I friggen knew it looked familiar. Do you still play? I used to, but ended up dropping out after all the doom cries.
  2. Thank you for the build mauk2!

I didn't mean softcapped completely, but maybe with 1 or 2 foes in range. Regardless, thank you for the heads up and after looking over your build, ill probably go with yours unless another forumite decides to chime in.

I'm glad you farm on this build, because thats exactly what iv'e been trying to accomplish, and so far at +1/x8 I havnt been doing too bad.
  3. No one else has any build advice? I'd really appreciate a softcapped shell to work with at the least

Which is funny, because Iv'e been dieing to invest some time into a elec/ scrapper. I just cant find the right secondary. I just rolled a elec/inv last night and so far with just charged brawl, havoc, and jacobs ladder, my ST damage really isnt as bad as everyones makes it out to be. Now, from a numbers standpoint, I can imagine it's towards the bottom of the list, but so far, i havn't really been frustrated, which is how a number of people refer to the set.

As for the topic at hand, My vote is still for dm/elec. What should be kept in mind is the dmg of lightening field powered by soul drain. Now, ElectroHawk pointed out that Soul Drain wasn't up enough to make a difference, but from my experience, a downtime of less than 60 seconds with moderate slotting leaves you buffed for a substantial amount of time.

The siphon life excerpt actually got me thinking, and to be honest, it seems like it either crits or misses, so ill leave that alone.

A tad off topic, but what game is your avatar from ElectroHawk? I feel like ive seen it before but cant put my finger on it.
  5. Thank you for the builds

Im looking for something that is soft capped with just one foe in range as well. Now, whether or not S/L is the best option, or melee, im not sure. This is where im looking for some help. Your Ma/Inv looks very sturdy, but I feel that I may have more options with claws being my primary.

Again, I really appreciate the help though Postagulous!
  6. Hey all, I recently picked up my claws/inv and actually enjoyed myself so i figured i'd actually invest some time and money into him.

Would anyone be so kind as to throw a build together for me? I'm not looking for the most expensive build, but id also like something to grow into.

    Thank you in advance
  7. My current project is a DM/Ela, and to be completely honest, Im surprised more people havn't picked it up. So far, with just SO's and few IO's, I'm quite happy with how beastly the combination is. I cant say for certain how end game will look, but from my experience(and I've been eyeing this build for awhile now), you cant lose. The damage aura gives DM/ some much needed AoE goodness, Soul Drain Increases that damage significantly, energize + siphon life? Yea...the synergy is fairly blunt, but Iv'e seen so few of it's kind that I feel honored every time I log in.

I wouldn't necessarily say they are "not anywhere near as good", its more of a play style preference. It also depends on how much your willing to invest into your toon. If you want to softcap early and hit some other bonuses, the sword sets really pick up the slack. But if your more worried about damage, SS comes in.

I think that as a scrapper, SS would tear it up, but I suppose that's a whole other horse

Edit: Gaidin beat me to it.
  9. Now, with all of this in mind...

Why make a brute when you can make a scrapper and take the flashy sadistic patron pools and walk the line between blue AND red.
  10. Thank you for the input all...

Ive got this weird idea in my head that, when going for recharge and a little defense, I will have an extremely versatile scrapper on my hands. Something about siphon life and energize together makes me feel safe. I dont know, I suppose I will have to wait until I start getting into IO's before I decide whether or not I was correct in thinking this rare combination is a beast.
  11. Because of my thirst for knowledge regarding good combinations, could someone shed a little light on the impact of DM on /Elec?

By this i mean, how much of an impact does soul drain have on lightening field? I mean, I havn't messed around with lightening field in a very long time, so I don't necessarily have a large range of knowledge regarding whether or not it's a decent power adder.I do recall dark armor's equivalent adding a somewhat decent chunk of damage to overall DPS though.

So could anyone crank out some numbers and show me whether or not I should continue on this path, because the added AoE, even if it is rather small, makes me grin when looking at DM as a single target powerhouse. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  12. I have a DM/Inv and a MA/WP...and just out of experience, I found the lack of AoE in DM to frustrate me. Not to say in the least that the set is lacking, because it's at the top of the dps chart for a reason.

With that in mind, my MA/WP is my best looking toon, and while mine is not IO'd out to where I'd like it to be, it is still very survivable.

Considering that your secondary is stagnent, as stated above, from a min/max perspective, DM/WP will be extremely sturdy due to the quick heal that is Siphon Life combined with the regenerative properties of WP. If you want to fit a concept and still be fairly tough, MA/WP will be just fine. It all comes down to what your preference is in terms of min/max.
  13. Thank you all for your input and rather interesting points. I have my two scrappers that I'm going to work on- DM/Elec and DB/SR. So far, both are doing great and extremely fun.

If anyone has a good build for either combination, please post it here. I'm still in the lowbie levels, but I like to know what I should be aiming for along the way.

Again, thank you all, and I hope to see you in-game
  14. Thank you for the build...

Yea, the defense is extremely low, but at least it's something to start on, thank you.
  15. Alright guys, well, for the most part, Iv'e been messing around with DM/Elec and a Kat/Elec, and I have to say that the dm/elec is extremely fun and survivable.

