  1. Have you tried to reset your router, i.e. switch off, wait 15 seconds and switch back on?
You could also try to bypass your router and connect directly to the net, and see if it has any effect, i.e. as a test of the router.

    Game crash???

I think your problem is related to your Intel graphics. Several people have reported problems with that.

I have 2 suggestions that might or might not work.

Update your drivers to the newest available.

Try to add -usetexenvcombine to your shortcut, so it looks something like:
    "C:\Games\City Of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -usetexenvcombine

To me it looks like lag generated from a wireless connection. In Windows 7 (as far as I know) it scans for new connections each 45 seconds. It is a sort of autoconfig.
If you wireless connected, try to see if there are any features associated with that, where you can turn off this "autoconfig". If no such feature, there are some small applications around, which can do the trick. I used one called "WLAN Optimizer" some years back on a computer with Vista.
  4. Has the alpha slot been proven working against other "level-less" foes, like in a rikti invasion?

"Level-less" foes still has a hidden level, and maybe the alpha slot are effected by that?!
  5. From your description, I would suspect it was overheating.
CoH stresses systems more than most.

Have you checked for proper airflow, i.e. no dust blocking. Canned air can be used for cleaning.
And as it is a laptop, make sure it is placed on a hard surface, so the air can flow freely.

Beside ensuring the airflow, you might check the actual temperatures of the CPU and the GPU, to verify if it seems to be related with the crashes.

As a note, I would recommend disabling "Depth of Field" and lowering "Water Reflections".
  6. I hope you will stick around.
    I enjoy your art!
  7. My guess is, it is caused by your graphic chip not being powerful enough (or the drivers not supporting it).
Have you tried starting the game in "safe mode"?
It is activated by a little check box before you log in, next to the "I agree" button. That will put your graphic settings to a minimum. If that works you can steadily try to increase the graphic settings.

You can also try to change your game client by adding " -usetexenvcombine", i.e. change it to:
    "C:\Games\City Of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -usetexenvcombine
It will use a simpler rendering path.
  8. How far in the process do you get?

You mention that you have checked your password, so does it mean that you get passed the login screen? If so, what happens after you have typed in id and password?
  9. If you use the command “/showfps 1”, you can see your framerate in game (/showfps 0, switches it off), and then you can see the effect of changing your graphic settings.

In my opinion you have your graphic settings too high for a GeForce 8700M, especially when running in such high resolution as 1920x1200.

Things I would suggest changing (while monitoring the effect on your framerate):
Depth of Field Enabled: Yes => No
(ok, I personally don't like depth of field, and it cuts hard in your framerate).
    World Detail Level (Vis_Scale): 2.000 => 1.000
It determines how far it calculate details
Water Effects: High quality => ?
Environmental Reflections: Ultra quality => ?
Those 2 I would think hit your framerate severely, but I'm not sure how much, and the setting is gain versus cost.
You might play with your shadows settings too. It can effectively hit your framerate, but is again a matter of gain versus cost.
    Maximum Particles: 50000 => 10000
Not much gain, but it's hardly visible that it is lowered, and saves some resources.

    Laptop trouble

Even though your graphic drivers are the newest available it is old, and I think it might be your problem.
It is in general a problem that laptop makers don't upgrade for newer drivers.

You can try to use "modded" drivers from Driverheaven, to get a newer driver. I did that some years back, until I changed to a desktop.

Or you can try to add the command 'usetexenvcombine' to the game startup, as in:
    "C:\Games\City Of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe" -usetexenvcombine
This should reduce the graphic requirements.

Posting the output from CoHelper will show your hardware and CoH configuration, and thereby give people a better chance to make suggestions.

Are you by any chance connected wireless?
This could potentially be your computer searching for new access-points. I know it is (was?) a problem in Vista, but don't know if it solved in Windows 7.

Anyway, my first attempt would be to reset the internet modem and router, by switching it off and on.

    Demons!

Well - technically you can argue. whether she is a demon - but she comes from Hell...
And of course you can argue, too, whether she is slutty or not

By the way, she summons demons.

    Rubberbanding

You did mention a new router, and I expect that you are connected wireless.
If so, have you tried connecting with a cable?
  16. Currently we are downloading some of the core components of I19, i.e. as a pre-download. My guess is that is what you are seeing.
It is to reduce download time when I19 goes live.
The pre-download starts when you quit the game. You don't have to wait for the pre-download to finish, as it will just continue after your next session.
  17. My primary focus ain't capes and auras - but meh... must have, now.
    Done

    The command should be "/window_resetall".
  19. I would expect that you should be able to get the default windows back by the command "/windows_resetall".
  20. I can't see any particular problems in your setup.

Did anything else happen the day the crashes started?
Like, did you install any new drivers, software, hardware, which could have effected your computer?

But having a shut-down after a period of playing, would to me indicate a potential hardware problem.
Heat (i.e. overheating) is a known problem, although that usually causes the computer to crash, not just the program.
Still, I will suggest, that you check for dust.
Then I would try to switch on "safe mode" in the startup screen. That will set all your graphics to minimum, and should therefore stress your computer less. If that gives longer time before crash (or even no crash), then it is even more likely that it is a hardware problem.
  21. Try to post the output from CoH Helper.

It will show your hardware and CoH game configuration.
  22. I think some hardware is overheating - most likely the GPU.

First, check that the fans are running.
If so try monitor the temperature of the GPU.
  23. Patch is up on test server:
