Quote:lol. yea, that's it. All you have to do is read the topics in this section and see some of the crazy ideas how to make a dollar. Every event, there's questions as to how someone can use candy canes, or some wild idea how to make a dollar... sigh. It's easy, play the game and sell what you don't need.*watches eryq's conspiracy theories fall out of the sky in flames*
I think the mindset of the market-ignorant can be summed up as "I don't know how this works, so I'm going to blame the people who do."
What's wrong with just selling drops obtained? Like i said, i have 2 accounts of purpled toons, soft capd defenses, high valued enh in storage, several purples recipes and about 11 7.5 lotg level 25s recipes on a toon. I have used not 1 scheme, niche, flipped or done anything but sell items. So, what's the point of all the other BS?
No crazy conspiracy theory. Low drops rates in this game + idiots screwing with the markets items = crazy prices.... Like i said. You can't deny the facts of what people post on how to mess with the market. Then blame someone for calling it out. Looks like YOU are the informed one here, my friend. -

Nice shots. Just curious how many months they had to wait. And/if they had to wait until quantity reached 0, before they got it?
-
LOL. You are confirming exactly what i'm saying. Supply and demand and exploits to be exact though.
Example.
1 Hecatomb for sale. 300 bidding. Last 5 sold 450mil. (scenerio 1) I want one but don't have 450mil. So, i bid 300mil. Someone that has more inf than me bids 475mil to get it nao. My 300mil will never fill. Why, you ask? Because of scenerio 2.
(scenerio 2) Someone walks up to WW with a Hecatomb. 0 for sale. Last 5 are 4 @ 450mil, 1 @475mil. Hmm, they think. If the price jumped up to 475mil and 0 for sale, maybe i'll just toss this one up for 500mil and see if it sells. 2 days later, someone bids 500mil and gets it. And again, the 300mil bidder will never get it.
Is 300mil not in the right "relative" price for a recipe? Or is "relative" within 5 inf of the selling price? LOL. This has been the case year on year.
Now to the exploit part...
(scenerio 3) Someone walks to to WW and sees 10 purples for sale at 30mil. That person thinks, hmmm, i can buy those and delete all but 2 and relist for 200mil each and make 100mil.
Or, i think i'll just buy crap that i don't need just to inflate the values because i have nothing better to do in life and i don't really care if someone else is looking for these items for actual usage.
To think that people aren't treating WW like this are lieing to themselves and us. I've seen posts and pics of said actions. So, keep telling us how the "player base" sets the prices and i'll keep telling you how the alot of the buyers are just victims of the above actions that are skyrocketing the prices in WW. -
Quote:Absurdly to whom? You? 4k is still over what the DEVS and the NPC values it at. Now, if people wanna jack up the rates of it, well, that's a totally different story. Greed runs the market just as much as impatient people.Because you are making up an absurdly low value and pretending that's what we're telling you to do. I am talking about relative values here, and you know it. I didn't say "bid whatever you want and wait."
You didn't say bid whatever, you said, "bid low". Like i asked before, "who defines what low is"? If the rates are 55k, is 22k too low? If the rates are 100k is 55k to low? Please tell the people what "relative" pricing would be. -
I have both. I love both. My 2 cents.
I dont use Stone outside of Granite, so im not sure how well it fairs. Why not? Well, because im built around run speed and movement speeds so it runs faster than a toon with sprint on. (rouchly mid 20's mph) It's also paired with SS so i dont really lose any damage with perma Rage. Im getting a constant 55% damage boost with it. And i'm either going with the damage boost from the Alpha or the recharge so running in Granite ensures me that i'll never die, while not asking for SB all the time.
My ice tank is capd to several positions and plays very well. Has a slow power with damage ticks, and Energy Absorption adds defense plus reills endurance. (which is nice because youll have about 10 toggles) It's paired with Siphon Melee. (which i really dont like) But i've ran a ton of incarnate missions and tip missions and yet to die. I want to try a few TFs and see how she does.
Stone melee is nice but dont slot for KB or youll be sending mobs from here to China.
Ice Melee is meh, imo. Ice Patch is the only power i like from it.
I'd pair Ice Armor with DM, SS, or Fire.
I'd pair Stone Armor with Mace, Fire, or SS. -
Quote:Either way. The principal is the same. People always want to say, "bid low and wait". That doesn't always work. Even for salvage. If i bid 4k for an Alchemical Silver (which is like 4x the NPC value), itll never fill. Why is that? A profit would still be made, true? This discussion is not about purples (the principle works for purples, but it's scaled up to higher numbers and longer wait times).
This discussion is about, to use Humility's words, garbage salvage that sells for 500 and spikes up to 300k. Those are the numbers I am referring to and "low" in this case would be that 500 figure. -
Which do you prefer and why?
Also, i see Axe has a KB component. Is it too much KB for the set? I don't want to be knocking them all over the place. -
Quote:Bid low? Hmm, low to you may not be low to someone else. That term just doesn't stand true on alot of items. You disagree? Well, i've place some "low" bids on some purples. They have been idle since thanksgiving. How long should my "low" bids wait? Maybe until i level another 50?You mean like telling them to bid low and be patient? Because that's pretty much the advice everyone has given, always, to this complaint. NOW, or cheap; pick one.
The low drop rates of common salvage. Okay.
Yeah, it really is.
And why can "now" not be "cheap"? Simple. There's simply not enough items for everyones toons and their alts.... -
Humility, give up. lol. I had the same arguments, but the market section isn't going to give on this.
