    Toons with PTSD

Come to think of it, a character who's continuing to fight crime in order to fight their own fears would be really interesting to play.
There are kinds and degrees. I point that out myself. The OP was talking about a specific level of the disease:

In short does your toon have PTSD?
All of my comments should be seen through the lens of that quote. There are plenty of mild forms of the disease that allow people to continue to function mostly normally. What the OP was talking about, however, is not that kind.

    Toons with PTSD

I'm speaking from experience, having worked with many people who suffered from PTSD. When forced into a situation with the subject matter, it is extremely stressful and painful, to the point that many will escape the situation by any means necessary.

Admittedly, there are many levels of PTSD. However, even your friend who has been through the worst of it and gotten treatment for the disease does their best to avoid any mention or reminder of the triggering situation.

What I'm saying is, you don't get ***** and then become a rapist hunting vigilante. You don't get beaten regularly as a kid and become an angel of justice. And you don't get your teeth kicked out to be forcefully sodomized in prison, and decide to join the police. What you turn into is a jumpy, paranoid, hyper-alert individual who becomes painfully nauseous from the oddest things, has flashbacks that can strike at very inconvenient times, suffers from night terrors (like a nightmare, but worse, and you can't wake up), sleep-walking, insomnia, eating disorders, and quite often drug abuse. Why should it be any different for the heroes and villains in CoX?

It's possible to lead a normal, healthy lifestyle while in treatment for PTSD. However, it's not possible to do so if you are constantly exposed to the source of your trauma. You'll eventually crack entirely.

Now, I can see a hero with PTSD, forcing himself to continue the good fight out of a sense of duty, and RP'ing his slow descent into bitterness and madness from the adrenal exhaustion and lack of sleep. I don't see PTSD being a good springboard for turning into a flat-out Villain.
  3. Had a nice turn around today after yesterday's apathy. Going to try to push some for more before bed, if I can tear myself away from my Praetorian long enough.

Grand total of 562M inf after I collected it. It feels weird to have half a billion inf, a quarter the inf cap, when my highest level character is 20. I keep thinking I'd be able to greatly increase my Inf intake if I had a character high enough to do some farming. Then I wonder if it's true.

Speaking of Praetorians, I made a Kinetics / Dual Pistols Defender. I'll start working his market slots when he hits 10 or so and it's worth bothering.

I seem to be plateauing at 75M to 100M profit a day. Not that I'm complaining, but I know better is possible. I just need to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Most likely, I just need to do what I've been avoiding, and apply nose to grindstone to research something with the profit potential to get me above this point.

    Toons with PTSD

A hero or villain with an actual case of real-world PTSD would not still be heroing or villaining. They would get out of the metahuman game entirely. That whole "avoidance of stimuli associated with the trauma" isn't a joke or a minor issue. People with real PTSD will go to inhuman, insane, dangerous lengths to avoid situations that bring those memories to the fore.
  5. It's an entitlement thing. We're more successful, so that must mean they are morally superior or they would be able to be as successful. It's because they hold themselves to a higher standard that we have more money, and that allows them to look down on us.
  6. So in only 2 months time, you can save a couple billion. Doesn't seem worth the wait.

It's the "implied" nudity. I still remember characters being banhammered "back in the day" because they were wearing fleshtone tights, making them look like giant naked barbie and ken dolls.

I think that's the key part for me. The eyes look real, and are such a striking color that they absorb my attention from the rest of her features. Consequently, I'm mostly seeing the "cheat" part of the picture, and it colors my perception of the image as a whole. I imagine if my psyche was more drawn towards the lips, I would have a different opinion.
  9. So, Marketgeddon happened. The Price War to end all Price Wars. The Sellpocalypse. Ragnavendor.

Everyone's stuff was unlisted, all listing fees returned, and all markets are now one market. There is only The Market, for all sides, for all servers, it is all-reaching and all-touching.

And I... went right back to selling the same IOs at the same prices like it never happened. WTF?!

Alright, so the price points are a little higher. Not any higher than I've seen before, though. I did pick up a couple M from rolling all my AE tickets when I hit 20, and have a bunch of other Really Useful Things at that level sitting in the "Selling" pane. We'll see if they sell. It's time to wade through my PMs and find something else tasty to sell. There's three of you who've sent me advice on what good crafting profit IOs at higher price points are. 50M to the person who can guess which 3 forum-goers sent me the free advice before tomorrow 9pm.

I'll be making a new character tomorrow for an RP SG. I'll post market results from both characters daily, and keep track of the combined daily Inf. First post updated with current total and a plea for build help. Oh, and please leave your opinions on your favorite Support type character. I'm considering Kinetics or Force Fields on a Defender with Psychic Blast right now.
  10. Yes, if you have bottomless pockets and endless time, you can make an absurdly large number of merits in a week.

However, if you're concerned with spending 300 million, I don't think 20 million on a single merit is really meant for you :-D

Yeah, I thought that was just some filter work and a recolor on the eyes and lips. You dropped it to lines and rebuilt it from there? Impressive!

    But yeah, slightly risqué.
  12. Tip Missions effect Fame, and Tip Mission are Alignment Related. Complete 10 Tip Mission, get one Morality Mission. You can only do 5 Tip Missions every 20 hours. So, if you want to be a REAL psycho about it, you can technically manage 4 Alignment Merits a week. Of course, that means starting your playtime 4 hours earlier each day of the week...

    holy monkeynuts!

Quite a bit ubers. On the other hand, it's totally possible they tweaked the maximum concurrent users down for the first couple days of Going Rogue to make sure the servers don't DIAF.
  14. A little bird tells me that we're free to say where we bought it and that it's a great deal, as long as we don't bring in specific price points. So mod your post MeanNVicious before the thread gets nuked
  15. I stopped by on location today. They said the sale would stay in effect through the end of the week, if not longer. Still, better to buy ASAP.
  16. I think a lot of people are dumping into the market right now, having "stocked up" on "big sellers" before the merge
  17. Everything looked fine on my end. Had e-mail and auctions that came through with no hassle. One minor difference: They seem to have swapped the position of the Bidding and Selling numbers from yesterday.

    holy monkeynuts!

There'll be another big influx tomorrow that'll last 30 days until their free time from the GR box runs out. Population will dip again in October, but will have definitely picked up some more longer-term players.
  19. It's a very valid legal liability issue, which is why I reposted it in vague enough language that you can draw your own conclusions to what exactly I'm talking about. If, you know, you've had a lobotomy or something.

Could be fluffier. It hasn't killed anyone or caused the destruction of any midway games today.

But yes, it's an Angora Rabbit, the source of Angora Wool that those super-expensive sweaters and socks are made out off. There's a cheap knock-off Angora goat fibre that is sometimes sold as Angora Wool, but it's really mohair.
  21. I'd be listing everything I have right now, but aparently the predownloaded didn't do it's job and I need to download 1.21 jiggabytes >.<

Where's a lightning bolt when you need it?
  22. Apparently it's against the rules to tell people the details about 3rd party sales. So, for anyone that missed it, a certain nameless product from a certain nameless company is on sale at a certain nameless retailer, and it's something that you are all interested in. You should Google this rogue merchandise and see if you can find the best buy.

  23. I'm taking my Scrapper to Redside long enough to get Mu Mastery, at least.
