Quote:You do realize they also drop in game, yes?
And that not all the sets are "zomgbillionz" priced? (Or, frankly, that they're even worth it?)
And that you can get them through other means? (Like running trials constantly, and I *believe* alignment merits?)
Maybe Im thinking to high priced because I havent actually ever bought a purp....whats the most expensive generally go for? -
Then how do people afford to buy purple sets?
-
Whats the max INFL one toon can have?
-
My last thread birthed this one, but being this is a related but different question...I thought a new thread would be best...
OK, I understand ED better than ever.
Lets say my melee power is "being all it can" be with my choice of IO's and/or SO's in the damage department.
Now a set bonus grants me "3% damage bonus to all powers"?
Lets make the example easy, lets say that melee power is at 100% damage with enhancements. Am I getting that additional 3% from the IO set bonus?
Of course I am....right? -
Quote:Thank you for the definition of soft cap there...now I need to know what "hard cap" is...Well, it depends on the level.
For instance with L25 (I happen to know off the top of my head), Acc/Dmg,
you have a 20% damage component in that IO.
I don't know the rest of the set pieces (here at work), so, if you also took an
L25 Bruising Blow Acc/Dmg, and a Pulverising Fisticuffs Acc/Dmg, you'd have
3 set pieces that give you 60% Acc + 60% Dmg.
If you add a straight Dmg SO (33%) to that, you'd have 93%, and off the top of
my head, I think you'd get some slight ED effects (you're right at the edge with
that example).
If those were higher level set pieces, you'd definitely be in ED territory.
No, that's not a "soft cap". Soft Cap is a very specific term that basically means
adding more to a value won't add effectiveness. It commonly applies to Defense
where there is always a 5% chance to be hit, so adding more defense at that
point won't help.
Accuracy is the same way - Once you are 95% to-hit a mob, more accuracy
won't benefit you. You are allowed to add more accuracy, but it simply won't
give you a better number than 95%, no matter how much you add...

PS> One other fine point to recall about ED - it doesn't ignore the benefit, it just harshly
penalizes/degrades amounts above the ED threshold... Adding a 4th and 5th SO
*would* raise the damage, but only by a miniscule amount (far less than the SO/IO
or slot is worth) -
Quote:Perfect example, thank you...Okay, assuming L35 enhancements, Smashing Haymaker adds 22.9% Dam for 3 of the enhancements, and 18.4% for one of them, totalling 87.1% enhancement to damage.
If you add an even level SO to that, you get another 33.3%, which would "normally" put it up to 120.4% enhancement.
However, ED reduces the effectiveness of any percentage past 70% for Schedule A (which Damage is), and the final enhancement bonus to damage of those equals 98.06%
If you only included the Smashing Haymakers, though, you would still be getting 85.39% Damage after ED. So that SO, which would be providing 33.3% Damage enhancement on its own, is actually only adding 12.67% - just over a third of its potential effectiveness. -
Quote:Thank you. Let me give a specific example....not for you, but for me to understand...In short, yes, if they're common IO's - If they're duals, or triples, probably not.
It is not 3 of a type that matters, but rather total enhancement percentage.
I'm sure someone will provide the appropriate P-Wiki link, but for Schedule A
enhancements (Acc, Dmg, etc) ED starts kicking in around 90% or so, and for
Schedule B, it's around 50% or so.

....and I should have specifeid "IO sets"....
Lets say I slot all 4 "Smashing Haymaker" in a melee power. As it happens, all four contain damage bonus. Then I slot an additional damage SO.
Your saying that ED wont ignore the extra damage SO unless it exceeds a percentage? Is this what they refer to as a "soft cap"? -
If I slot 3 IO's that contain damage, and then slot an SO Damage....am I in ED territory?
-
Thank you! Thought it was something like that but I'd never seen them before...

I purchased a set of LOTG yesterday from the Paragon market. First off, I was surprised that you could. But my question is, what level are they? I assumed once slotted they would exhibit the level of the toon it was slotted to. Not so.
Do they increase in level as the toon levels up?
Thanks in advance. -
Quote:I think you may be confusing the general complaints of non melee ATs that there have been 3 new melee sets since Freedom launched (Street Justice, Titan Weapons, Staff Fighting) with there being 3 new sets coming in i22.
Titan Weapons has a confirmed December 6th release.
Staff Fighting, from my understanding, is tied to i22. However, that may not be true in the least bit as it is - again - just my understanding.
Titan weapons are melee? Sounds like ranged... -
I recently read that there may be three new melee powers with i22, with one of them being "Fighting Staff"....if thats accurate, can anyone tell me what the other two new power pools are?
-
Does Steadfast Protection: Resistance/Defense Global +Def stack?
-
Read something that led me to believe that these two enhancements were special and offered global defense even if no more of their respective setes were slotted?
Gladiator's Armor: Teleportation Protection, +Def(All)
Steadfast Protection: Resistance/Defense
Is this correct? -
Thank you all for the VERY useful replies! This does clear it up for me a good bit.
To be clear on something...you can use most IO stes more than once on the same toon? I know there are "unique" ones that says you cant....
And thats where the rule of 5 comes in? You cant have more than 5 bonuses on a single aspect? -
Grasping concepts are important; I havent grasped this one yet....Im even going to have trouble wording this question.
When comparing bonuses of straight SO's vs. IO set bonuses, I always feel Im losing something by going with the IO sets.
This example is generic, but here goes. Lets say I have a blaster attack 6 slotted, with 3 ACC's and 3 Damage SO's (and the damage SO's give approx 36% bonus each....thats 108% bonus). And then I decide to get rid of that for an IO set that has a "increase damage of all your powers by 5%"....and lets say this set has a few damage bonuses of 26%...arent you losing a major amount of damage bonus?
Or...does the global increase to all powers that an IO set gives, is that applied to a different baseline of damage?..is it refering to the same value that the SO bonus is refering too?
I hope I made this question clear enough to answer. In essence, I understand that getting a "1.65% resitance to cold" might be desirebale, but at the cost of a major damage potential? Im trying to understand why IO sets are such a great thing.
Somebody set me straight, and thanks in advance! -
Thanks for these ideas, at least I have a direction to consider.
-
Im sure this has been covered, but I need some opinions...or a redirect to a previous post.
Thanks! -
Thank you!
I've unlocked the alpha slot but my team sped through the mission so I missed lots of the dialouge...Im not sure what Im supposed to put in there....or if there are options, what would be best for my archtype (blaster). -
Can someone please direct me to the best / easiest to understand Incarnate Tutorial...if there is one? Thanks!
-
AH. I didnt realize some of that.

How can you tell how many people are on a server at any given time?

Unique > Unique > Zig Break-Out

Ah, found it. For anyone needing it, its:
Unique > Unique > Zig Break-Out -
Nope, no break out (or anything like that) under Unique > Outdoor >
...but thanks for trying!
