So long as no more flakes at work try to flake out, I should be golden!!!
Bringing Hell-Curse, fire/dark corr -
Hey Ariel,
I think my friend wants to come too. He'll bring his bots/ff MM -
Hey all you people!
So here's my question: I'm at the point where I would like to decide on an alpha ability for my Fire/Dark Corruptor.
Unfortunately, I don't have him completely IO'd as I do in my build on Mids, so I can't test to see if I'm going to have endurance issues.
With 216% recovery, and 1.77 endurance drain/sec, I can tell that there is potential for some endurance problems.
I know that the best way to nip end. problems in the butt is with Cardiac, but I feel sad about missing out on any kind of damage buff. I'd like to use Intuition Radial for the damage, to-hit debuff, and slow (all of which seem super useful for him), but--in the back of my head--I keep thinking about the end-mod component of Musculature.
Does anyone have an opinion on whether or not the end-mod added by Musculature would be enough to alleviate most endurance issues, if the only power I have that it would affect is Stamina?
Does anyone know if I even am going to suffer from endurance issues?
Does anyone say screw it, and go with Core Vigor for Heal/Acc/End. Reduction?
Does anyone say that I should stick with the tried-and-true Core Cardiac and never worry again?
Does anyone say that I'm being WAY too concerned about this, and think that I should pick what I want for the moment, and change it later if it doesn't work? (at which point I'll respond "TROLLLLLLLLL! TROLLL IN THE DUNGEON!!!! ....thought you oughta know")
ANYWAY, thanks for reading, and if you think it might help you get an idea of what I'm working with, I attached my build.

I'd like to come again! Had a great time last week for Faathim.
I'll bring Overshadower the Dark/Dark Dom.
See you then! -
Congratulations! You're my hero!!!!! Were the difficulty settings turned down low, or are you just that much of a baller?
Either way, super impressive. How did you overcome the healing nictus at the end? -
I want to go!!! Ariel sign me up!
I'll bring Speedwell -
Quote:this. amen.Playing a certain Archetype isn't a 'chore' or 'responsibility'.
It's not set in stone what each AT should do. It is hinted what the AT is capable of, but it's up to you on how to utilize it, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Do what's fun for you!
If you want to, and can make a Brute that is a part-time Tanker, then do it! If you want to, and can make a Brute that is a part-time Stalker, then do it! If you want to, and can make a Brute that is a part-time Controller...do it! -
/signed on the -res on Kheldian attacks
/signed on the AoE heal idea
/facepalm on the pet over glowing touch.
Not sure what to do though with glowing touch...part of me just wants to see it turn into a +def or +res or +regen or +recovery buff or some combination of various bonuses, while the other part of me wants to see it turn into a better heal or AoE heal...in which case Reform Essence could probably turn into an AoE buff. Idk...but I'm right there with you about giving Peacebringers more tools to help the team. -
Shweeeet! Now I can go back in time before Enhancement Diversification!!!!!!!!!!
I grant TPBM the power to know what the Dharma Initiative is... -
-
Go with your gut! As an archetype that has low HP levels from the get-go, having 300% regeneration is, by definition, not going to be as effective as it would be on a scrapper or tank. If you go with the regen, I feel like you'd end up disappointed when you realize that the extra regeneration won't really add that much to your survivability when compared to what having a great defense would..I think you might be over-estimating the effect the Regen would be having on a Blaster...
Getting hit less often is by far the better choice here. Defense FTW.
EDIT: That is, assuming money is no object. Regeneration sets are typically much cheaper. -
-
I agree with what someone said earlier about it being a lie...I bet you that's the story that's written in the history books, but in actuality, Tyrant was actually manipulating people in order to get to that top spot.
I just can't see him having any doubts about being the dictator... -

