  1. I was thinking that, for once, I could break out of the Stamina habit with Electric Armor. I'd have a heal/+regen/end cost redux 3-in-1, and an end drain available. I was thinking either Elec/ or Dark/ as a primary.

Anyone have experience with this situation? Thanks!
  2. What primary would you suggest? I was thinking WP for a concept of mine, but do those of you with experience as a /DB Tanker think a damage aura from another Primary is worth it?
  3. kybarsfang

    ??/DA

I'm reluctant to suggest Stone/DA for a Brute. I play a DA/Stone Tanker, if the Fault + OG combo works great, but the problem for a Brute is that it stops mobs from attacking you, thus decreasing your Fury generation. That means you have to work a little bit harder to keep your Fury up, but fortunately, Brawl costs 0 endurance now.
  4. Thanks for the advice, Mid_Boss, but if I take it, the changes are so big that my character stops becoming my character and starts becoming your character. Also, I took the immobilizes for the set bonuses, and Stone Cages is to keep disoriented mobs clumped together for Ice Sword Circle and Frost Breath. I like the advice regarding Bile Spray, though; I was thinking of taking it but I'm not big on the animation.

Frosticus, I plan on spamming and Power Boosting Stalagmites instead of Earthquake (which IIRC is a pet and can't be boosted in the first place,) and I figure with the other controls I'll be using, each with their own -DEF component, I won't need to waste time casting Quicksand. Also, I didn't take Ice Blast or BiB and did take Chilling Embrace because I plan on mainly being in melee range a lot with this build.

Thank you both, however. As I continue to level, if I'm not satisfied with my decisions I may end of trying out some pieces of the advice given.

  6. Thanks to my new work schedule, my Wednesdays are now free. What level is the group generally at, so I can get a toon up there for the next session?
  7. Rumor has it that it will be very soon.

Like Shenku said, the crystals accounted for a good portion of the defeats, and we definitely had a much more difficult time with mobs of minions instead of EBs or AVs. I remember that I got completely surrounded by about 20 Cimerorans when I had Retsu up, and all it took was 2 lucky hits in a row to take me down. Those guys HURT! I definitely have a new appreciation for Tankers now.

On the plus side, though, I think we set a record for uses of the Nectar power from the Valentine's event. Most people seem to forget about it, and wow is it useful!
  8. The Halloween event is going to be crazy this year. I hope that the lag is less than it was on Test, though.
  9. Here's a quick build I made, tailored to my individual tastes. It doesn't have capped defenses, but 25% S/L isn't too bad, plus I have some minor resists and Hibernate to help me out. The build is permadom and 8 seconds away from permahasten if I can slot in an Apocalypse, Ragnarok, and Armageddon

  10. You're right, I forgot all about Stalagmites. Earth it is, then!

I'm definitely not down on /Ice, I've just seen a lot of critical comments regarding it as of late. I'm hoping I can help change opinions of it, but first I gotta see how much my fanboy mentality matches reality.
  11. From testimonies given by people on the boards, /Ice is one of the worst secondaries for a Dom. It lacks "oomph", it's a weak set, etc. However, I don't care, and for one reason and one reason alone: Ice Sword Circle. Oh my gosh, do I love Ice Sword Circle. Some may scoff, but whatever. This power is extremely pretty and I <3 it very very much. As a result, I want to make an /Ice Dom. However, I'm having trouble deciding on a primary.

One of the first primaries I thought of was Mind. It's got a lot of great controls and confuse, but it doesn't have a pet, and if I'm going to be in melee a lot, I'd like something there with me. Ice/ is kinda meh to me, and I'm not touching Plant, only because that flytrap creeps me out. For serious, that thing is the stuff nightmares are made of.

So, that leaves Earth and Fire for me. I love Stony, but the big fast-recharging control power is a KD, which can still allow attacks and can't be Power Boosted. Fire has a much better fast-recharging AOE mez, a disorient, which CAN be Power Boosted, IIRC. However, I dunno how well the Imps are at taking aggro off of me. I imagine they're good for damage, though.

I think I'm leaning toward Fire for the disorient, but I'm not 100% sure yet. Anyone have any thoughts on the combo or tips/tricks for playing /Ice?

I've been struggling with this for a while now. Whenever I make a toon, I feel a little bit of pressure to IO it out and make it the best of the best or else it's not "good enough", which can get extremely expensive.

Thanks for being an advocate for being able to play the game with just normal enhancements.
  13. I told them about you perilX, but you were busy chatting it up with some college girl outside the University, so your spot got filled. Not our fault you were way late.
  14. Ah, well. We have 6 right now at least.

