  1. Well, just to give another perspective. CoH was the first and only MMO I ever played because I'm a comix nerd, not a "gamer". I played for over almost 8 years and my son literally grew up playing the game. We still have the first hero he made when he was 8 years old. I'm a realist, so WHILE I've been supporting and participating in all of Titan's efforts to save CoH, I've also been making up my mains on CO just in case and to keep them alive.

CO is not welcoming or inviting at first (I don't mean the community, they're less mature but not bad , I mean the game itself). You have to push through and stay with it. But after a significant amount of time spent acclimating to and learning the game, last weekend my son (who is now 16!) and I had a frikkin awesome time being chased around by giant Destroids and swimming through flooded sewers fighting sharks to get to the pumps to drain the sewers so we could escape, and playing a really creepy arc that felt like John Carpenters "The Thing".

I mean we had a ball. Laughing and jaws dropping at some of the cool &#% that happened.

And, if you look up Pencil and Paper Champions lore, it's rich and brilliant.

CO is not CoX. But, while it has it's bad points, it's got some amazing good points. It's better and worse than CoX in a lot of ways, which makes it more of an uneven game, but ultimately a good game if you stick with it.

It's a more lethal game and, just take my advice, EMBRACE blocking, don't fight it.

And if we can connect to the devs over there and get a relationship like we had at CoX, the potential is exciting.
  2. Hey, NCsoft and the producers are having discussions, and if we make enough of the right kind of noise, as we have been encouraged to do by both the production team (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ic,4936.0.html) and others working on saving the game, including some celebrities (http://www.cohtitan.com/forum/index....ic,4900.0.html ), then it is possible they will look at game maintenance and CoX2 development if they already have a start on those things. And they might even release the I24 stuff they already have and dribble out the incarnate stuff.

And, yes, it's easy to naysay--watch, I'll do it--"Not gonna happen, buddy. Don't waste your time. Doom." See. Easy. But by trying to save the game we're not going to make things any worse! The worst thing that could happen, which is what is going to happen anyway if we do nothing, is for the game to be totally killed.

I don't know, I kinda think some people play a Superhero game for a reason. Like any good Hero, I'm gonna fight till the end no matter what the odds, and either win or go down wearing my best virtual spandex! (Mental note, go on a diet and begin lifting weights immediately!)
  3. Pursuing a broad and aggressive media campaign is GENIUS!!! NO company likes bad PR. And all it takes is persistence and numbers to get things on people's radar screens--and we have both!

I think this could both become really big and really have an effect.
  4. I know this is a resource page, but I have to say this, and if you want me to take it down, I understand and no offense.

    Thanks, man.

I'm mad at them. They don't, and can't, understand that this game, and this player base, is different.

I think that when you make a Superhero game that is truly heroic, you bring out something special in people.

I don't know if any of this will work, but, in the end, that doesn't change anything, does it?

It wouldn't stop Superman. It wouldn't stop Batman. It wouldn't stop Spider-Man.

See, as cheesey as it is, I grew up with those guys, and they had a lot to do with what is best in me.

Win or lose, we'll be wearin our boots.
  5. I'm in. I'll pay dues, throw in what seed capital I can, and support any and all efforts.
  6. Wow, that... that nuked it.

Radial isn't even close to Core now on that build. This will be a pretty significant nerf to Radial, at least on some builds.

Too bad :/. I like the way Radial works better for my playstyle--I'm not prone to scrapperlock and don't really enjoy fury chasing--but after this PPM change comes out I'd be giving up lots of damage by going with Radial .

Well, enjoy the glory days of Radial while you can :P!
  7. Man, I always have a question.

Ok, the spreadsheet says "slotted recharge"--does that mean the attacks recharge only including recharge reduction that is actually slotted in the power--not global--or does my global recharge count too? I have two different values--the recharge time I get from looking at the detailed info on the power, which is just counting slotted recharge reduction, and the value from mids taking global recharge into account. Which do I use?

I'm going to go ahead and put in the "slotted only" recharge, not including my global bonuses, but let me know if that's wrong.

