasnt uploaded because its too big' would have saved a lot of confusion and annoyance, is what I'm saying. 'cos I bet this won't be the last time it'll happen to anyone.
I am aware that there is no error screen right now if you try to upload something over the 151KB limit. Its on my mighty list of things to address/fix/update. But the issue comes down to this, the error is being thrown by the php server, mediawiki has no capacity to provide a true file over upload size limit error page. In fact it even seems the error message it use to show if you tried isn't in the newer versions of mediawiki or just plain doesn't work anymore. (Yes I do actually have this setting turned on)
My goal is to eventually get the error reporting in mediawiki itself to work and to get the setting just on the wiki's themselves so its not a server wide setting.
But I'm a little bit short on time lately thanks to moving and beginning year work insanity so I've only been able to do small things and maintenance bot stuff.
Sorry! Your lone admin is busy busy lately. -_-' -
Yeah but most people look at the OP. If we need a raiding guide here and not in the guide forum it should be refreshed with a new post outlining the currently used methods.
Personally speaking I check the raid schedule thread more then the guide thread. -
Really there are only a couple that aren't really valid anymore:
Virtues i9 Hamidon Raiding Guide (Hero-side) - This raiding method hasn't really been valid in ages.
Stability Issues - Also not really useful anymore