Quote:I wouldn't bother, the job of a stalker is to make big nasty baddies suddenly grow pointy bits of metal in uncomfortable places. Stalker builds are generally tight enough as it is without adding three whole powers from the medicine pool. If you want to help rez people, I'd just carry a couple extra wakies. Inspirations are cheap, power picks are priceless.
edit: If you really want a rez power, look into the day job badges. If you get the professor badge (the university) and the pain specialist badge (hospitals), that gives you the Physician accolade badge. The associated power is an ally rez, which gains charges by being logged out in either the university or a hospital. If you only occasionally need it on taskforces and the like, that seems to me to be a far more economical way to get a rez.
THIS. well said, my friend. well said. -
Here's my question...and it's a hard one!
On the Red Fortune Defense Set, what the heck is that supposed to be a picture of? It looks like a red ghost to me but I can't be sure.....
Also, is there any way you can edit the Naming system so that inactive toons get deleted, or at least have to forfeit their names? Naming my characters is getting almost impossible! -
Quote:Ha. Maybe you missed the part when I saidHere's an idea... let's give defenders, wait, let's give everyone TWICE AS MUCH DAMAGE! That's like Edison, Thomas Crapper and Martin Luther King all wrapped into one!
Quote:I don't want the Defenders to be blown out of proportion. All I want is for the inherent to be given a boost to bring it on par with the other ATs.
Edit: This.
Quote:
I don't think Defenders are underperforming now, but they don't have any competition now. When Going Rogue comes out there will be direct competition between Corrupters and Defenders and I'd like to see some more 'character' given to Defenders in a small rework, not buff, to their inherent power. So that it better distinguishes the choice between Defenders and Corrupters. This would give me a playstyle reason to choose one over the other. -
Quote:Because the devs are limited to what works within the content of game. It has nothing to do with civilization changes like a light bulb. They make a change that goes too far and player will scream and shout when they nerf. They go too little and players will scream and shout that the devs didn't do it right.
If the devs feel the AT fits just right where they expect it within the game, then why change? What hole or issue are they fixing? Soloing...for an AT that shines in teams?
Can defenders solo? Most definitely.
But, my emp def does not solo as fast as my 2 scrappers. So if I want a fast soloing toon, I would make a scrapper. Why does a defender have to solo the same as all the other ATs? The other ATs, like a tanker or controller early on, don't solo as fast, but they can.
From my reading of the devs when they make changes, they have not routinely gave free buffs to ATs without a balance. To me, the dom changes are the best example. Changes in the blaster and stalker ATs were a performance issue. And this is why they need to prove it. Otherwise, IMO, the devs will balance any buff they give to defenders with something we may not want.
What I'm saying is it's a quality of life issue. I know that Defenders are completely capable of functioning as soloers, AND that the Developers are comfortable with the way they perform now. However, that doesn't mean that we, as players, are satisfied. Don't get me wrong, I don't want the Defenders to be blown out of proportion. All I want is for the inherent to be given a boost to bring it on par with the other ATs. They aren't gimped, but they aren't perfect either. Though giving Defenders a better inherent may lead to some repercussions (such as increased endurance costs), it should be done because it gives them a powerful and memorable inherent that sets them apart from Corr's and MM's and Trollers by giving them the added level of endurance management from the get-go that others will not have. -
Quote:Why should anyone need to prove that? Do you think that Edison had to prove that candles and lamps were underperforming when he invented the lightbulb? Do you think Thomas Crapper had to prove that holes in the ground were sub par when he invented the toilet? Did Martin Luther King have to prove that segregation was unfair when he decided to fight for change? The answer is no to all of the above. If something can be improved (especially something like this which would NOT drastically alter the way Defenders play), why shouldn't the developers make it better? The argument of "We're doing just fine" could've been made by society in any of the situations I described earlier but the fact that things were improved actually did change the quality of life for everyone involved for the better.Adeon and Talionis:
I sort of agree that Vigilance is a nonpower (well, sometimes it helps, but I agree that those are unpredictable moments and rare ones. ) However, to replace Vigilance with a power that improves Defender performance, shouldn't you first prove that Defenders need a performance boost?
The point is, yes, defenders are doing well as support archetypes already. But we could make them better at their jobs (both on teams and solo) without tipping the scales to some level of uberness that's unfair to the game. Vigilance, in my opinion, is not particularly useful when compared to inherents like Containment, Fury, Domination, Critical Hits, or even the VEATs' inherents. Thus, to give Defenders an equally powerful inherent to give players yet another reason to enjoy them, Vigilance probably should be buffed up to give Defenders more reliable (if not simply more) endurance recovery. -
Alrighty! May I present, the new and (I hope) improved Kahuna Triform PB!!!
I didn't want to sacrifice quite as many slots as suggested (Primarily for set bonus reasons but also because I wasn't sure where to put them) so I came up with a fairly happy compromise! Glow-Worm's Arsenal now consists of two more attack powers! Woohoo! I just sacrificed Grant Invisibility and Stamina which were iffy choices for me in the first place.
Is this more playable? All advice is appreciated!

Interesting thoughts! I'd never even considered that...and you are absolutely right about Aid Other. Let me see what I can come up with...

Hello all you lovely people!
Recently, I've decided that my primary hero character is going to be a Peacebringer. I love them!!! However, I've also been struck with this idea that works in my brain that might not actually work out in real life. Hence, my plea for advice. As I do plan to make this toon my main, I plan to spend as much influence as necessary to "uber" him out. So naturally, please do not let costs factor into your advice (unless I'm spending unnecessary inf). So, without further ado, I present the Kahuna plan for a Triform Peacebringer:
My idea is to create the whole "Jack-of-all-trades but master of none" situation. I do plan to spend the vast majority of time teaming, so I intend to fill whatever role the team appears to be lacking. My human form will function as a Pseudo-Support character, offering buffs and heals to teammates while accepting that it does little in any other area. And of course, Nova for damage and Dwarf for tanking. As far as set bonuses go, I tried to split my focus between Hit-Points, Recharge, Recovery and Regeneration- I guess I figured that since I would be having so many roles that those generic bonuses would work well. How else can I optimize this build? Anything I should change? Any and all advice is appreciated. (I apologize if there is already a post like this, but I trawled for a while and couldn't find any builds like this for me to look at)
Thanks a ton!

I think that it should be added.
The only real resources I know of to "test" powers are Mids for number crunching and predicting how a power will work for you, and the test server for actually seeing it used (though you must have a respec and the character copy tool). I do use Mids frequently, but I, though I've played the game for over a year now, have never gotten on test.
In my opinion, I don't see the average player logging off, copying a character, figuring out how to get on test, and then respeccing, just to test out a power that might have taken him 3 minutes if there was a way to test powers within 5 levels of your current level or something. As for Mids, same deal. The point is that there really is NO way to test powers IN GAME without a respec. It all requires programs from outside the actual game that many players don't have access to.