Thanks for all of this, btw, SOOOOOOOOO helpful!
  8. Thanks, Hope! Yeah, I heard that about Gauntlet, but I'm not too worried about that because I assume that'll be fixed soon (I hope I don't eat those words). I'm more concerned about the PPM changes shifting things back towards core, but on another thread someone said they did some fancy maths based on what Posi said and it didn't make a huge difference. I don't have a "high end" build when it comes to recharge anyway, so I'm assuming (there I go again) that I'll be ok. If anyone knows different, please save me from my assumptions :P.
  9. I'm going to bump my own thread once because there has been a lot more discussion about Hybrid Assault and people seem to have a better handle on it--but I still haven't gotten a definitive answer.

Thanks--and I'll let it die after this, but hopefully not before someone answers!

EDIT: I take back my bump. With the help of Hopeling I got it figured out. If anyone wants to know, on a not-super-high-end fire tanker at the current PPM model, it's surprisingly close to a wash, with Core a smidge ahead, but not by much.
  10. Cool! Could you post your PPM adjusted one for us like Hopeling did--that'd be awesome!
  11. I was really surprised what I got when I entered my main attacks into the spreadsheet. So surprised that I wonder if I screwed up somehow, and I wanted to post it so y'all can double-check me. Because, if this is right, it's basically a wash, and I'll go Radial and take my damage in the form of energy and up-front, thank you very much.

BTW, this is for my FA/EM/PM tanker.

So, my two questions are a) is this right? and b) will the PPM changes likely throw the advantage further towards Core to where it isn't close to a wash any more.

This is the best I could format it, sorry if it's hard to read:

    Power - Recharge - Activation - Radius - Arc - Base Damage - Core - Radial

    Fireball - 32 - 1 - 15 - 360 - 50.72 - 38.04 - 46.9218953846

    Burn - 25 - 2.03 - 8 - 360 - 107.4 - 80.55 - 69.3164363636

    Whirling Hands - 14 - 2.5 - 8 - 360 - 44.49 - 33.3675 - 37.9682727273

    Energy Transfer - 20 - 2.67 - 0 - 0 - 202.9 - 152.175 - 152.49616

    Total Focus - 20 - 3.3 0 - 0 - 158.4 - 118.8 - 152.49616

    Barrage - 6 - 1.33 - 0 - 0 - 58.72 - 44.04 - 41.44640016

    Fire Blast - 6 - 1.2 - 0 - 0 - 58.72 - 44.04 - 40.7113344

    Ring of Fire - 10 - 1.17 - 0 - 0 - 48.94 - 36.705 - 83.95856
  12. Ok, I read on another thread that Radial includes and just front-loads damage from DoT. If that's true, that could change things for me, because that means that the only big advantage Core has is driving up Fiery Embrace by driving my damage bonus up. I don't mind fury-like powers that much, but it'd be nice to have my extra damage there even if I'm not throwing attacks as fast as I can.
  13. Ok, so in the case of my FA/EM/PM tanker, I have lots of slow recharging AOE and single target attacks and a low damage mod, which indicates Radial.

But, I have Fiery Embrace and some DoT which benefit more from Core (I think). And my biggest sticking point is finishing off the few hard targets after my AOE's have nuked the minions and the wimpier Lieutenants and Buildup and Fiery Embrace are recharging--and AV's take forever.

So... Core would be best for that toon? Am I right about that?

Also, I assume neither tree affects Judgement, right?

    Thanks!
  14. I THINK the max boost for core is 75% (15%x5), and if you're easily maintaining the maximum boost, that's exciting to me! I think the only time the damage cap really factors in is when you are receiving external boosts. I'm leaning towards Core, because a sustainable 75% damage boost when solo sounds fabulous to me.

The only problem is that Radial has some significant advantages. There is no need for "ramping up" to full damage and Doublehit will go past the damage cap. So, if Radial contributes roughly the same amount of total damage, it's better. If, however, due to DoT or other factors, I'd get consistently better total damage from Core, I'd go with Core despite the other advantages of Radial.

