  1. So I must be into self-loathing because I leveled a Dual Blades / Dark Armor brute to 50. I've played this game a long time, but am still no expert....but I understood the challenge of making this a viable creation. Bt you know how we are when "character theme" enters the equation...

I cant be talked off the ledge, so here is what I have, and here is what I asking of you more knowledgeable folk....

DB/DA/Soul Mastery, fully IO'd at a cost of approx. 12 billion. It would have been more, but I used a ton of paragon points to get a few attuned sets.

From limited play, I seem to have a slight endurance problem, but not overly so. The bigger deal is lack of damage. Defense seems reasonable at this point, but I suspect squishiness. To give you a measure of where I am at, I tried to solo Trapdoor and fought him to standstill. I have had toons this happened to in the past and I've had brutes (claws/invulnerable) waste him in 20 seconds.

Q: Which incarnates would you put on a toon like this? (Lore & Judgment doesnt matter unless someone has a great reason why it does).

I'm thinking Musculature, Barrier, Preemptive, and Assault. Thoughts?
  2. Using shockwave: not sure yet as this toon is only a few days old.

Thanks for the tips on the mids!!
  3. Thanks for posting that.

The Superior brute set makes a difference from my build. I hope to have that soon, but you know how hard its to get catalysts.

When your build was complete and you had yet to add incarnate powers, what elements where you lacking the most? Mine seems to be damage.
  4. Thank you! Several good ideas there.....Apoc wont go into spin, but I did take add three Armargeddons to spin including the damage one. I lost a small percentage of mex protect, but gained 4% recovery and 2.52% res to fire/cold.

In answer to your question, my E/N def is at 38.8%.

I agree Unstoppbale is fairly worthless.

The attack chain you suggested is already perma-viable, so I dont think I need Agility, tho xtra DEF would be nice: Im tempted to take musculature for damage.

Interface: Premeptive Radial looks very tempting, good call. I probably would have went Reactive but now Im weighing it out.

Judgement: Im just a major fan of pyronic.

Lore: Thanks, I'll consider both of those

Destiny: well.....barrier would make me damn nigh unkillable...I really hate dying alot in the harder iTrials.

Like I said, swapped out for some armas in swipe, so here is the ne mids....

  5. I think I did pretty well. I havent mastered mids yet...so the mids show one available enhancement slot that should be there. I actually used that slot for a second recharge redux in "Unstoppable", so numbers/totals arent affected.

My goal for this toon is to be capable of going toe-to-toe with AV's and high level mobs, and standing strong in iTrials. Not built for farming, it held it well in a 54x8 (with boses) s/l farm as a test.

Things I can mention: I use the lower powered Brute ATIOS in the build as catalyts arent easy to come by. I can say that endurnace doesnt seem to be a problem. Damage output is not a good as I'd like.

No incarnate powers yet, I'm hoping for suggestions. So you experts fire away! I am anxious as this is the first build I have posted for review! Thanks in advance!

  7. Need a good electric / rad controller on your team? Then help me out.

In mere minutes my toon will hit 50. Time to IO up. Time to incarnate.

This type of pure controller is new to me so Im ready for all the superior advice I KNOW you people of the forum can provide.

Please give me advice and ideas....what do I need to be sure to do with this thing? What sets in which powers? Which powers are worthless (respec time)? Which incarnates will I probably need? Let it rip, and then look for "Cirque du Lumiere" on Freedom....we'll BAF until we bleed.

    Thanks in advance!
  8. ....and I must add: all three OF COURSE have to carry a LOTG +rech.
  9. Weave. Manuever. Combat Jumping. My favorite toon has all three. But staring at my 7th respec, I would like to know which of these powers grants the MOST def and more importantly, which one benfits the most from an extra DEF IO.

    Your answer is most appreciated!
  10. THANK YOU! That was the info I've been missing for quite some time.
  11. I was thinking "Miracle: + Recovery", but I dont understand the following: "...adds a 15% bonus to endurance recovery rate for 120 seconds".

When doe the 120 seconds start? Does this IO need to be slotted in a healing power that is triggered in order for it to operate?

What might be a better option for a single slot "HEALTH: Inherent fitness" enhancement?

    Thanks in advance!

So I am correct in assuming those bonuses beyond the 90% are pointless?
  13. This is perhaps not the right forum "room" to post this question but thats confusing to me...the right room for the right question...so here goes:

When I bring up Combat Attributes, I see my Fire Resistance is 90% , and that number is in blue: I'm assuming thats because it has reached its soft-cap potential?

