I have played a few MMOs and this has without doubt the best and most helpful players that I have found
I can't really add anything to what's been already said. Just the one main thing is have fun
You have 12 slots to make Characters on each server, make use of them, find the server that suits you best, I can't comment on the NA servers as I'm a EU player. Well until the server list merge then the sky's the limit
One other thing don't be in a hurry to get to 50, enjoy the journey read the story lines, some are good and some are awful
but take time to read them.

I would also go for some free server transfers. I have several inactive 50s that I can't bring myself to delete just yet. That would at least be something relatively easy for them to distribute as well, since I'm sure after today the last thing they want is another big project to work on tomorrow lol

I am not one who is complaining about the down time.
But I must just put you right on a few points in your post.
When most of us EU players started our servers were in Germany and maintained in the EU. So our down time was not any where near our prime time.
It's only in the last year or so that the staff this side of the pond were sacked and maintenance was run from NA. -
If you have only been trying since 1pm BST. It's because of a server problem and the server status is STILL not correct, I can't remember the last time it was for EU servers.

I for one want the server list merge. I won't be happy if I should lose mereman, I've used it on the net for almost 17 years, but I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face.
Just posting to show that not all EU players want the current setup.

IMO - I am hoping that trail accounts are already forbidden to match names on either side of the pond and in any case last priority, as per the above stated griefing issues. I am also hoping that some way to merge cross regional names owned by the same person is put in place.
I also hope that no new full Global can use a name from either side of the pond.
Myself I would hate not to have mereman, it's been my online name for almost 20 years.
I could live with mereman_EU or similar. I just hope if there is a NA global mereman I don't log in first time after the merge with Wasisname or Tanks for the Memory
