  1. I haven't leveled enough of everything to really decide.

If you disable autocomplete, typing in names works just like it did on the old interface - including being a lot slower and loading a lot more info up front, so be warned. Sadly, the radio button setting also does not seem to be persistent.
One thing that bugs me about that whole input field though is that it keeps wanting to select the entirety of the text. Say if I do a 'find' on one IO in a set and want to find all the other pieces as well. I depress autocomplete then go to the end of the text field to delete back to the colon - whenever I place the cursor with the mouse it selects the entire field. I have to use the arrow keys to deselect it. Sometimes it is nice to select everything (if you want to clear the field), sometimes it's not.
  3. I just looked at most of these (looking at the max for the 33 recipes in that range; I'm nearing level 30 and will have about 200 merits), and it's either all or nothing. Eradication, Call to Arms, Theft of Essence, Basilisk's Gaze, Shield Breaker, Cloud Senses make it a decent gamble.
  4. One thing I do like about the new interface though is listing an IO, hitting 'find' then 'search', and bringing up the list. Very handy to compare various levels w/o dealing with the dropdowns or entering the search text.
  5. Hmm, yeah this isn't just ugly, it IS also buggy. I keep dragging salvage into the interface, confirm the amount, then see it appear as stored for a half second...before it returns to my salvage inventory. Repeatedly.

Or the possibility of one market interface across multiple characters?

It's a good point though - if I'm juggling only 18 slots, I don't really need them sorted. 100, probably. It's a feature that may not fit the scale.
  7. I never realized before how much my playstyle had changed to incorporate the market...until I17 hit.

Instead of playing more, I have been playing less. First because the market was down for an extended period. Rather than change how I stored/sold things, I just played less. Now, because the whole deal feels..."jumbled". Rather than deal with it, I've been playing less.*

I much prefer the old interface. Typical stop would be to open up the interface, drop a bunch of salvage into the slots. I'd see one pop up with a different color and I'd know it had sold so I'd collect the inf. I'd scroll left to see if any old sales/bids went through. Then I'd be on my way. I could very easily glance at an item and know by color and icon what it was and if it was being bought/sold. Not as much now.

Also, with the different tabs...say you want to pick up a piece of salvage. You bid, and you wait. It fills say, 10 seconds later. Is there any point to not be on the 'All' tab? The 'Bidding' and 'Bought' tabs - and the fact that the salvage will move from one to the other - just add unneeded steps here. Unfortunately, if you DO use the 'All' tab you have to deal with a dozen items in the awful vertical scroll (and the icons for the item are much smaller in the vertical display, yes? Not a fan there, as it makes it harder to identify).

I've also mistakenly put bids on things that I want to sell. This is largely due to my shifting focus though; because the selling/buying numbers aren't in the bottom panel, I will click 'Find' to get the display where they do show up. My attention shifts to that area, then by instinct I go to put in the sale price, but I'm really putting in a bid.

Sticky bid values/quantities have also GOT to go. Or at the very least, bring back the slider for the amount. It may not be perfect, but the slider was at least controllable by the mouse - I could grab it and change it w/o taking my hand off of it. The entry box requires me to target it with the mouse, then find backspace/delete/number keys (for whatever reason, I am programmed to look for backspace/delete with my RIGHT hand, not my left).

    * I will note that I just got my widow to 50, and I will sometimes have a little lull before latching on to a new character, so there may be a little of that but the market is a larger reason

    Drain Psyche

I have this slotted on my Ice/MM:

    Level 20: Drain Psyche -- Efficacy-EndMod/Rchg(A), Efficacy-EndMod/Acc/Rchg(23), Efficacy-Acc/Rchg(25), Numna-Heal(25), Numna-Heal/Rchg(27), Efficacy-EndMod/Acc(27)

Enhances about 70% acc, 70% end, 56% heal, 90% rech. Slight HP bump, 1.5% recovery and 22% regen for bonuses. Might not be optimal, but works pretty well.

Right. It's all in the writing. Acts could be implied (heck, there's already a mission where you're finding "subjects" for Dr. Vahz - I think we know what is going to happen to them). There are also many ways villains can be devious without necessarily being violent; it could even be as simple as tricking your contact (think Wheeler but reversed).

If you're that bad, that powerful, some (not all, but some) contacts should not respect you, they should FEAR you. They should be giving you information so that you don't beat the living tar out of them, their family, their friends. They should be grovelling and licking your boots.

edit: really, some of these contacts shouldn't even be villainous at all. Their arcs should be them giving you information they don't want you to have, but you do things to force it out of them.
  11. On bases - I think it might have been neat if there were areas that represented some of the bases of major groups in the game that became accessible through certain badges/accolades. Like Pocket D in a way, but maybe a little more gated. Or like the Midnighter Club, but with functionality (kinda similar to how the Vanguard base works too, really).