When I add up the bonuses from IO sets underneath that number, that adds up to more than 90%.

Is it correct thinking on my part that I could (or should) consider changing out a few IO sets that proivide the fire resistance bonuses that are not necessary to reach 90% for sets that may provide other benefits?

    FA Brute

I have a TW/FA farming brute that totally rocks. But I dont know how to use mids that well.

I will say that the secret was incarnate power "Ageless Core Epiphany" in my build, but that doesnt have much to do with Titan Weapons...

What may be of use to you: I believe TW has 3 cone attacks, and 2 AOEs. My AE attack chain: "Blazing Aura" on....then starts with "Arc Of Destruction > Whirling Smash > Titan Sweep"...with "Burn" and "Fiery Embrace" firing off everytime they are recharge. If a boss just needs an extra hit to put him down...."Rend Armor". None of the other TW powers are necessary for AE, at least not for me.

"Ageless Core" is necessary for me because I have so many toggles running at the same time: tough, weave, combat jumping, fire shield, plasma shield.

Even then I find it useful (but not absolutely necessary) to fire off Venge, or pop a blue and/or purple inspie. But my build can definitely do 54x8 AE without vengence., or purples. But the occasional blue inspie while Ageless recharges is necessary.
  15. Yes, plainguy, I actually did read your post, but didnt put it together that that was YOU. Thats a great post.

Yes, this was a case of following blindly, something I havent done in 7 years of this game, and Im not sure why I did it now except that I was curious. To see an actual blaster / farmer seems very awesome.

All this talk about farming, I want to say this....I have not been into that aspect of the game in my 7 years, until recently. I do have a TW/FA brute that is a very successful farmer; "Gunmages" build...at least with ME running it...doesnt come close to my brute...not close at all. So the question becomes...whats the point? The point for me was, I thought this build would totally rock, maybe have some incredible DPS because it IS a blaster, but its much harder work and so dependant on , well, venge for one thing.

But I enjoy the second build I made yesterday, fully IO'd but at a fraction of the cost. I may try "Gunmages" build in a farm again when its fully incarnated.
  16. I've ran solo and also using venge. I go through purple inspies quickly when not using venge.

I've gotten a little better but still die several times on a small map. I know incarnate abilities (barrier maybe?) would make a difference but at the price of this build I was hoping it wouldnt take that....and the original design didnt call for any.

Ive now created a second build so I can run regular content, because the expensive build was so specific...I couldnt even solo level 50 content, and just got plain whacked in sLam's.

Paid dearly for getting fascinated with possibilities!

    i22 AE Changes?

Does anyone know what the changes to AE are for i22?

    Thanks!
  18. "Gunmage" is supposed to be an epic DP/MM farmer...and Im sure he is....posted his build and mids here:

    http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=268020

The build cost about 25 billion. I was really interested in it, so I worked hard for a long time and copied it.

What a major disappointment. I dont last 60 seconds in an S/L farm. Im sure there is nothing wrong with the build. So my question is, if there are any other DP/MM farmers here...

    What is your attack chain?

What are the tips that make this work?

    AE Rewards...?

Last night a fella told me (in game of course) that he received standard rewards in missions, as opposed to AE tickets...now, I know you have that option in some of the "Devs Choice" and/or highly rated arcs....but this was not one of those.

Is there a way to select from "standard rewrads" VS "AE rewards"? Or was guy full o' crap?

    Thanks!
  20. A major LOL and TY for responses!
  21. "Common" Crafted leve 50 IOs such as damage and acc exemp down with you (as long as you havent exemped down past the particular power)?
  22. Hi,

I thought about posting this question over on the brute forum, but the question is a little less about my particular build and more about dual build usage in general.

I have developed quite the farming TW/Fire Brute.

Problem is: she is so geared toward fire def / res, that I can barely survive the other game content. Forget about pulling Nightstar or Seige in a BAF.

So my question is....how do people (who may be in my position) genenerally use there second and third builds? My thought was to take build #2 and try to slot the powers with crafted common lev 50 IO's across the board......and take build #3 and try to slot for lower level content so I can go back and run Ourobus missions and TF's I've missed.

*Im not really into PvP so, thats not a concern for me.

Also, when making a 2nd & 3rd build, do your incarnater powers always stay the same?

    Thanks!
  23. What is the simplest way to download the game client to a new PC? Do you really have to go through all that create new account jazz?
  24. I may buy a new laptop today and Im wondering if some could either point me to the spec requirements, or cut & paste them here....to run the game in ultra mode.

    Thanks!
