Interesting idea. I feel the same way about the pre and post granite. It would be interesting to see if Castle ever wants to look at a stone revamp.
We know BABs is looking at changing the look of Granite Armor. -
It is a sarcastic remark. I'm trying to speculate how Positron plans to balance the pandora's box of Incarnates.
-
Quote:This is for TF/SF since the incarnate system is supposed to make characters more powerful. How do you make the game "harder" without pushing things into corner solutions? RSF is a good example. You know, the rest I could see, but that's just cheap. So basically you're suggesting that if a team ends up having a useful team member, the game should alter to all but kick that team member off the team? Have a Granite Tank? Next mission will cause his connection to fail. Because that's what it amounts to. Any change in the game designed to specifically and deliberately take a player out of the game with no option for retaliation other than logging in a different character is not well designed. Void Hunters and Quantum Gunners are currently just about skirting the line, and even then I think they're just cheap. At least hey no longer deal unresistable damage. Doesn't stop them from doing lots of knockback and stun, though.
This type of code isn't for single missions. -
Lots of things can be done to tweak AI.
Flavor Tweaks: Some mobs have prefered targets. Lots of possibilites here. AT, gender, Origin or power use. So a Carnie Ring Mistress could have a preference for attacking Males. Each mob could have anywhere from 1-3 of these. So Luddies would prefer to attack Tech and Science characters. Crey Snipers could have a prefered target of Defenders and Controllers.
Runners warn nearby groups. Rather than just running away, now runners aggro nearby groups to help them.
Anti herding/AoE tactics. Spreading. Running or refusing to chase.
More "nasty" combos by groups. So facing groups with debuffers, taunters, buffers and control.
Archetype Diversification: Having more than 2 of an AT triggers the AD code. So if you have 3 or more buff/debuff types then 99% debuff resist mobs appear who ignore buffs on players too! Have 3 tanks? Well here comes some nasty debuffers. Have 3 control types? Here comes mobs with PToD up all the time. Have too many blasters? Here comes mobs full of mez. Have too many scrappers? Mobs with PBAoE debuffs are coming.
Nemesis mobs: Works like AD but this is to help with "corner solution" formulas for "hard" content. So now mobs will adjust on the fly to make the next mission in the TF/SF harder. Have a Granite tank? Well the next mission in the TF has a mission where TP and Speed boost is suppressed and mobs switch to Psy based attacks. oh yeah, they stick small speed bumps so you have to jump over them. Something to spice up high level TFs. They also toss out snowstorm spamming mobs -
So how are blasters doing in the 40 to 50 range these days?
-
I have a better solution, just nuke the crash. :P
-
Just give my blasters Lighting Rod and Shield Charge! The old school nukes don't seem so good anymore.
-
I would really love this, of course we know what sort of abuse it would lead to. Powers like Dimension Shift, Blackhole, Time Bomb etc would no longer be taken. It would also make Castle's job a bigger headache as people would try to give themselves quick recovery for all their characters at level 4.
-
Yes please change this to Knockdown.
Heck, better yet, just change all of the attacks to Knockdown. -
Quote:*purely my own opinion*Low-level blasters may be common, but there's a distinct shortage of high-level blasters. It's rare for me to see even one on a team, and in my experience, Hamidon raids have more defenders and controllers than blasters.
Who wants to run a high level blaster when Scrappers and Tanks can nuke hordes of stuff and not worry about mez and take the alphas. NM the fact you have a lot more competetion for team slots from FS defenders and controllers.
Things will probably get worse for blasters when the incarante system comes out.
*Edit*
its a balancing act the devs will have to address. -
Stalkers and Dominators for redside and Khelds blueside.
Will probably get worse for Dominators, Stalkers and Peacebrings when GR comes out as there will be even more competition for team slots. -
Well from an implement standpoint, a ranged dropped pet that goes boom in say 5 seconds after you drop it would be easier to implement since that coding already exists.