Earned the Freedom Phalanx Reserve accolade? Ok - now you have access to the Freedom Phalanx base. Like any good base it probably has some functionality too - some tables, teleporters, etc. But, you don't have to worry about building it. And maybe you run into a few signature heroes there. Have a base for the Vindicators. Heck, have one for the Civic Squad (might be a handy thing for Vigilantes spending time in the Rogue Isles to have access to).

  14. I dunno...I kinda liked having my items all lined up horizontally. I'm sure I'll adapt, but it'll take a while.

And that gray background on everything is awful. Makes it harder to read everything (especially with the smaller text).

Granted, I have a *lot* of badges now.
I've been getting flicker too (opening contacts, accessing arcs in oro, etc), but I started getting that before I17 after updating my very old ATI drivers. It's almost as if the game is taking a screenshot at points, because when the flicker occurs I will see something that happened earlier. I get the same for an instant when I log off - before returning to my desktop I will see a screengrab from the game which disappears after a second or so.

I do hope they look at red-side merits at some point. There are some arcs that just don't seem right. "Vindication" from Abyss, for example. Ms. Liberty x2, Valkyrie (which is x2 with her rez, really), Luminary, Mynx...for 5 merits? You can get 5 for "Alone in the Darque", and all you have to do is beat up Dr. Aeon. "Vigilante Justice", too. Six missions, and Synapse x3, Mynx x2. 7 merits.

Oh, and a personal favorite, "Crimson Hunt". Ok, three missions, 4 merits, only one EB...seems not too bad. If Crimson didn't run like a little *****! He escapes and you only get 2 merits. I get that letting him escape is a time-saving option (like oh, Biff). When he barely gets away because you can't navigate the PITA sewer doors as well as he can, it's maddening.

This assumes an average player who is not speed running or making selections to optimize merits/time, of course - both the old and the new system have significant room for optimization.
And I'd assume that someone like NT wasn't speed-running Katies, because it doesn't seem like he was concerned about the recipes, which were the whole reason for running speed Katies in the first place.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and maybe it's been brought up elsewhere. But didn't the devs at one point say there would be a significant carrot for staying true to one side? I wonder if Incarnates could be limited to those characters that are either pure-red or pure-blue, but none in-between.

I just wanted KB protection and maybe a Regen/Recovery ... stuff like that.

I don't feel like I'm affecting the market at all since the 1 or 2 recipes I earned pre-i13 wasn't adding to the recipe supply anyway. That plus the merits I'm spending now are earned in a way that wouldn't have given a reward under the old system at all.
This is it for me too. I had earned maybe three recipes from TF before merits (one quick Katie where I was told to basically do nothing, one ITF...and one Doc Q of all things). I've run a few more TF for merits here and there, but have rolled many more from merits earned from doing arcs. I figure I have a lot of IO I otherwise wouldn't, and more purchasing power on the market. I still have a hard time fathoming not needing to roll earned merits, though I suppose if you don't play a lot of alts there may not be the same need.

One thing I'd like to see from merits are merits for Safeguard/Mayhems. Not even a lot, maybe just two for the main and one for each of the side missions.
  20. Heh...you know, I just remembered that I've taken the Stealth power on one toon - my Mind/Kin. I actually found it helpful to be slowed down when using Siphon Speed, especially in caves.

If something is really hyped or FOTM I'll avoid it like the plague. Even if it's something I've looked forward to.

I refused to watch any Harry Potter movies until the hysteria died down. Then I of course fell in love with the series

    [snip]

Anyone else avoid bandwagons like me?
You're not the only one - I avoid them too. I've still not seen any of the Harry Potter movies, nor do I really want to. I haven't seen Avatar either. Admittedly, I don't see many movies - but these I have developed a bias against based on their popularity.

    Ruby Rocket as Sister Psyche.
  23. I wonder if it could be changed to suppress the movement penalty and some of the endurance cost under the same conditions that part of the defense is suppressed.

I always find it funny that my LCS has a bunch of stuff on display for fantasy games, cards, and even some WoW items (could have sworn they had free disks at one point), but I never see any trace of CoH.

Regarding t-shirts, I actually like plain logo t-shirts. Like this or this (but then again, I loved plain logo Underoos). Right now, not much would probably be recognizable besides the Statesman or Lord Recluse logos. Do any of the other signature heroes or villains have logos?