There are plenty of topics in here about ways to "play the market" to get inf. Noone wants ways to make it easy to get you items. They are looking for ways to get it cheap and sell it for 1million times the value of it. They aren't looking for ways to save you a dollar. Some people just have toons that do nothing other than hang in WW.
What we have is people taking advantage of the low drop rates basically. IMO, it's the Devs fault for the inflations. If there are only 10 pieces of something for sale and 300 people wanting it, the value is going to keep going up. Not to mention the people that like to screw with the market by buying them few pieces only to relist them higher. It happens everyday but most will try to tell you it dont and it's just the way of the market.
I have several purpled toons across 2 accounts and billions in liquid cash and ive never had to use any tactics other than selling my recipes at WW. I earn what i have by playing the game. WW isn't a mini game, its an exploit of the sucky drop rate. My 2 cents anyways... -
Quote:I understand but to be honest, i think it's about realism. Fire is flames, not slabs, like ice. Which is easier to make as an aura. I don't think i've ever seen fire clump up in my fireplace like the ice in my freezer. I may be wrong, though.Fire armor is an armor too, but it's visualized as a close-fitting aura, not slabs of fire that rigidly overlay your costume. I'm talking about my desire for an alternate model; if they ever did this (which I'd bet money they won't) they wouldn't drop the current armor, they'd offer the new look as an option.
Like i said, i prefer the realism of the powers over the look of a costume. But that's me. Kinda like Granite Armor. You can't see the costume at all. But if i want to look at my costume, i can do it in WW, CC, or just hanging out. When i'm in missions, i'm not focusing on what my clothes look like. -
Quote:But it's an armor, not aura. We already have an aura like that in /Cold. I'd rather see the armor than the stealthy look. It don't really bother me, but that's my opinion. Especially now that it can be colored.I think it could be visualized as more of an ice aura, perhaps even with a faint fog that comes off the character and pools around the feet. The one thing I regretted when I gave up Mace for Ice was the subtlety of the Scorpion shield. I love the Ice armor power but dislike how thoroughly it obscures costumes.
-
What else should Ice Armor look like? Other than ice?
-
You have Hot Feet and Leaderships. How do you even have blue to make an attack? I was wanting to make a Fire Dom, but Psionic is the only thing i'd pair it with unless i didn't take Hot Feet. Just curious how you keep any blue.

Quote:Well, im at 25 atm on the zombie/storm. Its pretty nice. Hurricane+Gale is working great to keep the pets undead. FR helps debuff and the 02 is enuff atm to keep them undead. lol.As far as that is concerned, yeah, they are the squishiest pets being mostly defense based without good defenses which is why this build is a late bloomer for sure.
Roll a Zombie/Dark and see how you like it. Classic zombie build filled with darkness, evil, and projectile vomit... Should be active and effective from what I've heard. But Zombies are squishy themselves I believe. -
Wow. Tough question. I have a very hard time playing the same power more than once BUT i love each of my 50's powers. lol.
On a brute- it'd have to be SS, since i can't have it as a scrapper.
Scrapper- Katana, for sure. Katana/Regen, Kat/Dark, Kat/Fire are all fun.
Plant pops in my mind. Plant/Storm(troller) and Plant/Fire(dom) are just plain beasts. AoE confuse, holds, immobs, lol. Can't beat that. -
@ Regulus.
I had a Ninja/TA that was fun but i couldnt keep them alive so i deleted it. I actually made 3, but the 3rd was merc/trap, and after reading how bad merc was i deleted. I really like the way the necro look, is the reason behind them. Kinda cool, in a MJ Thriller kind of way. lol. And i want to see what the rave about bots are so that's the reasoning for them.
I don't like the "buff slave" role either and is one reason i never play MM long but like u said, with inherent fitness i can take other powers. Air Supp is probably the best boss deterant ive seen in the game. Plus, i might can get the Fear Cone like in the /dark set from the Pools. -
Im not sure about /traps, but i can't play /FF. Tooooo broing of a set for me. Really, the whole MM set seems boring, hence the reason im wanting to go /Storm or maybe /Dark. Im hoping that maybe the Necro will keep me busy. Plus, they look cool.
I just wanted Bots because i hear they do major damage.
-
IMO, Fire/kins are faster than anything farming. I have a ton of diff farm builds. From an Elec/SD soft capd with 155% rech plus Incarnate rech boosts, Plant/Fire perma everything (creepers/dom), SS/Fire brute IO'd, Fire/Fire scrapper on the way at 42.
From my exp farming, Elec/SD is the safest hardest hitting farmer. Fire/kin is the fastest and very safe if you know what you're doing, and the Doms are great because Dom has you resistant to everything from sleeps/holds/stuns/ etc, which controllers are not.
Malta and Carnie can manhandle anything if you don't know what you're doing. Not just fire/kins.But on the other hand, you're not gonna be farming them.
-
I rarely play MM's. But i was wanting one. My choices are Bots/Pain or Necro/Storm.
I don't PvP and mainly solo so im not sure which build would suit me best. -
Very good points, Jade. I just made my first Brute. It took a couple of respecs to get him decent. (SS/Fire, btw)
I wasn't sure about all the specifics on Fury. Your points are very clear. I also like your ideas as to renaming and swapping a couple of powers. A damage aura would work instead of a slow aura, also. Maybe a Freezing Air aura or something since freezing temperatures do hurt us. -
It was said recently also. In a "things that probably wont happen" list. I think it was in the beta forums but i can't remember where i seen it.
