Long story short; Dell messed up my order and they're offering me $250 of upgrades on my new XPS 15 laptop.
My question? Which of these items, in your guys' tech-savvy opinions, would be the best "bag for my buck" in upgrades:
1) Upgrade from I5 to I7 processor. --> This will reduce battery life and increase heat dispersion. And, funny enough, the I5 they offer has a higher max (Turbo) speed than the I7..though obviously the I& has more thread and a faster response time.
2) Adding a TV Tuner or BLuRay player. I can almost both if I go this route; or I can add at least one and add the 1080P screen option.
3) Additonal Warranty - Only have the year basic and its refurbished; might be nice to add a year or two on a high-end machine like that.
WWCD? (What would Champion Do?)
Thanks in advance,

I guess the honest answer is that I'm weighing how important that last 5% really is to the team, end game.
I plan on slotting the shields (for others) to allow for max. DEF; and I team quite a bit, so team utility is definitely important to me. But I also solo quite a bit, too.
And I also feel like, with the current trend of slotting characters, most characters are slotted for at least *some* DEF already, endgame. (Most Blasters and Corrs softcap to Range and/or AoE, scrappers and stalkers are usually built on DEF; depending on their sets. Plus most have at least some DEF bonuses from their sets, even if they're not building around it.)
So, that being the case, I guess I'm trying to find a middle ground between what's best for the team and what is still good to solo with.
Are there really people that boot folks for not taking leadership? Yikes.
-------
I am not sold on the epic/patron pool. Is there, perhaps, a better pool choice for solo damage?

Quote:I was not aware of that; thank you. And thank you for the replies. Now I have to decide if I want better recharge or a cool hold. Also, you might find Dark Mastery preferable to Soul since the version of Soul Drain there has half the recharge time.
And my only hesitation in skipping hasten (speed) is that I keep thinking that 70% recharge is a lot harder to slot for than the 5% DEF and 15% DAM of Leadership...

Hello, all.
I just started up a new FF/Psi Defender; and I am having some problems deciding exactly what power pools I should take with him. So, I thought I would come to the masters and ask for some help.
I will be taking FLIGHT and MEDICINE for theme reasons, leaving me 2 remaining pools. I am choosing between Leadership, Fighting, and Hasten. My goal for this character is to softcap him (to all 3) on DEF.
Leadership Pros: +15% Damage, Group DEF, Vengence.
Leadership Cons: Less DEF makes it harder to softcap, toggles are more expensive than most.
Fighting Pros: Extra S/L RES, Better DEF on Weave to help softcapping, extra attack.
Fighting Cons: Requires 3 powers.
Hasten Pros: It makes stuff recharge fast. (I was considering building recharge around Soul Drain to help offset the lower damage for Defenders - and yes, I am aware this would require over 300% recharge)
Hasten Cons: Stuff recharges less fast.
Any help and opinions you guys can give would be very much appreciated.
Thanks,

Quote:I suggest we have this group of five lead the committee, and we call it 'The Pentaverate'
The Queen, The Vatican, The Gettys, The Rothschilds, and Colonel Sanders (before he went tits up)
Obviously, the Colonel's seat would need to be filled
Go...fine. You've stayed your hour...
(Love that movie. You know what this thread needs? A large, over-sized poster of Atlantic City...)

Quote:I respectfully disagree with (what I feel are) some implied undertones in recent replies. What if Dazz...or Cherry...or I...or "Joe Champion" DOES want this to be more than just a simple list? What if there are people who want to be more proactive and organized than just hanging another sticky on the server forum? Does that make he/she/me/we/them self-serving? From the tone of some recent replies; it would appear to be implied as such. That's where we differ. I don't think a group needs to be created, I don't think there needs to be any kind of leadership structure. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I think what would be best would be if it was just a resource.
In its simplest form, a dang ol list. People can sign up for whatever help they're willing to offer, people looking for help can contact those people.
Joe Moneybags wants to fund events but doesn't care to run them, he can sign up as a potential source of funds. Exciteypants McGiddy loves running events but is poor, he can talk to Joe. Creative John (parents not quite so creative) is broke and too shy to run events, he can approach McGiddy for help running it and Joe for cash.
No committees, no leadership, just a resource for the server. That's all it needs to be, given your stated goal in the OP. Whether what you want it to be something else is another matter.
I see that as community-serving; so I hope there is room for differences of opinion, here. I know that I prefer to make things happen; rather than wait around for circumstance (waiting for the right benefactor to sign up, a date to work between many involved parties, etc.).
I also have concerns about how a "simple list" would function, in application. If people want to donate funds, it has to be tracked by somebody, right? "You can use google spreadsheets!", you say? Good point. But then, who holds all the funds?
"Nobody does! People list as "Willing to Donate" and then people who want to throw events can pitch their ideas!". Another good idea; except that the reality of this situation would predicate everyone needing to post every event months in advance; and everyone who signed up to donate or judge would have to attend the day of, or the event would be short prizes or judges (because if they gave their money or votes ahead of time we're back to somebody having to hold it or count it).
And what of disagreements in a simple list event? Who is the tie-breaker; the public? A popularity contest to decide who wins and who doesn't? I see cause for concern there,as well.
Before this post hits "text wall" status; my point is, simply, that I think loose organization is not always such a bad thing. I also feel it can help things get done with speed, regularity, and organization. It's not about whose name goes on it; its just about organization and result.
I'm not correct; I'm just sharing my thoughts.

Looking for:
1) Star Force
2) Star-Force
3) Zen
4) Hex
5) Prodigy
I have dozens of great names to trade and billions to bribe you with; hit me up if you have these names (or know anyone that does).

Appreciate all of the suggestions, thanks.
PBs are a great suggestion.......its just that my last "main" was a PB. ; )
Very fun to play; but average damage at best, average at PvP(not a ton of burst damage), no real debuff, no PPPS, and no mez protection. I had him up to 35% DEF to all and 50% resist to all - then he was okay to play.
But it feels like that the cash/io(s) are better spent on a build that might flourish more, end game.

Hello, all. Looking for you guys to drop some knowledge on me, please.
I am currently playing a Fire/Rad that I am interested in softcapping (to all 3).
Here's the kicker - I am NOT interested in taking Scorpin's pool to accomplish this; I want to take Force from the Defender Pool. I also need to take flight as a (groan) theme travel power.
I have just over 20 billion to spend on the build, and its for my namesake character, so money is not a concern.
So, given all my obnoxious criterium, can this be accomplished?
(I would play with Mids, but it hasn't been working for me lately - so I need advice)
Thanks in advance,
-Star -
Hello, all.
I have recently changed accounts and had to re-roll my namesake character (Starforce). So, I'm coming here looking for suggestions on what sets might be a good fit for the "new" him.
I currently have him as a Fire/Rad Corruptor; and I enjoy everything about that combo except for the glaring lack of mez prot. Plus, I prefer defense builds...and it will be hard to softcap a Fire/Cor without taking Scorpian's pool and still keeping all the powers I want.
Short version: I am looking for an end-game character with sets that fit the name Starforce. I am looking for a PvE character and build; but also one that could PvP at least acceptably. I prefer mez protection if possible, and have burnt myself out on playing Fire/Kins for a bit.
So...any thoughts/suggestions?

Brooke: Maybe it's time for us to bury the hatchet.
Alison: Gee, you'd have to pull it out of my back first.