Which is exactly what I'm trying to find out. But I'm retarded with maths and limited in my gaming time, so I have to lean on the real heroes .

is there a bug on the proc?

i have 2 +4/8 player mobs on me and my normal damage output is 192%
Ok, questions. What tier? By "normal", do you mean your normal damage BEFORE you got Assault or do you mean your usual boost while using Assault? And, finally, has anyone gotten a definitive answer to the original question--is Core or Radial better for a fire tanker ;P.
  16. Hey, does anyone know if Blazing Aura damage will count at all towards procing for Core? That'd make it easier to maintain the stacking.
  17. Ok, big question. When the tier 2 & 3 tack on Smashing damage to attacks, does that tag the attacks with Smashing damage as far as defense goes? That's a big deal. I don't particularly want my pure fire attacks tagged as Smashing defensively.
  18. Tried to log on, couldn't, but go the new loading screen. Already miss the Incarnate-powered teabag. Seriously, it was a nice classic piece of comics art that was just unfortunately positioned. If I were Statesman, I'd do the pelvic thrust too. Every day.

    REVAMP EM set

As someone who's main is an EM tanker, I have to say PLEASE DON'T RADICALLY CHANGE OR RE-DESIGN THE LOOK OR FEEL OF THE SET, just tweak it so it is either more versatile or has a niche. Little tweaks, like trimming a second off of the activation of ET and TF so it's a fast, big double-hitter, or trimming one and then making the other have some splash so it's not kind of "the same attack twice", or expanding Whirling Hand's radius to 15 feel like Dominators, would be plenty. But it's got great style as a set, it's just been over-corrected and needs a little love. A lot of people suggest just roll back the changes, and that'd work too.

Just make it either the REAL big single-target hit daddy, or address it's weaknesses if it's not going to be. Tweaks can do this easily without a total re-design (which would suck) or over powering the set (which isn't a real danger at this point), and, honestly, at this stage of the game, a rollback wouldn't be over powered either.
  20. Thanks for the answers--now another related question that I don't want to start another whole thread over (I figure it's ok if I hijack my own thread :P). Since I can't slot for Taunt in my PM Ancillary pools attacks, does the taunt enhancement from Nerve affect them? Mids says not, but sometimes Mids is off, and I'm hoping that I'm getting enhanced taunt in Fireball and Melt Armor, as well as Fire Blast and Ring of Fire, but I can't tell if I am.

    Anyone know for sure?
  21. Ok, I do have global accuracy and to hit boosts, plus Tactics, but I assumed those don't help Judgement, was I wrong?

And, when soloing Cims at 4/8 with no defense debuff, there just is no amount of accuracy or to hit that is wasteful.
  22. Hope, I actually didn't realize that the Tanker cap meant you could go 300% ABOVE base rather than 300% total. Silly of me. I take back what I said about having "a decent general idea of how things work" ;P.

And, Viper, I think you're right, but don't forget FA and PM. EM is mostly single target, but I've got Blazing Aura ticking away plus Melt Armor to soften them up before Fire Ball and Burn on top of EM's Whirling Hands (not to mention Pyronic Judgement)--and all of this after popping Fiery Embrace and Buildup. Even on 4/8, by the time I'm down to my single target attacks, I'm just mopping up the tougher Lieutenants and Bosses.

BUT, what you said probably still applies, because that's where things slow down! After that initial AOE burst, Fiery Embrace and Buildup are recharging and I have a boss or two and sundry tougher lieutenants and just plain old Tanker level damage while trying to mop up--or even worse, after I've cleared the minions and I'm trying to finish off the AV!

    Thanks guys!
  23. As both a 7 year VIP and a business owner, I understand that the devs have to do what keeps the game alive, or it will go under and then none of us get to play. Because of this, they have to set priorities.

But, as a business owner--and not some rich business owner, by the way--and as a 7 year VIP, I would PAY MONEY PER POOL to be able to change the freaking colors. Anything is better than never having pool customization or having to wait forever for it.
  24. I THINK it should, but I'm not sure.

I took Nerve because I have 10 attacks and by using Nerve it saved me 10 slots where I would have had to put an extra accuracy in each attack, because I play at max settings.

I know Muscular increases Judgement's damage, but does Nerve increase it's accuracy?

No, actually, what I usually do is figure out what tier 4 I want and then get to the closest tier 3, and then just play and accumulate stuff till I can blast all the way to the tier 4 I want.

BUT, of course if I can't get a definitive answer before hand, I'll follow your advice .