Yes, the power is awful as it currently stands, why would someone take it over trip mine? -
I feel your pain.
Lately it seems like my characters keep turning into catgirls from animeand my fix for it was to make a catguy
-
I agree Lothic, but I am curious on how other people play the game.
Quote:Whenever this game adds new powersets there's always a handful of people who race up to 50 within a day or two just to be able to brag about it I guess. Playing this game that way has always seemed very silly to me, but who am I to judge?
I fully expect there are level 50 Demon Summoners already on the live servers, and I really couldn't care less. *shrugs* -
I was hoping to add animated tail to my Dominator but I found out that the Braided Buns hairstyle is missing! So I would have to get a new hairstyle to get the animated tail
I know its a small bug bigger fish to fry but I liked that hair on my Dominator! -
Other than the "small tweak" to BotZ, most of i17 were things I was looking forward to. Nice new hero/villain arcs, new Positron TF, Demon summoning and Ultra Mode.
I think the only gripes I have are some of the bugs in i17 and the change to TF diff. Even so, pretty minor and low on the priority list.
Quote:I17 has been out for a couple days now, and I've noticed something that really worries me. There is a distinct lack of the doomsaying and whining that generally accompanies a new update. Now I know you're thinking "But Narf, isn't that a good thing?" and on the surface it looks like it should be, but if you think about it it's quite alarming.
The reason people whine and complain when there's a new update is that they love the game, and are worried about its future. So obviously, the only reason there are can be so few complaints is that people have stopped caring about our beloved game!
We need to do something about this, at the very least to assuage my fears that the game is losing support. So please, everyone, if you love this game, let the world know it by complaining about everything you can and foretelling the DOOM of the game.
If this new trend of contentment and happiness continues, I'll be forced to conclude that the game is closing down in the near future. -
I'm getting way too many of them. They are about 60% of my recipe drops. Been selling and deleteing them because they clog up my recipes.
Quote:Anyone else noticing an unusual upswing in the drop rate of temp power recipes? I got 3 of them running an ITF this evening, and two more while working the Roman wall waiting for folks to arrive. Some of the new ones, like Recovery Serum and Hand Grenade were among them.
Since WW is down, I just crafted them to mess with them. -
So, any level 50 Demon summoner sightings yet?
-
Absolutely! I want the EU and NA players on one serverlist. It also made me wonder if City of Hero would have done much better if the Korean players had full access to the existing servers.
Why try to hide a game from players? I'm sure there are plenty of people who would love to play city of heroes if we made the game more accessable to them.
-
I just like teaming with good players nothing else really matters.
-
Here are some of my ideas.
1. Getting the EU and NA players access to one large inclusive serverlist.
2. Well the most effective way is for the community to get more people playing. However, nicer tools and better incentives could help. I'd like to go to my FLGS and get the room full of boardgamers, RPGers and CCG players to play the game. Some cards with website info and info to give the player my globalname would be nice (and maybe some extra gametime too)
3. City of Heroes needs a cardgame. I don't think the Heroclix thing really worked as the Collectable figures is pretty niche. A self contained card game like Race for the Galaxy or Dominion would be a good way to get more visibility to the MMO game. You can stick game brochures in the gamebox for example. It also gets the "City of heroes" name on other sites such as boardgamegeek which has quite a worldside following. (I'll even design the card game for you want to do it)
4. In game advertising, did we get any rewards for turning it on? I'm sure if it was good enough people would turn it on. -
I would start with removing the "Talk with David Wincott" mission. Now if it actually gave xp like say 2-3 bubbles worth
I wouldn't mind it so much. A better solution would be to make non xp generating talk to missions droppable without counting against your quota.
-
I am considering taking most of my villains blueside and invade Paragon. I am sure there are players who don't want to see the streets of Paragon full of Masterminds with all their pets lagging Ultra Mode.
-
Kill all mission with a stalker

Just wondering how long will it be for the first person to ding 50 with dual pistols.