On on the other hand, I'm still having an issue with deciding between DB or Kat, I mean, realistically, Kat needs a secondary that doesn't just reach softcap and stop, wasting DA really bothers me for some reason. Combining it with /elec has me wondering, how bad is the redraw? Specifically on energize?

Regarding DB, some have mentioned it being above Kat in dmg and about on the same plane for AoE, is this true? If this is the case, why not just go DB, and I can come up with a secondary that meets my needs?

Also, if anyone has any builds for a dm/elec, even if they are just in the works, I'd love to take a look. The combination is keeping me fairly entertained(and alive for that matter). I havnt decided if I want to get my SR fix with DB or DM, so any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
  16. On both of my scrappers(ma/wp and claw/inv) I invested most of my time on the ride, and really was dissapointed after I started spending inf on their builds.

How sturdy is your ma/wp? It was my favorite scrapper for the longest time, but for some reason, cant stand up for too long. I know I havent invested enough time and inf into him as I need to, but still.

Im looking for a scrapper that I will fall in love with and keep playing through GR and beyond. Is that answer happy enough? lol. Seriously though, basically a combination that I will actually get into. It can survive, and look cool while doing so.
  17. Interesting point, precisely why before that combination, kat/elec held my vote, and if im not mistaken, received a rather large rating on the pylon solo. I think Werner did a dps calculation(of someone elses attempt?) and it was fairly high. Of course, this was only even possible due to DA, but its still something that I keep in mind
  18. Hmm, I never thought of it that way. To be honest, I want a Kat toon really bad, but at the same time, DB seems like such a fun set, that I'm about to pair DB/SR, and call it a day. I'd do a kat/wp if it wasn't so common.

The reason I'm playing a dm/elec, is because of how rare it is. Several weeks ago, I mentioned the combination on the forums, and why I felt it would be a great scrapper. I still have seen maybe one other of it's kind.

I guess what my decision will come down to is, do I want elec/sr or db/sr. Either way, neither offer SR anything but dmg.
  19. I was debating whether to pair Elec with SR to maintain the alpha from LR, or to just put a sword with it. I'm still not certain what will peak my interest. For some reason, pairing katana with SR makes me feel like im wasting DA, i dont know why.

As for Electric, is the ST dmg bad enough to make the ride to 50 unenjoyable?
  20. Ok, so there are several hundred(thousand?) threads pertaining to the idea of others throwing out combination of power sets in hopes of shutting up the poster. More likely than not, the thread is forgotten, dead, or a combination of the two.

Up until this point, I have focused on scrapper builds that sum up what most would call...fun? My two lvl 50 scrappers are claws/inv and ma/wp, neither combination claims a spot at the top of the DPS charts or reigns supreme here on the forums, but nonetheless, I played these sets to the appropriate level cap. With GR offering some decent content for those who own a capped crusader, I have been on the hunt for a scrapper combination that solidifies what Iv'e always done with scrappers(play for fun while kicking butt...do those go hand in hand?). I am more or less a perfectionist, my costume, power choices and sets must be 100% correct, or I drop the toon.

Now, on to what will help you all decide on what could possibly "shut me up". I'm looking for something that incorporates high survivability with a relatively fun play style. Just moments ago, I created a dm/elec to lvl up at the same time as this scrapper to give me a more strategic route of play in case i get bored of just staying alive while i make a sandwich. The primaries I am most interested in are Katana, DB, and electric. While secondaries can vary, SR is the one set that I cant help but to want to love, but have yet to do so, so if possible, some suggestions with SR in mind will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all for your help, and I hope to hear back from all of you....yes even you Werner, even though I cringe at the thought of kat/regen-dark
  21. I have a lvl 29 DM/Inv with just common IO's and he is very sturdy. He misses every once in awhile, but for the most part, he is extremely tough.

As tough as a single sword primary? Perhaps not, but there are other forms of mitigation besides def.
  22. I know survivability is a requirement for the combo, and all of the replies so far have been about that...but I'd like to point out that my DM/Elec is a beast.

I havn't quite worked out my build, and nowhere near funded enough to softcap as of yet, but so far, its quite fun.
  23. Hmmph, i logged in Thursday night, friday during the day, saturday night, and earlier this morning, and all servers were green, and I stood around looking for a team for at least 20-30 minutes a pop, and the servers seemed bone dry.

Just seemed odd, its too bad, this was one of my favorite games for a long time, its sad to see the lack of support to be so harsh.

I suppose you could go biker look and then its leather jacket / t shirt / jeans / boots / headband or goggles.
No, my first post I said casual, and thats why i clarified in the second post. I realize casual may not have been the best choice of words.

What Im saying is that, I want the attitude of Sasuke, which is a common anime character, but not the standard "ninja" look. Basically, a more modern and not so typical looking ninja. So maybe he'd have aspects of being a ninja, but not necessarily an all out, "Hey look, a ninja!" feel to him.

Thank you all who are actually helping me, i appreesh!
  25. Lol, I think that its hilarious, but not what im looking for...

I threw out "a modern Sasuke from Naruto", because basically im looking for a quiet badass who doesnt necessarily have the "standard" ninja look.

Kind of like...He's quiet and sarcastic, but when he fights, hes ferocious.

Is that a little more clear?