I just got done getting all 3 nukes and a fresh set of Shivans, so I'm ready to roll.
  15. So far, the attendee list looks like this:

    Shenku
    perilX
    kybarsfang
    Magnarsh
    talnar
    Annabel Lee
maybe Grey Pilgrim (if we start an hour later)

Is there anyone that needs to be added to/removed from the list?

Also, good luck finding a high-level /Dark Stalker. It doesn't have enough shiny (dark?) tools to be a very attractive set.

    * Are objectives clear when the Event is running?
No, not really. When the even started, I had no idea really what to do. I approached a banner and tried to attack it but couldn't, just the mobs that were approaching it. When I saw the blue line getting bigger, I thought that we were actually losing, that we were supposed to stop the mobs from getting to the banner and the blue was marking the progress of the mobs we had failed to defeat before they reached the banner. When the bar disappeared and the banner became targetable, however, I felt a little better. When the banners were defeated, though, the confusion started again as we tried to find the Aspect. I'd prefer it if there was an indicator of the Aspect on the map, or even just a general hint of "Aspect spotted near X" to help people in the zone out so that they can get credit for the GM, especially since there are temp powers involved.

    * Are rewards being handed out correctly?
For me they were. Salvage/recipe drops seemed normal, though I got a lot more Common IO Recipe drops than I would've liked.

Regarding the Trick or Treating, though: there seems the be an increase in beneficial drops, and I like it. ScooterTwo and I did some ToTing in Grandville and out of about maybe 25-35 knocks, I got 6 costumes, a rock, and 5 pieces of Halloween salvage. I may have been just lucky though; Scooter didn't get as many costumes but did get more Halloween salvage than I did.

    * Are there any problems with the event occurring in any City Zone? (Note: The event will only be present In Paragon City or the Rogue Isles City Zones, and not in any PvP Zones, Hazard Zones, Trial Zones or Co-Op Zones)
I participated in the event in mercy and Grandville and besides the horrible, horrible lag, everything seemed fine.

    Quote:
    * Are there any graphical effect bugs?
I didn't notice any. On a side note, the sigils surrounding the banners look friggin' cool.

    Quote:
    * Do banner icons appear correctly on the MiniMap when the event is running?
    * Do waypoints correctly appear when the event is running? (Note: Navigation waypoints of active Missions orient players to the Halloween Event objectives when a playerÂ’s character is near one, and should disappear when they leave the area.)
    * Are enemy NPCs appearing at the appropriate level? (i.e. a Level 50 should be able to fight side-by-side with a Level 5 character).
    Yes to all three.

    Quote:
    * Are all badges awarded correctly?
Depends on what you mean to be "awarded correctly." The first time I was fighting a Banner (the Dark Fiend one), I got credit for both it and the Terror banner, which I didn't fight at but I think some of my teammates did. Is that normal?

    I need help...

Try drinking more water, and possibly orange juice.
  18. I won't be able to make it tomorrow, but I'd love to check it out next week when my work schedule changes.

EDIT: Whoops, looks like my work schedule changed again, and I'll be working during this. Ah, well. maybe next time.
  19. I'm going to bring Shivans, and if I remember to make the time, at least one Nuke. I hope others are bringing the same.

Too bad about the mechs. Those things are really friggin' cool. =/

Oh, and Mod 8, you should make a Stalker anyway and ask someone higher up real nicely to bump it up to 50 for you.
  20. I'm now regretting not spending more time IO'ing out my DB/Nin. He could use some more defense, but then again, that's what the Retsu/Hibernate combo and purple inspirations are for.
  21. It is new and started with i16. I haven't decided if I want to /bug it yet.

Speaking of Blind, though, has anyone else noticed a small green glow coming from the target when it hits, as if I had hit the foe with Accelerate Metabolism instead?
  22. My main right now is my Ill/Rad/Ice, and I've never had someone complain about anything my character does for the team. Illusion has 1 (count it, 1!) power with a KB component, and if it truly is creating an actual problem as opposed to a perceived problem, it's extremely easy to just right click and Dismiss. Yes, I'm gonna have to work harder to tank that other AV for you now, but at least the minions won't be knocked back.

While the tank in the first post did have the right to run the team the way he wanted, I don't understand why he had the mentality he did. I mean, was it just the tank and the OP? The post makes it sound like it was, like the tank felt that he was the only one playing the game and that he had crappy NPC followers.

I would totally play a Stone Melee Stalker. Also, add me to the list of people who want Ice/.

back on the topic, though, I had plans for a Broadsword Stalker. Big plans, ones that would be all bright and shiny and ninja-y. However I ran the thing through Mids and decided that Ninja Blade would probably work just as well. =/

However, style > substance. There's a reason why War Made/ Energy Armor Brutes were so well-liked before their respective buffs.
