Lag Issues :(

Hi,

Starting yesterday I began having lag issues with the game. I've updated my graphics card, installed software to detect and get rid of any spyware/adware stuff. I'm not sure what else to do because after a few system reboots, I'm still having large lag spikes every minute or so in game. My internet connection is strong, so I just need some help figuring this one out.

Are you by any chance connected wireless?
This could potentially be your computer searching for new access-points. I know it is (was?) a problem in Vista, but don't know if it solved in Windows 7.

Anyway, my first attempt would be to reset the internet modem and router, by switching it off and on.

Type /netgraph 1
at the chat line. This will turn on graphing and let you see how the game connection is doing. It should be short, green lines moving across the screen. Let us know what it looks like when you get the lag and/or post a screenshot of it. Type /netgraph 0 to turn it off.

Also, is it EXACTLY every minute? Seriously, time it with a stopwatch. If it's at a regular interval, it's some device (maybe your computer, maybe something else) on a regular cycle.

This could be the problem - windows may be having problems trying to find contiguous free space.

Try first of all defragging the disk and if possible try to clear some more space - you don't really want less than about 20% free.

Been having the same since Saturday. I ran netgraph and it was mown grass at 200-225 so I think it may be server side.

The problem has been fixed. Must have been a connection issue since I am on wireless. (Also, Time Warner in my area is notorious for having cable issues :/)

Thanks for the responses!
